It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here and a lot has happened in the past few months. New job, new town, new home... A new life basically. What for? I have lived a comfortable life pursuing fast highs and chasing excitement wherever it would take me. All through the medium of standing sideways. Snowboarding has given me everything. I’ve met lifelong friends, learned patience, persistence, how to turn failure into an opportunity, explored the world, embraced new cultures and more. All of this being possible through a common bond, bringing a lust for life and the outdoors. An opportunity I’ve been fortunate enough to experience and something I want to share with others. That is why I am so proud to say I work for @protectourwinters and @pow_action_fund . To me, we are working to create solutions to climate change but we are also standing up for all of these virtues. That’s why I will be voting tomorrow for climate and community. Divisiveness will never move us forward, but together we can make the world a better place. After a couple hundred hours, 200,000 lines, and close to a year and a half I think I am gonna call this thing done. Chipping away at this an hour or so at a time after the kids are in bed has been a good meditative experience. I drew this based on a photo I took from a small Cessna flying around the Wasatch a couple years ago and am feeling as content as I ever do with a piece. There is the temptation to continue tinkering and revising, but at some point you just have to walk away. I am figuring out prints and posters, so if you’re interested stay tuned. It’ll be available sometime in September. I get questions about the medium fairly often. I drew this on my iPad in Procreate app. Having portable art projects has been pretty game changer for me, especially with the kids around. I would like to get back to drawing on large slabs of wood eventually, but being 100+ hours in on a project that is within reach or a 2 year old is a little stressful. The Matterhorn! I am usually trying to keep my backpack as light and small as possible when it comes to alpine climbing. But when I was planning this tour, I believed that we might be lucky and catch an amazing sunrise view with the Matterhorn north face. So I dropped some cams and carried a telephoto lens instead. - Heres a picture of the traverse for those who saw the video. Notice the gap in the trail? Thats what I got stuck on. Notice how below there are other traverses but the trails end in the same spot that entire section is avi debris and is all rock hard and steep. Thats why I couldnt just slide down
