WOW!! The turnout for yesterday’s Public Land Packout was amazing! We had over 30 volunteers!! We removed trash, replaced old signage, removed cedars, primed and painted new gates and barricades, and removed overgrown vegetation around parking areas to make them more visible from the road. In all it was a big win and helped get the Lexington and Heyburn WMAs ready for fall hunting season. We are proud to have partnered with state biologists to accomplish these projects and look forward to more opportunities in the future. 25, quarter century, and time is flying. I can’t say I’m not happy about the things I’ve done. Travelled most of the U.S., followed a dream and haven’t given up, made that dream my living and earning a good wage. I’ve made more friends than I ever thought I would and have a great circle of trust. A family unit that supports each other through thick and thin. That’s the window dressing though. The little boy that keeps me going is what makes it all worth while. Didn’t even care about my birthday this year and probably never will again because he is more than worth it. Another #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth shoutout goes to little Ryker Baumiller! He just turned 5-years-old and celebrated his birthday with staff at Banner Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorder Clinic in Mesa. Ryker was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) in August of 2019 and he is now in remission and will soon begin maintenance chemotherapy. Her little boy Jack was enrolled into Aspect Vern Barnett School in 2018 as he was diagnosed on the autism spectrum at the age of two. Jack is now very verbal, he understands emotions and has built amazing social skills. Today’s park adventure was a little crazy. I got bit by ants, Rhode sat in water, Avery had a huge spider climb up his leg, and then the boys played in the splash pad fully clothed so they rode home in their undies. Oh! I forgot to mention those ant bites caused some weird reaction and I got so itchy and hivey that Avery had to drive us home while I clawed at my skin. Since going vegan and gluten free, and shifting into a @medicalmedium lifestyle back in Jan 2020 I’ve noticed/he’s noticed: 💚better sleep (no more melatonin needed) 💚heightened focus (he did amazing on his first day, sitting and listening) 💚more versatile, yet simplified palate 💚able to flow through changes without “meltdowns” 💚starting to independently emotionally regulate and express himself authentically 💚expanded imagination 💚understanding concept of time and chronological events more every day 💚willingness to do or try “hard” things or work through “hard” feelings 💚he said he “doesn’t feel sick anymore” (he would always be sick with lingering/ongoing cold/flu symptoms and dark circles under eyes throughout years past) 💚problem solving more 💚consistent bowel movements 💚dark circles under eyes gone 💚eczema is clearing slowly 💚texture changing mole on forehead is now flat/smooth/smaller (Braxton noticed himself also) 💚more confidence and motivation (And more) We are grateful and abundantly thankful for all of the healing insight and information gifted to the world by the @medicalmedium. Henry and his family have been strictly shielding since last summer. For them, lockdown was the norm. No visits to the shops, no days out, no playdates...just them. Lockdown is something we all know can be very tough. But for Henrys family it was even more important to protect him from infection. Henry was waiting for a bone marrow transplant to help with his rare genetic condition. This year Henry got his transplant! Whilst he will still have to be careful, it now means that he gets to have the childhood he deserves. A week ago today @traciderington as @derington_family moved out of our home and moved to Thailand! I rode with them to Chicago, and drove back home that night. I was in tears driving away from the airport, and few more times on the way home as well and the next few days. I still get choked up thinking about it. The past 5 months were such a blessing to have a front row seat of their journey getting to Thailand. God was and is in control of every tiny detail. He allowed plenty of days for stretching and molding and pruning, and everything worked out for His glory. Sharing Time I felt like it was time for me to share a little bit of personal perspective. As I’m watching some of y’all sending your sweet little people back to school in these crazy times, I’ve been preparing my own little dudes for their first day. We’ve had an awesome summer making memories at the cottage with all 6 of these handsome faces. My 3 + my 3 bonus little guys. Being an access parent isn’t easy. Especially being an access parent that lives so far away. All 6 of our boys will be starting at new schools this coming week. It’s incredibly tough knowing that our babes will be facing the world without us physically present. This parenting gig is hard af sometimes! Making decisions about this upcoming school year was not an easy process for many parents but even more so with strained coparenting relationships. Ashley Keiling and her a family gathered in the parking lot at Saint Barnabas Medical Center with so much to celebrate -- she has officially completed her final #chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer! The mom of three young children discovered a lump last summer. She was diagnosed with #breastcancer and underwent a bilateral mastectomy followed by a year’s worth of regular chemotherapy. Bryson’s first day of 1st grade. The shirt he chose to wear (now fitting smaller) is the same, but in many ways things are different, he has grown. Our baby boy is most certainly not a baby anymore. • There’s the obvious - he is bigger and faster with six permanent (we hope, ha) teeth. He doesn’t just like Legos, but can now focus and build the sets himself. One recent development is his belting out of “Girl on Fire” by @aliciakeys. My favorite version is when he changes the lyric to “This Maya’s on fire!” in tribute to his little sister. He continues to grow into the role of big brother and increasingly asserts his independence - in many ways that I appreciate, in some ways that I admire, and sometimes in ways that remind me that patience is a skill and a practice. • What remains permanent through all the change is my unconditional love for B and my commitment to enabling him to be the best version of what he wants to be. We had a Mama and Remi afternoon running errands today. While waiting in line at Target, I noticed how grown and handsome my middle man looked. So, I told him to smile for a picture and backed up to document it before he grew anymore. As soon as I snapped that first photo, I heard a voice from behind us in line say, “Do you mind if I help you?”. I turned around to see a woman, probably around the same age as me standing by herself. She must have noticed the slight hesitation on my in my eyes - I usually don’t enjoy small talk with strangers and anyone who knows me will agree that I am unable to hide any emotions from my face. But before I could politely decline, she said, “I’m a mama too and I know how it feels to always be the one taking the pictures. Can I help you get a picture of you both together?” She was right. I’ve got thousands of photos of my kids over the years, but only a handful of them with me. What if something happened to me and all they had left were photos? They aren’t going to care what I looked like or what I was wearing. Or if we were standing outside of Target waiting in line on a random Monday afternoon. I agreed and handed her my phone with zero expectations of it actually being a photo I would like of myself. But, to my surprise, it’s beautiful. She perfectly documented our time together today. Tomorrow he will be a little more grown but I will always be able to look back at this moment and remember today. So, to the woman who spoke up and said what all of us mamas are feeling, thank you. I appreciate you more than you know. Yesterday was a day in cooking that I will never forget and possibly never top. We headed up to Wichita Falls,TX and cooked an SCA double event at the Shrine Club steak cook off with 60 teams in attendance and many of those being the top teams in the world of steak cooking. We picked up our new Hastybake Ranger grill and my great friends Dirk Mullins and Coty Alambar immediately helped me assemble it. Ty Higgins loaned me a table to set it on to be able to cook. I put a fire in it and started burning it in. The kids cooked pork chops and then we were on to steak. I was fortunate enough to draw number 3 and number 6 at steak selection so I had incredible steaks. These were certified angus beef steaks and they were phenomenal. By far the best steaks I’ve seen at an event. We cooked steak A and we were happy with our turn in. On to steak B. I knew this was a good steak and my job was to not screw it up. So at awards the get down to 1st place steak A and I wasn’t totally confident it was a winner. Our number was called for 1st place steak. I usually don’t say much when I get a call but I couldn’t contain my excitement. I was beyond excited. Now on to steak B. I was extremely confident with this steak but you never know in comp cooking how it will go. They get down to 1st place steak and bam. Our number again. I was in pure shock. Heck I’m still in pure shock lol. My traveling partner and great cook Coty Alambar called it from the get go. He said that’s a 1st place steak. I cooked 13 ribeyes this week trying to get everything perfect and it paid off huge. Congrats to everyone who got a call yesterday. I turned to my community (my friends, my fellow crossfitters, my wine night gaggle) to help welcome me and inevitably trust me with one of the largest purchases they would make in their lives: a home. Resiliency - Because this is likely one of the largest purchases (or sales) a person, or couple, or family will make in their entire lives, I don’t take this lightly, and neither do they. This is where resiliency comes in. Trust is earned. Just because you are a realtor does not mean you automatically get the listing. I needed to get comfortable with waiting until the time was right for all parties involved. Results - When you put in the hard work and share that with people you will start to earn their trust. No one loves a showboat, a narcissist, a know-it-all. Be humble and be grateful. I would be nowhere and would have nothing if not for the relationships that got me here so I make damn sure THEY know it.
