To all our fans: We hope this message finds you well! As some of you already noticed it’s been a bit quiet on our channels over the last couple of months. This is due to the fact that we have been busy planning new exciting things as well as making music. When we first started messaging on Facebook with each other about making a track, we could have never imagined what would happen. Since Samsara came out we have been on a rollercoaster of emotions together, which brought so much joy to us and we hope to you as well! This is why we want to thank you- the T&R family - for being such a strong backbone and supporting us from day one! We could have never achieved anything of this without you, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts! While we care for each other dearly and have become brothers over the last couple of years, as hard has the decision was for us we felt it’s time we need to pursue some new challenges. This being said we remain brothers forever but creatively we will pursue different goals and paths. The horrors of this world have struck with an irreparable blow, claiming the life of one of my best friends and art collaborators, Thomas McMahan. My heart will never truly heal from this. Tom was one of the most talented artists and visionaries I’ve ever known. Over a friendship of 15 years and the span of 7 music videos (The Heiress, The Foyer, Unknown To The I, Everything Is Sentimental, Ellipsis, Creepers - Take You There, and VR SEX-Maiden China) I worked side by side with Tom, experimenting for days on end developing our own DIY techniques and solutions, building homemade sets, making molds, and guerrilla style filming. Any wild idea I had, Tom had a way of realizing it through his own unique genius and better than I ever could have imagined. Drab Majesty would not be anything it is if it wasn’t for his belief in the project in it’s most unrealized infancy. Tom was an absolute master and innovator of his craft and I will forever miss his company and the opportunities to make more art with him. I love you Tom. It’s been nearly a year since the last post, and if you’ve been awake for 2020, you’ll understand the delay. It’s time to at long last reveal the specification for the QUARTZ Commission DLS by @singervehicledesign and @williamsadvancedengineering . This literally took 18 months to come up with, because OCD is in my nature. I had gone down a somewhat different path and proudly announced my spec to @rob_dickinson_official only to have him challenge me the same way he did with my Singer Classic, The Toronto Commission ( #luft ). Rob’s astute and sympathetic design insights coached me towards a brilliant spec on my first commission, and I feel it’s done the same again. Rob gently dropped the pearl when he saw the product of my efforts by simply suggesting, ‘that grey paint you were briefly looking at earlier was something special.’ This began the journey of figuring out how to pair 1950s Tweed Grey (à la Classic Mini) with the warm grey leather to which my heart was committed. Grey-on-grey was extremely dull despite the paint and the hide are separately stunning. Anyway, 18 months later and we have a spec that, in keeping with The Toronto Commission, is true to my personality, and does not overreach in its attempt to be unique, while still maintaining a real 1-of-1 aesthetic. Thank you once again, Rob, and thank you to the entire Singer Vehicle Design & Williams Advanced Engineering teams for manifesting what to me will be the ultimate ever @porsche and the most personally meaningful tribute to Quartz, which has a special meaning for me. Happy release day to @vasudevamusic - their new album “Generator,” which I co-produced and mixed, is out now. This band is so special to me. Back when I knew nothing but thought I knew everything, they let me come into their homes and help them record. I learned so much making “Life in Cycles,” a lot of what not to do and how not to be as a producer. They’re still teaching me to this day and Generator was just as much of a learning experience, if not more so. @coreymastrangelo has become such a unique force, evolving from one of my favorite guitarists to one of my favorite producers. I was knee deep in this album and I still don’t know how he did half of what he did. The knowledge we’re able to share with each other makes it all worth it to me. That one time in 2013 when the stars aligned and my girlfriend used her smarts and charm to finagle some sketchy backstage passes from a famous person in order to try to meet Nick Cave in his green room after the show at the Ryman and we fabricated this story that we were with 91.1 Memphis radio doing a “Behind the Headlines” feature and our boss gave us these passes. We got through two security guards and a questioning tour manager to get this picture while Nick was putting on the slickest ‘kimono bomber’ embroidered with tigers. I’ll never forget the cold-yet-warm gazing stare Warren Ellis gave me when I sat down on the chair across from him. Pride - visual identity for @hkrep We want to convey the concept of lead character’s struggle with loneliness in a visual approach. The two circles are the moon and the earth. With a compact space helmet, the three circle, revealing that he is just an empty shell that differs strikingly. On the key visual, there is a sequence of time counting, after “00:60”, it should reset to the orginal, instead, the time keep counting to “00:61/00:62”, as to symbolize the lead character is living in his own world, how could never fit in to the normal world and other people, as if he is living in space.
