IL SERPENTE DALLA BOCCIA D’ORO IN BOCCA Tanti anni fa, in Val Brembana, a Zogno, c’era un serpente che volava e che aveva in bocca una Boccia d’oro la quale, di notte, emetteva luce. Tutte le notti, il serpente che stava di casa sulla Corna Rossa (una curiosa altura alle spalle di Zogno), volava intorno al campanile di Zogno e, allo scoccare della mezzanotte, sibillava così forte che la gente si rinchiudeva nelle proprie case per la gran paura. Poi andava a volare sul Canto Alto e lassù sibillava ancora più forte, tanto che lo si poteva sentire fino a Bergamo. Quando ritornava dal suo volo, si recava nei pressi del Fiume Brembo, per dissetarsi e, nel mentre, deponeva la boccia d’oro sopra un sasso; dopo aver bevuto, riprendeva il volo e tornava sulla Corna Rossa. Un giorno, un giovanotto di quelli un po’ spacconi, desideroso di mostrare il suo coraggio, decise di approfittare del momento in cui il serpente si dissetava, per impadronirsi della curiosa reliquia (Boccia d’oro). Una volta che però il giovanotto si avvicinò al serpente, rimase pietrificato e divenne rosso come il fuoco. Non appena la gente si accorse della tragedia, chiamó immediatamente il prevosto di Zogno il quale, per farlo rinvenire, é stato obbligato a buttargli addosso tre secchi di acqua benedetta. Per tenere il drago lontano, il prevosto fece posare sul Canto Alto una grande croce, mentre sulla sommità del campanile di Zogno, venne collocata una statua di San Lorenzo, che porta in mano un mazzo di diverghe di salice, a cura che non ritorni il serpente. E così, grazie anche all’aiuto della gente che contribuì a scacciare il serpente con bastoni e vanghe, le scorribande del Serpente dalla Boccia d’oro, si sono affievolite, fino a scomparire del tutto. After about a year of planning, bidding the project, and moving the FD into the temporary quarters the public will begin to see progress on the Pinehurst Fire station! Mobilization of the site began on Monday. The construction fence company will begin installation along the perimeter of the project site. Abatement began on Monday as well and will take about 3-4 weeks. During the week of 9/21 site clearing and tree removal will begin to take place. Demolition of the old fire station will begin to take place during the week of the 28th but may be earlier. The only structural change to the Firestation since the start has been the removal of four antenna whips on the building and replaced with one on the back side that can be seen in this rendering. The Fire Department requested this and this station can now serve as a backup communication center if the central station was to ever run into a problem. - @town_of_billerica on Instagram
