観ていて、気持ちが前向きになれる映画は数あれど、僕の場合は、『トイストーリー4』が最近のベスト。 お子さま向けのディズニーアニメだからといって、あなどれない。 トイ(＝おもちゃ)たちの立場を通じて、 僕らが生きる、さつばつとした大人社会を なにげにあぶり出しているんだよね。 現在(いま)となっては行き場を失い、 クローゼットに取り残されるのが 常である、主人公ウッディ。 最初からトーキー機能が欠陥だったため、 ずっと相手にされることもなく、 いつか誰かに愛でられることを願ってきたギャビー。 自分は有り物で作られたなんちゃってトイなので、 行き着くところはゴミ箱だけだと、 頑なに信じているフォーキー。 皆、子供たちに目を向けてもらえるよう、 持ち主になってもらえるよう、 飽きられて捨てられないよう、必死。 本当に弱い立場。 本編で使われている「LOST」(迷子)、 「USELESS」(役立たず)といった言葉に、 それらは集約されている。 でも、そんな中でね、トイたちは肩を寄せ合ってなんとか状況を打開していく。 要所要所では、心に刺さる言葉も。 ヒロインのボーがウッディに語りかける 「You ever think about getting out there,seeing the world? (そこから抜け出して、広い世界を見たくない？) ウッディがギャビーに訴えかける 「if you sit on a shelf the rest of your life… you’ll never find out,will you?」 (棚に座ったままじゃ、何も変わらないだろ？) そして、ラスト近くのシーン。 ウッディがボーに想いを伝えきれずに立ち去ろうとするところで バズがウッディにかつて言われた言葉をそのまま返してぶつける 「Hey,Listen to your inner voice.」 (内なる声を聞け) ウッディはハタと気づき、ボーのもとへ。 ベタかもしれないけど、この直球勝負な感じが好き。 一歩踏み出す勇気。 この映画を観るたび、ふつふつと湧いてくる。 物語のメインの舞台となる お店「セカンドチャンス・アンティーク」のネーミングセンス。 そう、チャンスはここから。まだまだたくさんある。観たことのない人は是非観てほしいな。 - @takudj on Instagram
