Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone. Today one of the most extraordinary musicians of our lifetime passed away. Ennio Morricone was a force of nature and revolutionised soundtracks, giving me personally, some of my favourite music in the world. From his Italian Westerns, to Danger: Diabolik, Once Upon a Time in America (with of course, Deborah’s Theme), The Mission and Cinema Paradiso, il Maestro, was in a category of his own. We were fortunate to work with #EnnioMorricone not once, but twice, for 3 concerts in total, the first two in 2006 at Hammersmith Apollo as part of our #DontLookBack series (2nd picture after dinner with Ennio and his wife Maria Travia) and then again at The Royal Albert Hall, (3rd picture with Barry Hogan, Warren Ellis and Andreas Bruschi in 2010) Other memories here include the #Atpfestival crew brushed up and representing at Royal Albert Hall and as I mentioned in a post a few months ago on April 10, one of my most cherished possessions, Ennio’s signature on the @jamesjean giclee we commissioned for that concert, incorporating the music to “Deborah’s Theme” on it. With everlasting thanks to @CharlieRapino for introducing us and Luigi Caiola for entrusting us twice to deliver on concerts of a lifetime for il maestro.
