Taking Care Of Yourself. In the midst of living life, being busy or rushing around, are you conscious of how you’re taking care of yourself? Taking care of one’s self is fundamental in life. Often we can forget or overlook how important this is for our daily existence. Prior to burning out, I thought I was taking care of myself. I exercised regularly (and likely at times, too much, as I was also teaching fitness) and I ate my regular meals, (although looking back, not nutritionally), but there were other areas of my being where I failed to look after myself. Can you relate? I was focused on taking care of the physical aspects of my being, but neglected other areas and perhaps even assumed that they would take care of themselves. It was only after my health crisis that I realised the gaps in my self care. At one time, whilst working with me, one of my clients commented: “Lillian, I didn’t realise that taking care of myself is a full time job”. And it is. We live in our bodies and function from our brains 24-7, and if we’re not taking good care of our vessels, as well as, creating a healthy lifestyle and environment in order to thrive, we’ll start to see our health, and well-being collapse. This is why I created the Wheel Of Wellness as a reminder of areas we get to take care of, so that we can flourish and flow in life.
