I want to tear out my hair and wail. I want to leap for joy. I really just want to go to bed. We made it. This year long journey is coming to a close. And yet our life together is just beginning. Lo fui una vez y tengo alrededor a algunos que me roban el corazón. Son sobrinos, ahijados e hijos de amigos que van conmoviéndome de manera particular. No tengo fotos con todos, son representativas. Hay muchos más por ahí, dando vueltas, muy queridos, a los que espero poder volver a ver pronto. Están los que están gigantes, los que llegaron en pandemia y los que están viniendo y esperamos con total alegría. Pienso en todos ellos, pienso en mí y doy gracias, porque tuvimos y tenemos personas que nos quieren, que nos cuidan, nuestras necesidades básicas satisfechas y un mundo por descubrir, lleno de oportunidades, siendo sostenidos y convocados. Hay muchos niños y muchas niñas que no: no tienen esas oportunidades, no tienen un red de contención y están los que sufren de la violencia y el abuso de los adultos. Que este día del niño ojalá nos encuentre pensando en todos los niños, y yo pienso y pido por todas las familias que los traen al mundo y por todos los que trabajamos por ellos durante su infancia y adolescencia. Para que haya más niños felices, para que tengan más oportunidades, para que puedan acceder a un hogar contenedor, una escuela que los potencie y una sociedad que los reciba y los haga fuertes. We got pregnant first time trying, I don’t get why it’s so hard! Mare sure you’re taking note of your cervical mucus. Soooo, when are you having kids? I know when I ovulate, I can feel it, can’t you? See a specialist. I’m telling you, you’re stressing too much and that’s why you aren’t getting pregnant. Don’t see a specialist you haven’t been trying for that long. Time for another baby isn’t it!? Just don’t think about it & it’ll happen. Hurry up and get pregnant will you! Take supplements. You should probably lose some weight if you wanna get pregnant. Make sure you’re not eating meat, or dairy, or carbs, or fats, or sugar. My doctor said I’m just super fertile. Don’t drink. Is that a baby bump I see!? Just live your life as usual. Stop obsessing over it! Do acupuncture. Don’t go to the gym. Are you pregnant? Keep exercising. Are you pregnant? You should meditate. Are you pregnant? The clocks ticking. ARE YOU PREGNANT!? The journey to conceiving can be long. And heartbreaking. And lonely. It can also be filled with everyone around you getting pregnant. And navigating those emotions, the absolute delight for your friends & family with a mixture of jealousy & self loathing is extreme. Why is it happening for everyone else but not us? What’s wrong with us? What’s wrong with...me...? You are allowed to feel everything you are feeling. Be honest. Protect your space. Try your best to celebrate life & the beginnings of it for others. Recognise your jealousy but try not to act upon it. Your ovaries do not equate to your self worth just like the number on the scales doesn’t. Our daugther is here. She came one day before her due date as I predicted on the full moon in Pisces on the 2/09, for this moon water child has been a gift from the moon as I moonbathed and prayed for years for her to come. She is so synced with the moon cycle that it seems surreal. She was born at home, in the water. ПЕРВАЯ ФОТОСЕССИЯ МИРОСЛАВЫ Как я жалею, что в свое время не воспринимала детскую фотосъёмку, а особенно фотосессию новорождённых. А знаете почему? Я говорила:.. 1. Зачем мучить ребёнка? 2. Дорогое это удовольствие! 3. Доверить ребёнка другому человеку, страшно и не безопасно. 4. Вирусы и т.д., ведь ребёнок только с роддома, да и слабый иммунитет. 5. Испытание для всех на фотосессии. Миша обделен таким событием, а вот Мире повезло. Реально повезло, дело в том, что когда я пошла на собрание для будущих мам, под названием Бранч будущих мам. Организовывает его @arevik_arzumanova в Киеве в Орли Парке. Там каждой особе при входе давали свой номерок, и мой номерок оказался счастливым. Дарили подарки, кормили всех кто присутствовал на бранче. По мимо этого отличные лекции, спикеры и подготовка к родам. А в конце вечера, конкурс и вы не поверите, я впервые выиграла такой подарок. О том, что это будет мега круто, я даже не догадывалась. Девочка @alina.piatyhor нам попалась реально профи: очень внимательная, аккуратная, вежливая, отзывчивая. После окончания, она нам сделала пару кадров всей нашей семьи, и я заказала у неё фотокнигу. Получилась великолепная фотосессия новорождённой Мирочки. На фото нашей модельке 9 дней с дня рождения. Так интересно стало, признавайтесь вы ходили на такие тусовки для беременных? Делали фотосессию новорождённых и как впечатления? In 1925 Charlotte Lawrenson was finishing up this painting Girl Knitting, while Dr. Alain LeRoy Locke published a groundbreaking work of literature entitled The New Negro. This anthology describes the renaissance happening in America at the time-- based out of Harlem, NY. It contains poetry, fiction, and political analysis of the black condition and experience in America. This movement would become commonly known to history as the Harlem Renaissance. Before becoming the father of the Harlem Renaissance, Locke was already a pioneer in his own right but also came from a long line of Black pioneers. Born in Philadelphia in 1885 to parents who were both free Black people before the Civil War, Locke’s father was the first Black employee of the United States Postal Service and his mother was a teacher and literature lover. Locke graduated from Harvard and became the first black Rhodes Scholar and headed to Oxford to continue his studies. He was denied admission to a few of the colleges there and was ostracized because of his race but did ultimately make a name for himself studying philosophy. He returned to Harvard and earned his PhD in 1918. As a faculty member at Howard University Locke was dismissed after stirring the pot to get equal compensation for Black and White professors, but was later re-hired when the first Black president of Howard was appointed. He went on to teach at Howard for some thirty years until he retired in 1953. Locke was never married but his relationship with young Langston Hughes was no secret. His writings (as far as I know, I haven’t read everything) explore his black identity more than sexuality. I wonder if he were living today what kind of writings he would make and if that would be a more central part of his legacy. He was revered as a visionary by his contemporaries and students, but also after his death. Dr. Martin Luther King remarked that “the only philosophers that lived were not Plato and Aristotle, but W.E.B Du Bois and Alain Locke came through the universe.” Came through he did, and what a way he paved for black and/or queer people who would come after him and stand confidently in his legacy. - @darcidoesit on Instagram

Apart of me, apart of you! 👼🏽 Our son Tyler William Darrington was born still on the 24th February 2020. Forever our son 💙 We fell pregnant July 2019, everything was well and we had no problems at all! He always had a strong heart beat, he always kicked me in the ribs 😅We we’re so excited to be starting this incredible journey... Until I went into labour at 39 weeks, the nurse was trying to find his heart beat. Everything was in slow motion! I knew something was wrong, they called the doctor in to check if everything was okay and the words that are broke me and my partner “I’m so sorry there is no heart beat”. We broke into a thousand pieces and so did everyone around us. We spent the next two days with our beautiful angel! He is so loved and we cherished every single moment with him! In 2019, we served over 65,000 students with free guided tours of our museum. 2020 has been quite a different story. In response to the pandemic, weve modified traditional tours and field trips, translating them into digital platforms in order to continue to serve students. Pregnancy is not new to me. Pregnancy in a pandemic is. Now, I know what to expect from my body as this is the third time I have done this. The aches, kicks, and hormones feel like second nature and while I don’t absolutely ADORE pregnancy, it is familiar. Pregnancy in a pandemic though, is just not the same and in many ways not fair. Doctor visits alone and masked. Very little physical support from friends and minimal family. No or very little “joy shopping” to adore the cute baby clothes, and tiny diapers. If delivering in a hospital, no or limited support from anyone other than your partner. Your partner becomes your doula AND photographer and we know they all aren’t cut out for those jobs. This is all just the surface of many things affected in my last and final pregnancy by the pandemic. I haven’t even touched on the fear of perhaps getting sick while pregnant. It’s a lot guys, and while this baby is a light in a dark time, pregnancy in a pandemic is hard. So to all you new parents and pregnant people, I feel you. 6of6 Yes I saved my placenta and ate it and I used a yoni steamer for my postpartum and both were so amazing and I HIGHLY recommend More to come on that later. Homebirth was something we never could see ourselves doing. Not because we were against it but I didn’t see myself as one of “THOSE” people. I loved the birthing center with Olive, I wanted to go away where I wouldn’t have to be in my own space lol and turns out home birth was one of the best experiences of my life and being in your own space during labor is actually amazing. Walking a few feet to my bed after having Wells and not having to get up again or go anywhere until I was ready was a gift. I am so so grateful for a midwife that was/is supportive of autonomous birth, supportive of a healthy pregnancy (mind soul and body), knowledgeable on so many topics, willing to risk it all to serve women in this way. I just love him so much! 🥰 Great Sunday hanging with my little baby.. Well, I guess he’s not so little anymore! We went for a swim and now we’re getting ready to make some dinner! Also I just LOVE his hair in this image, I had to grab a quick pic. One time my son was made fun of by other kids because of his hair on a bus ride to surf camp. After he had returned and told me, I thought he would want to cut it for a haircut appointment we had already scheduled the next day, but when we showed up, he said “please give me a trim so I can grow it to my waist.” That’s my boy! He knows who he is. He loves his hair and chooses to have it long. Mama and Papa aren’t going to stop him from being him. He’s beautiful and we love his hair! We would never impose any social ideas about what hair on a boy or girl should look like. We should all try to embrace our children and who they choose to be without any judgement! It is probably appropriate that my c-section scar started twinging this morning. On Mother’s Day. It doesn’t do that very often. I’m sitting in bed with my almost four-month old baby sitting on my knees looking at me. He’s touching his own knees trying to realize what they are while I spin a little ball that makes noise above his face. He’s grabbing my fingers trying to put them in his mouth while also using his monkey feet to kick my hands out of the way. This tiny monster has rebuilt my life for me. What used to be time for reading and writing and selfies and editing is now time for playing and feeding and sleeping and nuzzling. It’s true what they say: that nothing can prepare you for this. There is a magic in motherhood that just evolves on its own inside of you without you really noticing until you look back and see all the ancient instincts at play. I didn’t know what to do when (fill in the kid blank), but yet somehow, I just did it. And while it’s not difficult, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Being a mom is something I’ve dreamt about my entire life, and I’m so grateful to Orion for making me one. He beat out all the other little spermies and while I’m sure they woulda been just as cute and all, I’m pretty attached to this tiny man. Motherhood has been a test of my energy, patience, and wisdom already, and I’m only a few months in. Thank you Jesus for leading me through this, and thank you Forest for being my irreplaceable counterpart and making our life both fun and clean. Thank you to all my amazing ladies for checking in on me and wishing me a happy first Mother’s Day, and thank you to all of the amazing mothers out there who rock it every single day. I’m grateful for the little twinges in my scar. I like the reminder to look back on Orion’s birthday and remember how badly I wanted him and how incredibly happy I am now. I miss photographing families in their homes!! Between a transatlantic move and getting set up in our home, work has really taken a back seat but I miss my work.
