Happy Easter! 😊✌💕 Repost @improbablyadventuring --- So after significant testing, it turns out Im not very good at riding in sand, particularly if its deep and rutted (where I cant seem to navigate the difference between allowing the bike to self-correct and not flailing wildly into or out of a rut) and very deep soft sand that when fully laden the low power of the DRZ struggles to not get bogged down in. This one was one of my only photographical drops of the two days crossing the black desert - the others being when I got pinned under my luggage, when I was so angry that I was swearing at and kicking my bike, or the final time when I tried to send it off a dune (so I wouldnt get bogged down) and buried my front wheel and gave myself a big bruise for my troubles. In these conditions I ended up duck waddling through which unfortunately just saps the energy even more. Congratulations to Ocean City’s MIA GALLAGHER @miagallaghersurf for being named Surfer of the Week for the week of September 27th! The 14-year-old from the Garden State had a lot to celebrate after her double title performance at the 2020 East Coast Regional Championships in Carolina Beach in pumping conditions. She not only captured the premier Open Womens Regional title, she became the first NE surfer to win it since Quincy Davis in 2010. Mia is also the first female surfer from Ocean City to hoist the Open Womens Regional Cup. She made four finals at the event and took her second title of the championships in Explorer Girls. Her favorite surfers are @rissmoore10 @caroline_markss @tatiwest who are all NSSA champions and successful World Tour competitors. She credits her Regional victories to @surfesa All Star Coach and multi NSSA Regional Champion @surfcoachmotes and Ocean City professional surfing legend @keenz0 who had a standout NSSA career winning multiple Conference, Regional and National titles. Matthew Knoesen is almost 8 years old and was born with a spinal cord injury, resulting in him having extremely limited use of his legs below the knee. Matt wears braces on both legs for most of his walking outside of home, and uses a wheelchair for longer distances. Matt has always loved cars and racing and has dreamed of being a professional racing driver since he was three years old. At six and a half years old, he sat in a Bambino go kart for the first time and was hooked, and was on the podium from his third race proving Muhammad Ali right that “Impossible is Nothing”. Matt now has his own Honda Cadet kart which he is practicing in for when he turns eight at the end of this year and can start competing. Matt drives unmodified karts, using his hips muscles to push the pedals with his whole leg. He thrives on the speed and adrenaline, and the fact that he can be out in front battling for first place. Matt loves all cars, but has a special place for classics and dreams of one day racing in Classic F1 and also Classic Le Mans in a GT40, like one of his heroes Ken Miles. Matt’s other racing heroes include Billy Monger, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Nikki Laude and of course the great Ayrton Senna. Taking a close look at the Wera Tool Check Plus they really packed a lot of stuff into a small compact space. I do like how everything is very accessible, with each piece being removable with no more than two steps. . The main feature of this set is the Zyklop Mini bit ratchet that is housed on the top of the unit. This can be removed by sliding the frosted plastic to the right and then lifting it out. . The ¼” bit holder is also on the top and just slides out of the right side of the unit. Surfing is always a ticket to adventure. (1) Just tossed my board on my motorbike and went searching for the right waves. (2) Surf check at Balangan beach. (3&4) Buying petrol from this cute situation. (5) Pre-surf coffee and cookies to get amped up after the long drive. Surfing may be the most aesthetically pleasing adventure I can ask for. The sounds of the ocean. The color of the water and the sight of perfect waves. The feeling of duck-diving under an incoming set, and the steep drop into an Indonesian reef break. The smell of surfwax. The salty taste of the sea. Even the curves of my surfboard look and feel sexy to me. The view of land while I’m out at sea is awe-inspiring. What a life I have led, what a life I continue to lead. I’m amazed. I didn’t necessarily strive to be on an adventure these days, but it just keeps happening. Thank you, nature, for embracing me. Reef Check 2017 campaign in Reunion Island, the beginning of it all. 🐠 Three years ago we were dreaming to shoot and film underwater stories. So we looked around, and got involved with the local association we thought was the best, @reefcheckfoundation. We borrowed a camera at work (nobody explicitly gave us the right to 🌝 ), and showed up at their events. We did our best; it was crap. But we came back, and we went on and on filming crap, our weekends spent freezing in the lagoon trying to get the best out of our little gopro. These moments have now turned into lovely memories. Woody smashed his 200m open water swim this morning with @paulsadlerswimland. Hes been having swimming lessons for just over 12 months and just hit level 12. Another unforgettable weekend in the books at @lorettalynnmx for the first round of @promotocross , with deep muddy conditions in the morning it made qualifying interesting to say the least. Managed to qualify 33rd straight through practice into the motos! Had to dig deep in the second practice to secure my spot and avoid the LCQ. 27-31 for 33rd overall! So stoked to finally put the 962 on the gate with the fastest dudes in the country! Learned alot in the 30 minute motos and know exactly what i will need to work on to be better for ironman!
