A huge benefit from this campsite was the hardwood forest surrounding it. Yes, they provide great scenery in autumn but they provide even better firewood. Finding good firewood in Maine is frequently a challenge due to thick softwood forests, but this area was loaded with maple, beech, and birch which all burn hotter, longer, and leave great coals for cooking. A sign in the window of an ice cream store in Bar Harbor, Maine, advises people to stand a moose apart. It must have helped. Maine has maintained some of the lowest Covid-19 numbers in the country. Stringent travel restrictions played a part too: In early April, the land of blueberry pies and L.L. Bean rolled up the welcome mat, mandating a two-week quarantine for all arrivals. The reins slightly loosened over the summer, letting visitors skip the quarantine by taking a Covid test. A lot of time, energy, head-scratching and everything in between went into the making of this Striped Bass. It is mounted on the front of @charliesbaitntackle. This piece was made using recycled cedar shingles from the bait shop it rests on. A cedar face was hand carved and burnt. The eye was poured by @charliesbaitntackle using a two part resin.
