消失的永夜之城｜「三不管」的九龍寨城 九龍寨城曾見證香港過百年歷史發展，期間被稱為「三不管」地區，然而隨着清拆工程，九龍寨城現已不復存在，成為一段逐漸被遺忘的香港回憶。這座永夜之城，故名思義，位於英殖香港的九龍城區。回顧在1898年簽署的《中英展拓香港界址專條》中，大英帝國讓滿清政府繼續駐兵管轄九龍城寨，有着今天領事館的地位，亦是當時清朝官員辦公之地。 所謂的「三不管」，其實意指中國不管、英國不管、香港不管。九龍寨城之所以被賦予這個特殊稱號，是由於二戰結束後大量露宿者開始在城寨聚居，後來的國共內戰亦導致大批難民湧入城寨，導致城寨人口急劇上升。受制於先前簽訂的中英條約條款，當時的港英政府和皇家香港警察因而無權踏足城寨半步，而新中國政府拒絕管理城寨事務，最終使逐漸成為三不管的罪惡溫床。 當時三不管的九龍寨城，絕對是一處藏污納垢之地，圍城內妓院、賭場、鴉片煙館無一不缺，黃賭毒更是猖獗一時，是大毒梟的最佳藏身之處。此外，非法衞生情況極之嚴重，當中有不少未經註冊的非法診所，吸引許多未成年少女前去進行非法墮胎。在七八十年代，多部電視均以九龍寨城這個惡名昭彰的罪惡之都作為題材，例如麥當雄的《省港旗兵》、杜琪峰的《龍城歲月》、錢小豪的《城寨出來者》等著名經典港產片。 隨着時代的推進與變遷，九龍寨城終在1993年遭夷為平地。現在我們所看見的九龍城寨公園，地址正正是城寨的前身。無庸置疑，城寨予人感覺一般，是黑暗、色情、暴力、血腥、罪惡。然而九龍城寨這座大型老舊圍城，見證香港百年歷史，城寨的清拆同時象徵時代的進步。縱然九龍寨城已經徹底消失在香港的地圖上，然而它為我們帶來的種種記憶和歷史，每位香港人都應該牢牢謹記在心中。 Follow us @ellemenhk #ellemenhk #ellemendailyglow #kowloonwalledcity #hongkong #kowloon #colony #darkness #brutality #evil #sin #drug #dirty #dangerous #britishempire #chineseempire #三不管 #九龍寨城 #九龍城寨公園 #圍城 #港產片 #省港旗兵 #龍城歲月 #城寨出來者 #永夜之城 - @ellemenhk on Instagram

It is with much sadness that we advise you of the passing of Bruce Ing, one of our amazing and dedicated volunteers since 2012. Bruce was very involved with the “Save The Zoo” Campaign and helped with the llama pen activities most weekends. He often brought his son with him and the two of them showed visitors how to hand feed the llamas and hold the rabbits and chickens. They also volunteered many hours at the Christmas event where Santa visited his Reindeers. These past few years Bruce has been one of our llama pen Coordinators. His enthusiasm when it comes to the zoo animals and enhancing the activities was contagious.
