The largest airport terminal building in the world: 1.4 mil sqm!!! Capacity : 90 mil passengers. @igairport . Regardless of its beauty and scale, i think what is so special about this terminal is that you dont get checked by Avsec as a transfer passenger: basically just like plane-to-plane movement. Strange huh. . But what I dislike is the WiFi. The reason why the old Ataturk airport was so bad because there was no WiFi. They improved this new one? Yes. But only 1-hour allowance. Years ago as I worked on naming the brand, I knew I wanted to give it a Yoruba name and couldn’t really decide which. I kept going back to my name, Busayo which means ‘addition to our joy’. I finally settled on Busayo because I wanted our clothing to be alive, to be a celebration and to engender joy in everyone that interacted with our work. I am profoundly grateful to be part of Styling: Black Expression, Rebellion, and Joy Through Fashion, a beautiful and profoundly joyful exhibition curated by @souleouniverse and presented by @longgallery at @nordstrom. The exhibition celebrates the Black legacy of using personal style to channel self-expression, rebellion, and joy. Despite all of the challenges that Black people face across the diaspora, our capacity for joy in the face of tremendous challenges has never diminished, my work aims to celebrate and affirm our vibrancy through an unbridled use of color. In honor of Independence Day, we remember the 2014 #PhxArtFashion exhibition, Fashioned in America. Curated by @PhxArt Museum’s Dorrance Fashion Curator Emerita, Dennita Sewell, the exhibition presented more than 40 ensembles and accessories by contemporary designers such as Ralph Rucci, Anna Sui, Nanette Lepore, and J. Mendel with the goal of examining how economics, ecology, and labor ethics continue to drive the revival of U.S.-produced fashion, a cultural shift with wide-reaching economic implications. The exhibition was presented in tandem with the release of Make It in America: Empowering Global Fashion (2014), a documentary directed by James Belzer and an edited version of which was featured in the exhibition. Fashioned in America also included a visual history of the garment industry and interviews with key makers, designers, and influencers still working in fashion today. Réalisée après la disparition d’Henri Matisse, cette pièce voit le jour grâce à une maquette de l’artiste réalisée en 1952 et au talent du céramiste Hans Spinner qui lui donnera vie dans les années 1980 sur une commande du petit-fils de l’artiste et à la demande du Ministère de la culture. Matisse avait imaginé cette installation en découpant des formes de papiers gouachés et en les épinglant sur les murs de son appartement à Nice. Le MOMA à New York possède d’ailleurs cette maquette préparatoire de « La Piscine », achetée en 1972. L’inspiration pour cette oeuvre est venue des nageuses de la piscine de l’Hôtel Eden Roc au Cap d’Antibes. Les formes et la couleur sont typiques du travail de Matisse.
