Akhirnya saya mulai jalanin bisnisnya, hari demi hari waktu demi waktu, saya pun mulai dibentuk diproses dan diproses, selama diproses saya pun menyadari bahwa sebetulnya saya tidak sejelek yg orang lain pikirkan, saya pasti bisa lebih baik setiap harinya. Drawing on the ideas and voices of some of the most influential voices in hip hop: Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, 2Pac, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys, and Big Sean, Pill in the Peanut Butter merges the two in a series of hip hop meditations created to inspire, invoke reflection, and expand awareness. His story as the first person to give Ty a guest slot through to making early connections between the Uk jazz scene of Quite Sane and abstract dance to working on seminal projects from Ronny Jordan, The Young Disciples and Dodge City to pretty much single handedly creating an entire scene based around Bruk or Broken Beat... from the day he played me ‘my history’ as New Sector Movements It was obvious something new had risen from the London Streets... you could argue that a club like Plastic People wouldn’t have been such an iconic space had it not been for CooP, the Sunday night session he fronted... this was the night that opened the door to Skream and Benga’s ‘Forward’ and other forward thinking club nights. We briefly had an excuse to postpone it even further when the first edition came out because covid hit, and the retailers shut their doors… :(. . However, it ended up being only a series of simple emails and phone calls that had us figuring it out. Months earlier we had contacted some distributors (having no idea how it worked), and they said they couldn’t consider it until I sent them a finished magazine. Which was funny because to get a barcode, you need a distributor, and to get a distributor, you need a magazine with the printed barcode on it, lol… . Any way, we contacted BC Ferries, and they put us in touch with a wholesaler who then told us we needed to be with a distributor that they already work with, like Disticor, and if we did that, FOLKLIFE would be perfect on the ferries. They were the same distributor we had previously inquired with. Soon after sending the finished product, we got an email from them saying: . “Thank you for sending a copy of Folklife for review. I think you and your team have done a really nice job putting the issue together. We would be happy to represent Folklife at the newsstand.” . This was the most exciting news ever! And we couldn’t imagine just how exciting until right now, as FOLKLIFE has started hitting the shelves. And sure, newsstand sales make no money for anyone, but we knew that, and it’s just not an industry you can be in for the moola). . The first one we found was Vancouver’s Whole Foods on Robson. We went in for a delicious muffin, having low expectations that it would actually be there…and there it was. A huge stack on the first shelf! We were so excited, hopping around, taking pictures, telling the staff what a great magazine it is, buying a few for ourselves (they need to sell, so we can get the next edition everywhere). . Then we continued to find them in random shops around Alberta and BC! We have no idea what makes an idea something super legit. Was it in the creation of it? The printing of it? First released on the French label BYG/Actuel in 1971, the companion volumes of The Solar-Myth Approach were essential in introducing Ras monumental program to an international audience. As with many Arkestra records, the information on these gatefold packages was dubious at best. Here they appear with corrected lineups and dates, showing that the music actually stretches back to the early 1960s, but was assembled into a beautiful chronological mosaic that serves as a gripping survey of early-post-Chicago Ra. Its an ideal way to start listening to his music, and for his fans absolutely essential items in the gargantuan discography. These LPs have been reissued a number of times since BYG/Actuel folded, and with each new batch the fidelity has diminished, so that theyve been a pale shadow of the original recordings. During this time scientific progress in Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography and Philosophy flourished in Moorish Spain. . “Moor” derived from the Latin word “Maurus,” was originally used to describe Berbers and people from the ancient Roman province of Maurentania in what is now North Africa. Over time, it was increasingly applied to Muslims living in Europe. Beginning in the Renaissance, “Moor” and “blackamoor” were also used to describe any person with dark skin.[1] . Moors/”blackamoors” where also present in Tudor England, with some of the most notable examples including the royal courts trumpeter, John Blanke and a west African named Diego Negro who helped Sir Francis Drake in various expeditions as his ‘chief conductor’ that showed Englishmen new routes to the North and South Atlantic.”[2] .
