In memory of Todd Youth, I’m sharing my display at Tower Records for his band Son Of Sam. He came up with the idea of the alma mater of Samhain, Danzig and some new blood returning to the roots of that music. I met Steve Zing at Tower and he was one of the first people on albums I owned and loved being interested in my art. This lead to doing art for the band as well as his side project, Doomtree AKA Marra’s Drug. Heres a good story. My asthmatic ass will be staying in for a while so please enjoy the throwbacks before I get back to it. This is 2015 (?) me with the most expensive piece of art I ever sold. Getting into that gallery was a random goal I set while talking shit with my friend @thetommyface one day. It didnt seem possible, I had done literally nothing and this is where some of the biggest street artists in LA were showing. The gallery was doing a lot and I was told that @aplusk considered buying this piece. I was new to such fancy galleries and super geeked out. Anyway, the point is the piece was sold for 3k under our agreed upon price without consulting me. Also it took almost 5 months to get paid and then the check bounced. I had to drive down there to get a new check but he didnt cover the fees. I asked him for cash and he gave me the few dollars he had and the most priceless thing, a signed IOU for $11 on a post it. And THAT, is the real piece of art here. Meanwhile he was posting pics of oysters and yachts on ig. The point is, dont believe the hype. Holy shit, happy 15th birthday to “Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking?” Apparently 15 years ago @tennesseebunny, @charlottefroom, and I put out our first record, right out of highschool, produced by @wigmusic at @soundcitystudios and @sunsetsoundrecorders. My sister @alexandraberg_ painted a tender fawn for our American album cover and the UK cover prominently features the hair wrap I got on tour with @kingsofleon and my affinity for wearing rosaries for necklaces.
