In my mid 20s when I broke up with my boyfriend, I would do anything for them to be skinnier and used it as an excuse. Years later, during COVID I found a nutrition coach at the Method Now and she upped my calories, told me to eat all the food and didn’t over complicate anything. During this time my exercise and general fitness routine diminished to say a ‘normal’ persons routine. I put on 5kgs and was the heaviest I’ve been! Well... let me tell you! Putting on weight is a hell of a lot harder than losing it. 1 - watching your weight increase and your pants getting tighter isn’t fun! 2 - you cry 3 - you lose your self worth a little 4 - it’s easy to fall into the ‘oh well’ mentality with eating 🧁🍔 5 - unlearning restrictive habits, mentally and physically is F***ing hard. I literally complained, cried, wanted to stop eating the food because it hurt my stomach, ate beyond my means, drank less water, scrutinised my body and complained some more! Sorry @monicaae12 😅 A few months forward and now my mentality has changed completely! I am training like I use too, however I am no longer restrictive eating. I have kept the weight on. I have learnt to embrace my curves, I am lifting heavier, I eat all the foods, try to stay accountable and I got my cycle back! Safe to say... everyone has their own journey to figuring out what works for them. We all have our own mental battles surrounding any health or fitness journey. If we really focus on the good parts we will notice that the journey teaches us more about ourselves and is more important than wanting to change our image.
