Heading into this weekend like💃🏻 *** *** Im convinced Im a 90 year old soul stuck in this body. Because my idea of fun for finally having a weekend off is to eat all the desserts I can find/Caribbean food and catch up on reading 🤓 *** *** I’ve always heard and continued to hear from friends about how I never “go out”. My idea of fun or “going out”(even in college sorority days) was never to go out drinking and get wild. Ofcourse I had done it, but it was never that fun for me and I did it more for others than myself not to mention felt like 💩 later. *** *** My idea of going out is going for a hike, run, beach, gym, getting lost driving/walking around. Fun is eating or cooking food I haven’t tried, reading, exploring museums or arts, traveling to different places and learning its history, dancing in the house to salsa while dropping crumbles of Cheez-its I’m chewing out my mouth. *** The older I get, the more I value my time off. I don’t get much of it anymore, and since it’s the one thing I can’t get back I strategically invest in it... my “fun” time included. *** *** I guess my point is that, I value my ME time and my FUN under the definitions I’ve created that fit me. It hasn’t been for a while and it won’t be compromised at what the definitions of others may be. For the friends that have respected my grandma ways for a while and compromise with me, ily. *** *** Point is, if some weekends your idea of fun is catching up on reading, organizing the house, hiking, overall staying low....That’s fine and you go at it. St Patricks College was thrilled to welcome back one of its favourite sons today, who donated an unique piece of history back to the College. Marathon runner Steve Moneghetti (SPC 1975-80) recently unearthed his SPC athletics running singlet which he wore exactly 40 years ago when representing the College in the Annual Lap of the Lake. This seems to be an unpopular opinion but leg day is the best day🤷🏼♀️ I love feeling the burn and pushing heavy weight! Adjusting the the equipment I have now and I know I am very lucky to have access to weights and a machine since gyms are still not open in my area! As I sat here this evening, watching my best friend get her evening run in, I got the opportunity to just sit and think... all by myself.. something, even with COVID-19, I rarely ever do. I just really think that there’s so much more to running, powerlifting, bodybuilding, playing sports, learning to play a musical instrument, schooling, and anything else that comes with hardship. I think it all ties in with the word ENDURE. Whether we’re actually talking about endurance sports or not, there are multiple times in a person’s life when they must endure something that is causing them physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual stress. In order to move through these challenges and come out on the other side as a stronger human being, we must ENDURE this pain or stress. I think this is the exact reason why I love competing so much.. and it’s not so much the competition and outcome that i fall in love with but the process. It’s the constant enduring through practice, constant repetition, and eagerness to learn more that it takes to develop a particular skill or talent that may not come natural. By constantly putting things in our lives that require ENDURANCE, physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually, we become more immune to the things in life that we can’t control but still must ENDURE. On another note, I finished 5th out of 158 runners in my 10 mile trail race today, consisting of an elevation change of more than 2,000 feet. Not yet where i want to be but constantly moving in that direction! I encourage everyone out there to find something that requires them to endure just a little bit of stress every single day. I promise you it will make a difference in your every day life. Also, thank you to Taylor and @kellypbeane for the continuous support and love. We can’t do anything in life entirely on our own. It can also promote proper function of the shoulder blade and lead to a healthier and stronger shoulder. It is also responsible for holding the scapula against the rib cage. . 1️⃣ 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗕𝗢𝗫 𝗧𝗔𝗣𝗦 Start on all fours with your hands underneath your shoulders and knees under the hips (alternatively, you can start in a push up position). Place one hand above the head on an elevated surface following by the other hand and repeat. . 2️⃣ 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗪𝗟 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗔𝗣: Start on all fours and drive your hands and feet into the ground to lift the knees off the ground. Take one hand off the ground and gently tap the opposite shoulder. Oder wenn sie im Winter Ewigkeiten zum Trocknen brauchten. Ich hasste Tage, an denen sie einfach nicht so lagen, wie ich es mir vorstellte. Oder an Tagen, an denen ich die seltene Geduld für eine Frisur hatte, die aber nie länger als 30 Minuten hielt, weil meine Haare einfach zu dick und zu schwer waren. . Einen Buzzcut konnte ich mir nie vorstellen- ich fand es einfach nicht schön. Weil es so ungewöhnlich war, für eine Frau. Weil wir alle täglich so viele Frauen mit langen Haaren sehen, dass unser Gehirn alles andere komisch findet. . Ich bin froh, dass meine Haare jetzt ab sind. Was für eine Erleichterung! As I think about competing again at 44 and after a bilateral achilles repair last year, my goal above all else is to truly enjoy ALL OF IT! I believe it’s crucial to have something on your schedule that you really enjoy and look forward to! We know we need rest and recovery from training but we also need things that fill our soul. I tend to not over complicate things so patients don’t get overwhelmed. 👉My primary goals after knee surgery are to restore knee range of motion, get the quads activated and reduce swelling, simple as that. 💡While the goal may be simple, the importance of educating the patient on WHY its important is huge. Wearing #texturedinsoles can reduce postural sway, but the exact brain mechanisms by which these changes occur are not well understood. 💥PUSH UP PROGRESSION💥 A push up can seem like a simple exercise, but requires sufficient upper body strength. What if I can’t do 1 push up? 🤔 What do I do once standard push ups become too easy and they aren’t challenging anymore? 🤔 This post will answer those questions. 👍🏻 1. Hands Elevated / Incline Push Up This simple regression allows for the athlete to make their push up easier by elevating their hands more, or more difficult by elevating their hands less. 2. Push Up From Knees This progression shortens the lever of the body requiring less force to be produced by the prime movers (pec major, anterior delt, and triceps). 3. Eccentric Focused Push Up Lowering your body slowly while your muscles are lengthening focuses on the eccentric action of this exercise. We are able to handle more load eccentrically which is why this regression will prepare us for standard push ups. 4. Standard Push Up 5. Feet Elevated Push Up This body position puts more load foarward requiring the prime movers to produce more force to execute the exercise. 6. Small changes can lead to massive results. I think this is just about true in every aspect of life. We feel like we need to completely revamp everything to make any change in our lives. We think we have to completely change our daily routine, when maybe we could have got the same results from going to bed an hour earlier than we usually do. That is what happened here. While I only improved my left side ER a little bit, it made a massive change in the amount of tension I had on that left side. This left me feeling good and ready to go for the rest of the workout (which in the end is what we are really looking for in a warm-up). I first addressed a rotation problem in the pelvis by performing a 90 90 hip shift with adductor squeeze. I then addressed my ribcage rotation issue with an offset quadruped breathing exercise. What I have found is if you don’t fix the rotation first, your body isn’t going to stop trying to correct that rotation and pull you to the other side. Because of this, it is going to be very difficult to lose tension. Finally, I finished with a seated dorsal rostral move to expand my lower ribcage and gain that ER at 90 degrees shoulder flexion. - @pave.fit on Instagram

You know that time your smart watch tells you to get up and move. Sometimes you ignore it. Sometimes you don’t know what to do. . Here are a few movements you can do to correct that “desk posture”. You want to get your body in the opposite position you’ve just been sitting for hours and mobilize your spine a little. . 1- standing spine roll- start at the top. Tuck your chin and try to roll down your spine 1 vertebrae at a time, you can’t, but focus on that idea. Get to the bottom and hang out for a couple seconds and then do the same thing going back up. Do this movement twice. . 2-shoulder rolls - the idea here is to correct your upper back posture. On our phones and computers our shoulders often end up forward. So stand tall. And roll your shoulders back and down. Hold briefly and repeat 10 times. Really focus on squeezing your scapula together and opening your chest up. . 3- single leg over - lay on your back, bring opposite knee to hand. Now as you pull your knee across your body look to the side of that knee (left knee, look left) and keep that shoulder on the ground. This movement is stretching your glutes and lower back as well as mobilizing your lumbar spine. Do each side for :30 . 4 - cat cow - your going to get into an all four position with knees under hips and hands under shoulders. From here all you’re going to do is try to push your back as far away from the floor as possible (like a cat) then you’re going to try and drop your spine to the ground as far as possible. Repeat this movement 10 times on each side. . 5 - laying back extension - lay on the floor face down. Now all you’re going to do is pick up your chest off the floor and your knees off the floor. Make sure to keep your scapula squeezed together and squeeze your glutes. Hold at the top briefly. Repeat 10 times. . And it’s as simple as that. When you phone or watch say “hey get up” it doesn’t mean go for a run or to the gym. Just get up a move a little, get your posture in the right place, then back to work. - @nyu_strength on Instagram

Ustedes, ¿cuántas veces se han tenido que mudar desde que llegaron a Chile? ¿Les gusta o les cuesta? Esta es mi tercera vez y creo que siempre hay un pequeño duelo. Me impresiona también la cantidad de cosas que uno acumula y a las que uno se aferra. Ahora uno de mis objetivos es vivir con lo menos posible, pero cuesta. Curiosamente, no sentí tristeza al cerrar la puerta del departamento, de hecho, estoy emocionado y ansioso por una nueva etapa, porque sé que lo mejor siempre está por venir. 💛💛💛 PD1. If you’re looking to take up running this iso, consider this spicy exercise as part of your #warmup. The Single Leg Glute Bridge with Hip Flexion creates a co-contraction between the glute and it’s opposite hip flexor (much like it does when you are running). You can use a band as resistance but if you don’t have one available, just apply resistance with your hands. Always a good idea to come back to the basic #hathayoga poses. But I love to play around with some flipped grip poses as well as the half #bowpose for example (swipe left). My entire right half thanks you immensely. 🤣 Incorporated some cupping therapy & myofascial stretching in today’s visit. Feeling so much better already! Trying to really stay on top of my recovery game! I am giving this prep my all, 1000%. I am pushing my body to her limits. Between seeing Anthony, my corrective exercise specialist, and Dr. Mike Rice, my chiropractor- I am doing much better taking care of myself and improving recovery. But I could be better! Next on the list: being more disciplined and practicing yoga more consistently again. And of course- doing more Pilates with my incredible mother. 💗 Brick by brick, stone by stone. 50 classes. 50 times that I told my body I am strong. My 50th class was combos and bands with @jilliangoodtree my absolute favorite format🤩. Yesterday I did 400 knee drives and I couldn’t stop smiling. Each class and instructor challenges me in a new way in every day. Jabs has changed how I look and think about myself.
