Growth isn’t comfortable, growth isn’t easy, growth won’t come to you out of nowhere. It’s funny to me how many people will leave you life on your own path to success, I’m not particularly speaking of succeeding in your career ; more like, succeeding in finding what makes you happy; cause actually that’s what a lot of people don’t know even for themselves , and let me tell you this: if people can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t. But here s my advice; if you want something; go get it! It doesn’t matter how funny or ridiculous it might sound to other people. A lot of people don’t even know - that I had no support from my family - when I decided to chase my dream - to become the best beauty photographer on the world. I do get, that It might’ve sounded crazy to everyone around me , cause I literally had no relation to photography except a few nice selfies. But I had a dream. And no matter how many people told me to let go of that dream, I was holding on to it. Even, when nobody liked what I was doing, even when I was in debt, even when I doubted myself. And that’s how you will succeed not only in your career, but in life. It’s not about where you come from , because I didn’t come from a wealthy, supporting family myself. It’s really all about what you make out of your situation. There is always an option, there is always a way. And eventually your hard work will pay off at some point. Just look at my picture. If I would’ve stopped when people told me to - I probably wouldn’t even be a photographer today. Get knocked down 3 times stand up 4 times. If you want something, go get it !!! Jaslene Busanet, Eden Estrada and Joslyn Allen survived a brutal attack last week in Hollywood by a mob of men so righteous in their violent cis supremacy that they recorded the attack and posted the footage to social media. They treated the violence they enacted on these women as content -- as if chasing, threatening, beating, taunting and stealing from another person is entertainment. The footage stunned me to silence for a week. I won’t subject you to it. Instead I marvel at our sisters who are still here: Joslyn, Jaslene and Eden. We must marvel at how they took back their power by writing their own narrative. After that traumatic evening (“It was absolutely the worst day of my life,” Eden said), they reposted the footage from their attackers (two of whom have been arrested) but this time the videos included their voices. Here’s what @Jaslenewhiterose, @Joslynflawless and @Edenthedoll were subjected to: A man stole Edens phone, and when she approached him to retrieve her phone, his friends threw rocks at her. As the women fled, they were chased down the road. Someone threw a scooter at Jaslene. She was hit in the head and fell to the floor as Eden pled for help. Meanwhile one of the men threatened to kill Joslyn. He held a crowbar to my face and threatened to kill me unless I stripped my shoes off and gave him my jewelry and all my processions, Joslyn wrote. He said if I was trans he would kill me. He then forced me to hold his hand while he looks for my friends to kill them for being trans. Meanwhile men and WOMEN screaming that I’m a man and telling him to beat me. I salute you, Joslyn, Eden and Jaslene for defending one another, for reminding us of the resiliency and necessity of trans sisterhood, and for holding us accountable to the ways our society fails to protect Black and brown trans women. The violence they faced that night is not unique. This is the kind of shit trans folks fear on the daily.
