FIELD REPORT: Epic work by @rpalmer415 and the Greno Trail Clean Crew 💥 . It was always planned to be a low key thing with a few mates, just to avoid complications with social distancing. . I should also thank Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust for giving permission and for the loan of the litter pickers. . My ‘favourite’ item from yesterday was the kid’s umbrella. What sort of person just throws that into the undergrowth when it breaks? . Generally though we were pleasantly surprised on the amount of litter. Greno has 3 trails, Steel City DH being the most popular and that was where 90% of the trash was found. The other two runs, Pub Run and DH3 were pretty clear. There are less places to stop and session on those trails so I think that’s the reason. . We got a bag full in the car park too, where there are litter bins! Anyway, it was certainly well worth doing and we got plenty of thank you’s from the riders. . 🔶 World Cleanup Day - 2020 🔶 So, I managed to get along two of my batch mates @shreem__28 & @sujith_vreddy to join me on a cleanup of a canal yesterday. It was a very shocking experience for me because I witnessed the same amount of trash littered around here as I have in India and on the beaches in Dubai. Thats made me understand even more the magnitude of how much of a problem plastic is. By the time we were done, we managed to collect 5 kgs+ in just an hour! We collected everything from cigarette butts to entire footballs from the canal. The guys took the footballs home to use for themselves but the rest of the stuff was disposed off in the garbage chute. We also had three people stop by to talk to us and say thank you and its always nice to have other people acknowledge your efforts. Also, we found two carcasses of ducks that had signs of death as a result of the plastic in their territory. #WorldTourismDay ♻️🌳 While tourism makes a comeback in many places, its important not to forget that were all still responsible for keeping our environment clean as we travel around to see beautiful places. Yesterday on World Tourism Day, our team at #Sahastradhara near #Dehradun helped the District Tourism Development Office (DTDO) organize a cleanup of the waterfall areas. We were joined by 7 young volunteers and 2 DTDO office staff who were quite excited to get into the water and clean up waste littered into the stream. So if youre seeing this and are planning your next trip, please please keep in mind that you should always find and use dustbins around you. If you cant find a bin, just hold on to your waste, it wont bite :D Put it in a bag, take it back with you where you will eventually find a bin. This Saturday we took part in World Cleanup Day, an annual global social action program aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including the problem of marine debris. This year we partnered with @the_litterboom_project and some amazing local businesses for a week long #cleanyourstretch program to help rid our local beaches of the waste that plagues them. The teams were stationed at 3 base locations around Durban where compostable bin bags were provided and collected afterwards: Beachwood Country Club @colombo_coffee, Durban View Umhlanga (@coffee_kartel) and Ballito (@concha_cafe). Thank you to everyone who came through and took part. The clean up campaign will continue throughout the week. Alle Jahre wieder... Walter Röhrl & Christian Geistdörfer bei ihrem jährlichen Besuch im Münsterland. Diesmal hatte #KOCHER-RACING die Ehre den Zwischenstopp zu organisieren. Schnell stand fest, dass wir keine bessere Location als bei unserm Partner, dass #Nettedrom in Osnabrück wählen. Die beiden Legenden kamen zunächst getrennt, zum Treffpunkt. Zuerst Christian aus Richtung Norden und Walter aus Richtung Süden. Walter kam im Sportwagen Convoy und nach ca. 2 Stunden ging es im gewohnten Doppelpack mit jedem Menge PS Gefolge weiter. Natürlich gab es in gepflegter Atmosphäre, bei Kaffee, Kuchen und Kaltgetränken interessante Benzingespräche. Bei diesem Termin durften wir exklusiv die die zweiegatige hochmoderne E-Kartbahn nutzen. Sehr viele Gäste nutzen die Chance und gingen Gruppenweise an den Start. Natürlich auch zwei Racer, Fabian & Tim, aus dem Team KOCHER-RACING. Der Hauptverantwortliche Paul Sch. & Friends waren absolut zufrieden, so wurde uns bestätigt. Zahlreiche Kontakte wurden geknüpft und die Neuauflage einer professionelle Oldhimer Rallye, die in 2021 vom Nettedrom bzw. den Stadtwerken Osnabrück, organisiert wird ins Visier genommen. We have come to the end of support by British Gas drivers for our foodbank delivery service. Most will now be going back to fixing and servicing our boilers, though some may be able to continue voluntarily.
