But I 1000% support a far better option of a person to make decisions on laws and aid than our current racist, evil, manipulative, scum bag of a human who currently wears the very privileged title of president of the United States of America AND IT’S TERRITORIES. The debates last night. 😑 Our president didn’t denounce White Supremacists. He told the Proud Boys hate group to “Stand back, and stand by.” Watching the DNC live coverage a few weeks ago was surreal and hugely impactful to me, seeing people from every state and territory speak on behalf of their community. How often have I considered all of these places in my vote in previous years to this? I’ve thought about some but I didn’t think about all until watching the DNC and that hits hard. I thought I was voting empathetically, but I still have so much to learn about how my vote impacts BIPOC In other states and “territories” of the United States. I will be voting for Biden, hoping there will not be 4 more years of Trump dismantling the minimal things that we have to support BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, womxn and disenfranchised people suffering in America. Please, my friends, protect those with health problems who will be at risk of losing opportunity to accessing medical financial support. One of my best friends was just diagnosed with MS. She is 35. Another friend of mine’s daughter was just diagnosed with Diabetes and her Insulin costs are INSANE. Think of all of the people in this country right now who have lost their jobs or have minimal to no work because of the ongoing pandemic and they couldn’t get on unemployment. Please my friends who do not identify as Democrats, be you Republicans, Libertarians, Socialists, Communists, “not into politics”, however you identify, please please please still vote Biden/Harris. There were scientists who put fleas in a jar with a glass lid on top. After hitting the lid, the fleas condition themselves to never jump higher than the lid. Even when the lid is taken off, they never escaped, only jumping as high as the perceived lid. When referring to faith, I feel like so many times, I am that flea. Stuck in the jar, never reaching my potential because I think there is a lid. But the truth is, THERE IS NO LID on the power of faith. The only limits to faith are self-imposed. Truly, there is nothing we cannot do in the strength of the Lord. Samuel was able to gain powerful, clear, detailed revelation about the future coming of the Messiah and was protected from rocks and arrows as he finished his message to the people. Nephi, son of Helaman, asked for a famine to fall on the land to bring the people to Christ, and it was given to him. The mothers of the stripling warriors prophesied that “that if [their sons] did not doubt, God would deliver them.” (Alma 56:47). The sons “did not doubt that their mothers knew it.” In fact, they believed so strongly in their mother’s promise that they told it to Helaman. They had faith, and it happened as their mothers said. They were all saved. President Nelson has said, “We need women who know how to make important things happen by their faith.” The key to this kind of spiritual power? The Lord says it to Nephi, “all things shall be done unto thee according to thy word, for thou shalt not ask that which is contrary to my will.” . When we know God’s will, we have access to his power. We can “change what is and make things happen that would otherwise not happen.” (Elder Christofferson) . Ask in faith. United Airlines will become the first US airline to offer coronavirus testing to its passengers. It will offer the testing for Hawaii-bound passengers beginning October 15 out of San Francisco. The testing will help passengers avoid an otherwise mandatory 14-day quarantine. The first couple months of medical school have flown by!! It’s hard to believe we are wrapping up the first course (hematology & gastroenterology - better known as blood & guts). Sharing a few takeaways: Bacteria is your friend, but also your enemy, and sometimes both? Learned some stethoscope things so it’s only a Halloween costume 90% of the time now. Your liver is pretttttty important (and is also an alien that can regrow itself). Still mostly zoom university but there’s been a FEW things in-person including communications, one of our exams, and a few hours in a heme clinic. Looking forward to a more interactive future. [Keat Hong Frontline Heroes] 💪 Last Sunday, together with Keat Hong WEC and YN volunteers, we gave out 500 care packs to our SMRT staff and bus captains, frontliners at NTUC FairPrice, eateries, our community club, and our food delivery riders. They each receive a special care pack bag sewn by Threads of Courage, a community project aimed to empower less privileged individuals with sewing skills to supplement their income. Amazing four beach stops on our little anniversary Saturday trip (Ventura, Carp, Santa Barbara. And Padera).... we were 90% “Covid rule friendly” (face masks, and abided by local beach rules - even though each beach had distinctives at times). Summertime 2014, “The Docks”, a 150x200cm oil painting. You can see some details of the paint more up-close in the following photos. In the last photo and video I am with Roberto Ascóniga, wonderful human being and director of @enlaceart in which collection is this painting, in the very good company of some of the most prestigious Latin-American artists! But let’s talk about them... I met these two Russian girls, Olga and Xenia, in Barcelona. I asked if they wanted to volunteer for some photos for a future painting and they liked the idea!We walked along the beach, then, along the docks, we managed to find a way to jump down and reach a more secluded area where we took the photos. It was a fun day, we made friends and eventually they were surprised very positively by the results of the painting, not expecting that I would represent them like this, they found it very cool! Where is away?🌊 More plastic washed ashore an undeveloped beach..some bit up by fish & young sea turtles. Most of this is avoidable by using plastic-free reusables or making things at home. @travelwithapaddle is stoked to be part of @parley.tv x @corona south west tour and out on the beaches collecting ocean plastic in our local area. Around 80% of what we found was fishing nets and the rest was either plastic or PPE... We first began working with @parleymaldives to fight plastic on local islands, so it is great to be able to do the same back home. The beach can often look clean when you start... but once you start finding plastic under the stones, you just can’t stop! It’s everywhere! It was nice to meet other locals litter picking the shoreline too and discussing the best ways to dispose of the waste we find daily.
