Backstory : A close friend whom I helped few years back called me yesterday That friend is so close to my heart She is an important piece of my world. She was once lost and I helped her pave her path like I had done for myself when I was in her position. Now she is faced with the same situation where she can help someone. Someone who had been hurt, lost , ignored and abused emotionally. That person is a normal teen who has been looking for the right role model and the right attention. I won’t get on too much detail but I’ll say this I only agree with therapy if you’re sick , need it or require medical and mental health attention. I am screaming this She is not fucking sick ... she was abused She’s not crazy so stop thinking medication is the solution. Being in healthcare I can tell you healthcare system can be shady. Don’t put your children through a system of mental specialists visits and on a cycle of anti depressants and such when you can just fucken LOVE them. Stop dumping them thinking your damn job as a parent is over. All I ever needed when I was going through this , is someone who would be there for me I needed to know I can lean on someone when the days are hard I needed to know that if I was hurt, there would be someone that would care enough to check on me. Lifes to short to be unkind to yourself, love the skin youre in NOW! - - I never really had any body issues in my younger years, nothing extreme anyway. I got teased for having no boobs in school ... but hey, look at me now boys 😜😂 About six years ago I started getting into the gym scene and decided to try my hand at bodybuilding. I did a total of 3 competitions (bikini) which was a solid 4+ years of meticulous planning. Shoutout to ANYONE living this sport because it truly is a lifestyle. The time and deduction the athletes put into their prep is unreal. I loved the time I spent competing and the people I met during this time of my life but it wasnt something I could see myself doing long term. After I made the decision to stop competing I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis which kept me completely out of the gym for well over a year. Its been 6 years (I think) since my last competition where I placed 4th and became a nationally qualified bikini competitior. I do miss getting glammed up and showing off my hard work but I am enjoying the balance of my life now. Its nice not going to the gym everyday.. and eating snacks whenever I want to. Everyone told me once I stopped competing I would never be happy with my body again. I can understand why some women feel that way because there are definitely things I miss about my body. But besides the few things I miss, there are so many new things I love. I still set goals for myself, their just a little bit differnt than the goals I was setting before. No matter where your at on your journey... dont let your mind bully your body. WHY MY LONG (and chipped) NAILS REMIND ME OF MY POTENT POWER 💅🏼⚡️🔮 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the past, I alwaaays had super short nails that were always chipped...because whenever I got a manicure as soon as I could see and feel them peeling ever so slightly, I went into attack mode, picking and peeling them all off. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I always would admire peoples long nails and *wish* I could have long nails too. I tried my best to grow them, but they wouldnt grow. I just chalked it up to the fact that my nails couldnt grow long. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then when I became certified in NLP, I learned a technique called the Swish Pattern, which installs choices for a new identity...and if youre familiar with the Logical Levels of Change (which we teach in-depth inside of our Certification), then you know once your Identity is transformed, it has a trickle down effect and therefore automagically changes your Values + Beliefs, Capabilities, Behaviors, and Environment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I honestly thought it was a whole bunch of hocus pocus, so I decided to have fun with it and try the impossible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I did the technique working on my nail picking habit, but didnt approach it from the *doing* but the *being*. Who would I be without this habit? Who was the version of me who didnt pick their nails and who had long nails? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She was confidently sharing her craft, so tapped into her magic, and was head over heels with all aspects of her life. She didnt have any interest or desire to pick at her damn nails! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After I finished the quick technique, I was like...Ok...cool...not sure anything changed. But then it did. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had gotten a gel manicure that week and 3 MONTHS LATER, I still had the polish on! Yes, there were chips, but I wore them with pride because they were there and yet I did NOT pick at them. As we close out the 5th month of our new reality and one of the most challenging times of our modern era, I can’t help but reflect on how much the world of work and leadership has been altered. .🕯 Over the past 150 days, the future of work has quickly became the now of work. 2 meses de esta foto. Mi hija Mérida estaba a punto de nacer. Gracias a que la pandemia ya estaba más controlada pude acompañar a Candela en todo momento en el parto. Pero hubo un momento en el que me hicieron salir de la habitación. Tenían que ponerle la epidural y yo tenía que salir 30 minutos, lo que duraba el procedimiento. Y tardaron 20 minutos más. Nada más. Y simplemente porque se complicó un poquito, nada grave. Esos 20 minutos que estuve esperando fuera fueron los más largos que recuerdo en mucho tiempo. Y pensé. Pensé mucho. Pensé en todos esos padres que durante años tenían que esperar fuera mientras sus mujeres daban a luz, sin saber si todo iba bien o mal o regular (los hemos visto en muchas películas fumando sin parar) Pensé en todos los padres que durante el confinamiento no han podido pasar al parto y han sufrido esperando. Y por supuesto pensé en toda las personas que tienen que esperar a las puertas de una habitación o en sus casas un resultado, un análisis, una prueba. La incertidumbre ante la salud, ante la enfermedad. La fragilidad del ser humano. Se nos olvida en cuanto tenemos salud y “todo nos va bien”. Pero no lo olvidemos nunca. Ánimo, fuerza y todo mi cariño a los que estáis en esa situación. Mucha calma y mucho amor para esos momentos. Son duros pero pasarán. Hey. Hi. Hello. 🙃 So much time has passed since I posted anything at all here and for that, I have an explanation. That makes it sound like I feel as if I owe one, and I don’t. I do things because I want to, if and when I feel they are necessary and/or important. This feels that way to me. The past year has been a strange one. For many months, there were things that felt all-consuming: preparing to move and then moving, acclimating, teaching, and now isolating. I was all over the place in terms of routine, food, and movement for a while, and am finally working on allowing myself to be NEW. I’m not looking to get back, but to become something that fits my life now, instead of an old image of myself, remade. I’ve been working on nutrition with @nourishmygut for about a month (highly recommend - sometimes we need help and that’s okay!!!!) and feel like that’s coming together. Yesterday was a difficult day for me, though. I went to donate convalescent plasma and I wasn’t able to go through with the donation because I only had one viable vein and it was still bruised from the blood draw for the antibody test. This kind of thing puts me back in a weird state of mind because I was previously very held back from doing things by an obese body, and now a combination of weight gain and a lack of physical fitness is keeping me from doing a thing I think is so essential to a culture of mutual aid and community support. It’s probably a weird thing to get sad/frustrated about but here I am. I have a renewed motivation to get to a place where I can run when I want to but even more importantly, to have a more balanced view of fitness than I did before. I’m aiming for flexibility (physical and mental), adaptability, and consistency. I’m actually feeling excited to see where I can end up with this shift. I appreciate you guys for sticking around and being such a supportive community for each other - I see it every day and it’s truly uplifting. Things have changed a lot for so many of us and it’s important that we all have a place where we can get and provide support. The battle within to regain my voice. .✨ For over a decade the stage has been my medium for communicating ideas and shifting perspectives. .✨ I’ve never had a big social media following, no best-selling book, no viral articles to influences the masses. .✨ But what I have been blessed with is the incredible gift of rooms. I got rattled. .✨ Flooded with feelings of grief and a deep longing for the ways things were, I’ve been forced to confront all of my fears and insecurities. .✨ Confronting the reality that perhaps not a rebuild but a reengineering was required. .✨ The past three months have forced me to draw upon every book, every inspirational quote, every mentor, every lesson learned in order to regain my footing and mount my comeback. .✨ A year ago I wrote post talking about mastery. .✨ In the post I said, “mastery is realized when we can stand in the face of uncertainty, brokenness, less then stellar-ness and say with clarity and conviction, “I’ve seen the future and I will not be thrown off my game. Despite the stark reality facing us in the here and now today, I know with certainty where I’ll be tomorrow.”” .✨ Mastery can only be obtained through experience. It must be lived. It must be fully lived and felt. Meaning no matter how much we’d rather read about overcoming challenge then actually face them ourselves, to expand and transcend we too we’ll need to face down our own crises, calamities, and chaos. There is no predicting when our moment will come but I can promise you it will. Life gives us exactly what we need to expand. .✨ I didn’t know at the time I was writing for my future-self. . Muy disconforme con la actuación del referee anoche que también paró tan mal la pelea de mi compañero @vinney_pantaleon que todavía está en el hospital. No tengo nada que decir de mi rival un duro muchacho que si fuera por él seguía peleando pero no es su culpa. Él mismo se siente un perdedor, todos lo sabemos. Espero que la comisión tome medidas en la cuestión, que por favor miren bien los videos. Le estábamos dando a la gente un buen show. Yo estoy nuevo, para pelear mañana mismo, Andrew Richardson porsupuesto que no. Pero las injusticias existen y anoche me tocó vivir una. My friends, Ive been alive 3.5 decades, and I spent 1/3 of that time living a lie. I was in a career that was so far from who I truly was, and I felt like I was pretending every day to try and be someone I was not. I didnt belong in an office quoting interest rates and pretending to care about what the Minister of Finance had to say about economical forecasts. But for 10 years, I set my alarm every day, put my pant suit on, and went to work. I slapped a smile on my face, and told myself to be just be more grateful. Finally, the Universe slapped ME in the face with a wake-up call that STILL shakes me to my core every day, even though it happened almost 10 years ago now (cant believe it, it feels like 5 minutes ago). A close family member was diagnosed with a terminal illness, whom wasnt all that much older than me. He passed 11 months later after months of suffering in excruciating pain. I realized then, REALLY realized then, that I was just EXISTING in my life, I wasnt truly LIVING it. So my world was knocked out of orbit, and I took a path less travelled. I left my job in finance, and I pursued my childhood dream of destination wedding photography. With the help of AMAZING mentors, coaches and teachers - I became a full-time, award winning, magazine published, world travelling wedding photographer.
