Πλατεία 1821 – Σπλάντζια Η πλατεία της Σπλάντζιας, σημερινή Πλατεία 1821, βρίσκεται στην ανατολική πλευρά της παλιάς πόλης των Χανίων. Αποτελούσε την κατεξοχήν τουρκική συνοικία της πόλης με κέντρο τη σημερινή πλατεία 1821. Σήμερα στη βορειοδυτική άκρη της υπάρχει η βενετσιάνικη εκκλησία του Αγίου Ρόκκου, ανατολικά της πλατείας η εκκλησία του Αγίου Νικολάου και στο κέντρο ένας τεράστιος πλάτανος. Κάτω από τον πλάτανο υπήρχε ένα οκτάγωνο αραβικό κιόσκι, στο οποίο είχαν δικαίωμα να κάθονται και να απολαμβάνουν τον καφέ τους τιτλούχοι της πολιτείας και επιφανείς μπέηδες και αγάδες. Πάνω στον συγκεκριμένο πλάτανο οι Οθωμανοί, στις 19 Μαΐου 1821, απαγχόνισαν τον επίσκοπο Κισσάμου Μελχισεδέκ. Ανάμεσα στην εκκλησία του Αγίου Νικολάου και τον πλάτανο βρίσκεται η τουρκική υπόγεια κρήνη, η δεξαμενή της οποίας είχε τέτοια χωρητικότητα, ώστε να καλύπτει την πόλη των Χανίων για έξι μήνες. Τα τελευταία χρόνια η συνοικία της Σπλάντζιας έχει μεταμορφωθεί από φτωχή περιοχή με σκοτεινά σοκάκια σε μια από τις πιο δημοφιλείς συνοικίες της πόλης. 18 and fresh out of school with some A-levels and pubes on my chin. Was lucky enough to visit Studio 80 in Amsterdam , July 15 before it shut down the following January. The club was hidden behind two big black doors in between a bunch of bars with no obvious signs of it being a club. Inside it was really Intimate, only one room was open that night with the DJ booth in one corner with a few vertical strip lights either side and the bar was in the opposite corner. A two levelled box in the middle of the room meant you could really get stuck in with everyone around you. It was only a resident night and the atmosphere was mega, everyone was super friendly and didn’t seem to even mind my naive use of a disposable camera inside 🤦♂️ later that week they celebrated 10 years of the club with Steve Rachmad, David Vunk, Young Marco, Marcel Vogel, San Proper and Helena Hauff to mention a few which would have been a cracking weekend. - @digital_position on Instagram

Growing up in the 90s, the influx of South Indian imports into Bollywood was a huge thing. And while the women around me swooned over the Nagarjunas and the Kamal Hassans, my interests being more inclined towards the playback singers mic, diverted all my appreciation to this man, who sung his way into our hearts with some of that eras most memorable melodies. His voice was solely responsible for many a films success, and while he propelled films and undeserving actors into stardom, SP Balasubramaniam was a man who Bollywood conveniently forgot and sidelined when the filmmakers of today realized that they now cater to a generation that has no place for melody in their hearts, brains or I-phones. The only fitting tribute Bollywood ever gave the legend in recent times, was in Vasan Balas Mard ko Dard Nahi Hota, a film dedicated to the era of the South Indian import influx. Thank you for remembering SP Sir, @vasanbala ! Im only familiar with SP Sirs Hindi songs, which I guess dont even make a fourth of his vast repertoire. But Ill name my favourite song of his anyway: the underrated Aake teri baahon mein from Vansh, which many from my generation wouldnt even recollect. Which is yours? COVID, you darned virus. During the monarchy period, access to the Palace grounds was limited to the Royal Family, their staff, and guests. Admission was granted only if you knew the password, had an appointment, or were coming to work. After the overthrow, government officials, residents, and visitors to Oahu enjoyed free access to the grounds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Today, the grounds are under the jurisdiction of the State Parks Division of the Department of Land and Natural Resources. . listening to lectures in a language i dont know, taking the longest and least comfortable travel train routes around the country all the way while standing, going to a parent-teacher meet in a school to get advice on how to be good teacher and a parent, queueing in a ticket collection counter of a sole cinema hall in a village only to not sit in hall afterwards, deliberate sleeping with a diary and a pen beside myself to get ideas for writing from a dream i could have and remember, standing on tip of my toes on the railings of balcony just the amount of time to overcome my phobia of heights, stuffing the lift of my floor with unused furnitures present in the store room and leaving the right amount of space not to exceed the lift capacity and just to let me enter in, breathing in claustrophobia- breathing out fear, watching a highly rated horror genre movie with perfect background settings- all doors opened and left creaking, stormy windows, middle of the night, dim and depressing, delightful lights for birth of sounds and shadows that only i could listen and see, comfortably sitting on a sofa- rotating my eyes in clockwise and at the same time rotating my head in counterclockwise direction spontaneously and simultaneously, building a colony of ants by dropping sugar cubes in a zig-zag line, collecting dust of all ceiling fans and making a rangoli drawing out of it , downloading an AI monitored app and splashing my vulnerability to a robotic chatter harder than the water i splashed this morning from bucket while bathing and reporting my thoughts to a diary every 15 minutes through illustrations and flowcharts. The State Bank of India building on the historic Street of Chandni Chowk is a grade A category building. Over the years various adhoc alterations, additions were carried out on the building, disfiguring its historic character. Discussions between INTACH Delhi Chapter and SBI resulted in an agreement in 2002 to restore the façade of the building. The conservation project was divided into phases and work commenced towards the end of 2003 and was completed in March 2004. The façade restoration, though a small step, was a step in the right direction towards the conservation of Chandni Chowk. This conservation project lead to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to issue letters to other bank buildings on the street to follow suit. . . . . MAFine Art graduates in Paris Screening: ‘The Angel, Azrail’ at BétonSalon Center for Art and Research, Paris Date: 26th of September 2020 4-6pm Programme: ‘Bivouacs #2 / Breathing Out of Scool by RAW Academie’ ‘The Angel, Azrail’ is a film project made from the contributions of 35 women who interpreted poems written by Mustafa Boga. Based on the poems, the creators were asked to make films of around a minute long by using any type of film medium they preferred, including performances, short films, animation and music videos. The poems depict the moment when Azrail is on earth to take the life of those who are dying. They are written from Azrail’s perspective while helping people to accept their death. In the poems the main character is Azrail who is often identified as Azrael, the Angel of Death, in the Hebrew Bible. The Qur’an also refers to Azrail, and in the Islamic Persian alphabet the spelling is Izrail. The name translates to ‘the help of God’, ‘help from God’, or ‘one whom God helps’. La Catedral de Caracas, antiguamente denominada Catedral Metropolitana de Santa Ana, es el templo religioso principal de la capital de la República, localizado en el centro histórico de la ciudad, en la Parroquia Catedral del Municipio Libertador. Esta iglesia se empezó a construir en 1665 y fue concluida en 1674, a cargo de Maestro y alarife Juan de Medina, luego del terremoto de 1641 para sustituir la pequeña iglesia en honor a Santiago Apóstol que estaba en su lugar. Su fachada es de 1771, en tanto que para 1932 y en los años 1960 se hacen otras restauraciones y cambios en el templo. El 23 de septiembre de 1957 la Catedral fue declarada Monumento Histórico Nacional. Este edificio de arquitectura neoclásica posee un gran valor histórico y patrimonial. En su interior posee algunos retablos barrocos, e importantes pinturas en su mayoría por pintores venezolanos como: José Lorenzo Zurita, Fernando Álvarez Carneiro, Juan Pedro López, Cristóbal Rojas, Arturo Michelena, Antonio Herrera Toro y Tito Salas. In 1962, an Italian satirical cartoonist Walter Molino reimagined and illustrated the Urban-Transport of the future (2022). Published in the Italian newspaper La Domenica del Corriere. It translates to: “Will we go around cities like this? #deSOVMODisation ⭐Гостиница “Славутич”. Авторами проекта были архитекторы Вадим Евстафьевич Ладный и Генрих Станиславович Кульчицкий. Ее снимки можно увидеть почти в каждом советском альбоме про Киев. Такое внимание она заслужила своей архитектурой и живописной локацией. 16-этажей модернистской гостиницы расположили полураскрытой книжкой на искусственном острове жилого массива Русановка, в месте впадения Русановского канала в залив Днепра. Открыли ее в 1972 году. Она успешно работала и принимала более 500 гостей столицы одновременно. При новых рыночных условиях гостиница начала потихоньку загибаться. В 2008 году ее попытались оживить. Там провели внутреннюю реконструкцию, добавили конференц-залы, сделали ремонт. Через 8 лет Славутич был закрыт, из-за конфликта собственников. В 2019 году земельный участок с закрытой гостиницей Киевсовет передал в аренду на 25 лет ООО “Хотел Проперти”. В 2020 КГГА разрешила им реконструировать гостиницу “Славутич” - фото 3. Ее превращают в офисный центр. Проект разработала архитектурная студия IDEOMA Architecture в составе команды Zotov&co. Хотелось бы узнать, как вам реализация проекта реконструкции? Сейчас гостиницу полностью очистили от внутренностей, обшили фасад, полностью перекрыли ячейки балконов новым остеклением. Работы продолжаются. 🤷Очень грустно. Снова модернистскую достопримечательность Киева превращают в безликую груду пластика, используют странные решения, называемые современным дизайном, а городские власти этому не то что не препятствуют, а даже способствуют. 🇬🇧 in comments - @child_of_socialism on Instagram
