25 years old today and 💯 one of the best tenners I’ve ever spent. This record has given so much to me. It has literally appeared in different forms to me over the years which is honestly hard to explain. I never really heard it played in clubs or on radio at the time - it felt like it inhabited a different lane anyhow. It is dreamlike, like a dream about itself, like an essay about it’s history and it’s future, about its intellectual ingenuity, it’s core, rhythm, time. I remember hearing so much derogatory shit at the time that dance music wasn’t to think about, and as young person I knew this wasn’t the whole truth - I knew it wasn’t simply reducible to a club experience only.
