Friday our offices each closed for a half day (while the other was open) to hold our annual staff meeting. 📁 During this meeting we update on office protocols, complete required HIPAA and OSHA training, and more. 💉 After the meeting we had a flu vaccine clinic for all staff. We require staff to be vaccinated to help fight flu. 😀 Well be offering many flu vaccine options throughout the flu vaccine season - clinics in our offices 🏢as well as drive through 🚗. Check your childs portal to sign up - if there are openings youll see them in the portal. If there arent options it means were waiting on a new shipment of vaccine. ☎️**Please be patient and dont call to ask when the next clinic will be.** Our phones are ringing off the hook with parents concerned about their sick or exposed children and we need to focus our attention on those calls. Tying up the lines with flu shot clinic questions limits our response time to medically necessary calls. Theres a lot that goes into planning flu vaccine clinics and as soon as theyre planned, theyre put in the schedule that shows on your portal. There are many times parents know before I do because Im seeing patients when the spots open up and they were in the portal before our visit. 📅Remember that if your infant or child is in the office for a scheduled appointment they can get vaccinated at the appointment. We encourage people to take this opportunity - not only will your child get protection, but you leave a spot in the vaccine clinic for someone else. 🎃There is still plenty of time to get your vaccine before our typical flu season hits! Nothing changes if nothing changes! This time last year I had major resistance to something. I fabricated justification after justification so it made sense in my brain: maybe it was “winter blues”, exhaustion (3 kids), too much on the to-do list, you bet I found excuses and decorated them up as viable reasons. I was resisting attending events. I had already attended all of the conferences (invested nearly $20k). I already knew everything, it’s just the same regurgitated content, right? I couldn’t afford it, kids needed new boots and Mama had bills to pay. How could I justify childcare for a “party”? See, all the “reasons” but what I realized once I got my head out of my 🍑 was this resistance came from fear. Fear of being heard. Fear of being seen. Fear of being judged. Fear of feeling like an imposter. Fear of not being enough. When my dear friend @businesswithsarah asked me to speak at the @gcwsummit last year, after I vomited and had a panic attack, my mindset changed. I saw the insane value this experience brought to the attendees. The collaborations and lifelong connections, the endless opening doors of opportunity, the power of high vibrations and surrounding yourself with the right people. The impact and clarity “regurgitated content” actually provides. I made a pact that weekend that I was going to show up big in 2020 whether I felt like it, or not. Whether I had “extra” money, childcare help, time or not—because I am worth it! So are you! Because I recognized this was a self imposed limitation and I chose to push through the discomfort of my “reasons” I’m not only speaking at 5 events (so far) this year but I’m hosting my own, and in the application process for TEDx. This I can say is 100% because I was willing to put myself out there. I was willing to invest in my personal growth. I was willing to change the dialogue from “I can’t and I won’t” to “I can and I will” for the price of what I used to spend on a pair of jeans or a night out 🥴 If you are a mom and have been getting that nudge that there is more out there for you, that’s because there is and it starts with a small decision to show up for yourself. Its been an adjustment, especially for someone like me who thrives on routine.⠀ ⠀ Some lessons learned in these 6 months:⠀⠀ 1️⃣ Trigger the start of my work day. I still get ready, eat breakfast in the kitchen, and then bring my coffee upstairs to begin my day. Our commute and office used to tell our brain its time to work. Feel free to go sans makeup in glasses and a ponytail some days. ⠀ ⠀ Super #woke and sweet, but no thanks. I DO enjoy going audio-only sometimes, though. Not worrying about how I look allows me to concentrate on the 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵 of the meeting. Im actually sharper when the videos off. 3️⃣⠀Keep a running to-do list, but be okay if theres carry over to the next day. I find myself much more scattered and unorganized than when Im in the office, probably because of all of the chats, channels, calls, etc. Old-school written lists are my saviors. ⠀ I used to work for a healthcare company, and my director was a no-nonsense Vietnam vet. He came in my office one day to ask how I was doing because I was always working late. Okay, just behind. He said You will never feel caught up, so the more comfortable you are with being behind the happier youll be. Ever since Ive been okay with leaving things on my to-do list for the next day.❤️ ⠀ 4️⃣ Embrace flexibility. I get severe video-meeting-fatigue by around 4pm most days, and its hard to switch gears. Ive found that it helps to call it at that point, and have some personal time until after dinner.
