Egyptian donkeys were likely descended from the Nubian wild donkey, popular in Predynastic iconography. The ancient Egyptians employed donkeys primarily as pack animals; when an allied local ruler at the turquoise mines of Serabit el-Khadim in south Sinai appears riding a donkey, his mode of transportation probably marks his “foreignness.” Unlike the Sumerians, the Egyptians did not use donkey-drawn wagons in military activity (check out the so-called Standard of Ur). 😳 5 lugares que nos han impactado de manera especial en #Caracas ❤️⁣ ⁣ Aunque la lista es muy larga, seleccionamos 10 lugares (en 2 entregas) cuyo descubrimiento nos dejaron sin aliento , bien sea por haber sobrevivido al violento proceso de modernización, por la grandeza de su pasado o por su rareza o historia particular:⁣ ⁣ 1.- Caño Amarillo, con los restos de la antigua estación de ferrocarriles y al frente, la Villa Santa Inés (Foto 1), el arco inconcluso y las ruinas de la almacenadora Santa Inés. Nos pareció ver al propio Joaquín Crespo y a su esposa “Misia” Jacinta dándonos la guiatura por los alrededores de sus propiedades. 👫⁣ ⁣ 2.- La Parroquia La Pastora: Una caja de sorpresas a cada paso, para todos los gustos. Solo a manera de muestra: El Puente Carlos III, un anciano que aún no se jubila, la única casa museo de la ciudad (Museo Arturo Michelena), el museo al aire libre en La Puerta de Caracas y el callejón Sanabria (Foto 2), una mezcla de Art Noveau y Art Deco en su versión “tropical”. 🌴⁣ ⁣ 3.- La actual Casa Museo Cuadra de Bolívar (Foto 3), era originalmente la casa de “campo” de la familia Bolívar ubicada entre las esquinas de Piedras y Bárcenas, (Parroquia Santa Teresa) muy cerca del río Guaire donde seguramente los niños Bolívar Palacios iban a bañarse. Esta bien preservada y mantiene su esencia original. 😍⁣ ⁣ 4.- Cuando caminamos por las sencillas calles y casas de Los Rosales, de repente 🙆🏻‍♀️ , no podemos creer lo que vemos: en una de sus calles aparece la quinta “Micomicona” (Foto 4) , una espectacular mansión neocolonial ocupada desde los años 40 por la familia Zuloaga-De Las Casas. Hoy es sede del Centro de la Diversidad Cultural, está bien preservada y a la espera de que la volvamos a visitar.⁣ ⁣ 5.- La emoción nos embargó al límite, cuando por fin encontramos la única casa que aún está en pie (foto 5), de las muchas donde vivió el Beato Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, ubicada entre las esquinas de Mijares a Mercedes. Things on my mind in 2020 Part 1...... Conceiving Harpies and getting to work alongside some brilliant arists such as @yourlucky_star who made these images for Harpies 👯‍♀️🏳️‍🌈 👯‍♂️ fills me with gratitude. These images encompass so much I think about class, sex, work, Britishness and the farce that is UK politics. As we are about to endure another 4 years of Tory rule, the inevitable is going to happen; the rich will get richer and the poor get poorer with the number of people living under the poverty line in the UK to rise, 5 million children. The living working wage stands at a unrealistic £8.21 an hour which leaves the most vulnerable having to make difficult choices under pressure. Some turn to work that is in high demand, better paid but yet criminalised and deregulated, which can result in leaving those people at the hands of the state. As a person who has the privilege of presenting my gender the right way, my race the acceptable proximity to whiteness and my body on the right side of constructed beauty standards, I could work in a environment that meant I was safe, autonomous, very well paid and empowered to the point you can be under a white supremacist capitalist patriarchy. I didnt need the money, I wanted to go to art school to study queer theory and perfomance art. My choice to dance was half research half earning potential, my decision came from a standpoint of agency. Therefore as intersectional feminist I have a responsibility to bring awareness to those who arent as fortunate as I was. It really is time for us to turn our attention to those in the most precarious of situations and status turning to work out of desperation for survival in the UK. Work in the desire industries is legitmate work whether or not your moral compose starts twitching behind your net curtains when thinking about the intimacy involved (the definition of intimacy well thats another conversation). So abolition isnt really a realistic or ideal goal at this point in human history but trying to keep people safe is. Last night was a great night of celebration for myself, my family and many other people near and dear to me. I was proud to have been able to piloted our homegrown Chickoree Charlie to 2 Champion standings, 2 Reserve Champion standings and 2 top Ten NRHA World Placings. Many thanks to the Ontario Reining Horse Association; Berenice and Dan Fletcher and the banquet committee for doing such a fantastic job (again). Thank you goes to The Ivey Group and Jonas Performance Horses for sponsoring my limited and intermediate np championship awards and DM performance horses and 5th Avenue Dental for sponsoring my prime time and non pro reserve championship awards. The buckles are goregeous, the blankets are perfect and I can’t wait to see the custom spurs when they come in! Loris , a huge congratulations and thank you is in order. It was great to see you rewarded for your dedication. Thank you for being the coach and person that you are. Giorgia and I are both better riders/competitors because of you - and this years results are a testimony to your guidance. I love being part of Epis performance horses! This group is a perfect combination of serious competitors, and fun loving and supportive team mates. They helped make last summer truly “Epic”.
