Springfield M1903 Springfield M1903 adalah sebuah senapan bolt action milik amerika yang masuk dinas pada tanggal 19 Juni 1903. Senjata ini diproduksi oleh springfield armory. Awal pengembangannya dimulai saat perang amerika spanyol 1898. Dimana tentara spanyol bersenjatakan mauser M1893 membuat reputasi mematikan. Apalagi saat pertempuran bukit San juan dimana 750 tentara spanyol berhasil menahan 15.000 tentara amerika bersenjatakan Mauser M93. Saat itu tentara amerika hanya memakai springfield rifle versi lama dan kragg jeferson 1898. Saat perang selesai, ribuan mauser M93 milik spanyol dirampas dan dipelajari secara ekstensif di Springfield armory. Terbukti bahwa mauser M93 sangat superior dibanding senapan amerika. Oleh karena itu dimulailah pengembangan senjata baru oleh springfield armory. Prototipe pertamanya diluncurkan dan diproduksi tahun 1900 dengan nama model 1900.30. Namun model tersebut ditolak dan springfield kembali membuat senapan baru dengan menggabungkan fitur mauser M93 dan kragg jeferson 1898. Model kedua bernama Model 1901.30. Model ini akhirnya disetujui dan masuk layanan tentara amerika pada 19 Juni 1903. Pada saat amerika masuk perang dunia 1, 843.239 senapan ini telah diproduksi di springfield armory dan rock island arsenal. Tentara amerika memasangkan bayonet diujung senapan ini pada saat itu. Memiliki kinerja baik namun perlahan digantikan oleh M1 Garand mulai tahun 1936. Namun senapan ini masih dipakai saat PD 2 berlangsung. Apalagi pasukan US marine corps masih menggunakannya. On 3rd June 1918 Williams and a division of Marines were assigned to help the French Army 🇨🇵 at Belleau Wood. When asked to retreat by a French Colonel he said Retreat, Hell! We just got here! . On 11th June 1918 Williams led an attack that routed the German defenders at Belleau Wood near Chateau-Thierry, France. According to a French Major, after he ordered Williams to withdraw, Williams replied with Go To Hell. Sometime later Williams was gassed and injured by shrapnel. He was lying wounded in battle. The medics came to him and Williams said Dont bother with me. Take care of my good men . Williams would die from an artillery shell while being evacuated. French 🇫🇷 Mle 1884 Kropatchek, 11mm Gras. If only this rifle could talk! It was manufactured in 1885 and initially saw use with the French military. During the First World War, it was sold to the Russian Empire and is marked as such, as the Russians were desperate for small arms, purchasing large quantities from abroad. It was then eventually sold or given to Republican forces, and used during the 1936-39 Spanish Civil War.
