Is skipping around and wanting to learn a bit of “everything” bad? I used to think that was a huge flaw of mine. Wanting to learn graphic design, wanting to take photos and learn image editing, wanting to record videos and learn how to edit them…I thought that I would never find something that would really call my name. Now, decades later, I’ve come to realize that being uncertain and having the eagerness to learn proved to give me a unique foundation of skillsets that I utilize on the daily. A weird turn of events for sure. Funny thing is that I never went to school for any of it. I majored in Information Systems & Operations Management, which has no correlation with the above whatsoever. I got a job, I got a paycheck, I did good work, but I was always working on something creative on the side. Something that fulfilled my own interests and worked the creative side of my brain. Now that I look back on my journey to where I’m at today, I realized that I’m a constant learner and usually go with the unorthodox route. I’ve made plenty of mistakes, paid for em, and learned from em. The weird thing is that I plan and want to make plenty more mistakes. And you know what? Update for you on the trial for the McMichaels: Both defendants have filed motions for bond. Georgia law uses four criteria to determine possible bond for defendants. They include: 1) No flight risk 2) No danger to people or property in the community 3) No risk of committing another felony and 4) No risk of witness intimidation. The motions for each man argued that they were not flight risks and essentially attempted to hold them up as upstanding citizens. Specifically, the motion for Travis had exhibits attached that had pictures of him and his son and discussed Travis military record and commendations to justify granting him bond. Gregs motion merely asked for a bond hearing and notes that his counsel will present evidence to support a reasonable bond at the hearing. Also, in a separate motion, the two men have asked that two charges be dropped, challenging the way the counts are described in the indictments (its a form argument and not substance). Now, all this legal language. What does this really mean? 1. The court will set a bond hearing soon for the two men, since they have filed motions. Probably within the next several weeks. 2. The court will also rule on the motion re: the charges. It is very unlikely the court will rule in their favor on this. Interesting: Mr. Bryans lawyer basically said, Us too and asked to join the motion on dropping the two charges. Look out for details on the dates for the bond hearings in the near future. This 1972 Ford Condor II motorcoach based on a Ford truck chassis was used by the chairman and co-founder of McLaren Engines as a trackside hospitality vehicle at various USAC, Can-Am, and F1 events in the 1970s. Earlier this year, this classic piece of McLaren history came up for auction. After 49 bids, it sold to McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown for $32,500. Insiden dialami wanita berusia 40-an itu terjadi apabila batang ujian calitan berkenaan menusuk dasar kepalanya sehingga menyaksikan bendalir cerebrospinal keluar dari hidung, sekali gus menyebabkan dia kini berdepan risiko jangkitan otak. Penelitian awal mendapati proses saringan yang dijalankan terhadap perempuan itu berkemungkinan tidak dijalankan dengan betul, namun pakar berpendapat insiden sedemikian jarang berlaku dan risiko sebarang komplikasi daripada ujian calitan kekal rendah. Pakar Otolaringologi-Kepala dan Pembedahan Leher dari University of Iowa Hospital, Jarrett Walsh, berkata petugas perkhidmatan kesihatan profesional sewajarnya mengambil langkah berhati-hati ketika menjalankan ujian saringan terhadap pesakit. Sehubungan itu, katanya, individu yang mempunyai masalah sinus atau pernah menjalani pembedahan dasar kerangka otak sepatutnya memilih untuk mendapatkan saringan secara oral. Wanita berkenaan pernah menjalani pembedahan hernia elektif, sebelum dikatakan mengambil ujian calitan di bahagian dalam rongga hidung. Dia kemudian sedar bahawa suatu bendalir tidak berwarna mengalir keluar dari salah satu rongga hidungnya. Selepas itu, dia mengadu mengalami sakit kepala, muntah, ketegangan di bahagian leher dan alah pada cahaya, sebelum ditempatkan di wad untuk menerima rawatan lanjut di bawah jagaan saya. Ujian calitan ini bukan perkara baharu baginya kerana dia pernah menjalani sebelum ini dan dibuat pada belah rongga hidung yang sama, malah tiada masalah. Cuma mungkin ujian kali kedua ini tidak dijalankan mengikut teknik terbaik dan batang ujian calitan dimasukkan terlebih dalam, katanya. Police officers and firefighters teamed up to rescue almost a dozen ducklings from a deep drain in the middle of one of Aucklands busy motorways today. Motorists spotted the family of ducks on the southwestern motorway, near Mount Roskill, and the police were called just before 10am. Sergeant Andy Meale said when officers turned up, there were no ducklings in sight - but they heard some quacking from a drain in the middle of one of the lanes of traffic. [The officer] had a look down and it was quite deep and he could see there were probably nine or 10 ducklings down there, he said. The mother was floating around the motorway, in the vicinity, sitting on the concrete barrier between the south and the north-bound lanes. Meale said the police arent really equipped for this sort of operation, so they called Fire and Emergency. They very kindly sent two trucks down. Firefighters were able to get the grate off the top of the drain. They used a canvas bag attached to a rope and a long stick to prod the ducklings into the bag and get them out of the drain. The whole operation took about 15 minutes, Meale said. Mum was keeping an eye on things but then she jumped on to the north-bound lanes. We were trying to shoo her away and she only took off at the last second as a car just about ran her over. She flew towards an area of bush on the western side of the motorway, so once the fire service had all the ducklings picked up, they drove around there in their trucks and found a small stormwater lake. Mum was floating around there with some other ducklings, so as soon as they released the ducklings they had recovered, mum swam over very excitedly and got the whole group together and that was a reunited, happy family. I did it... I build a Windows-based computer.... Ive been exclusively an @apple guy since I was in college, and NOTHING could bring me back in to the Windows ecosystem. I had a Mac Pro trashcan that I bought in 2013 for $9,400 that was fast at the time... As I upgraded cameras, the resolutions kept getting bigger and bigger and playback during editing kept getting slower and slower. A few months back Jarred Land from @reddigitalcinema revealed they had been working with @nvidia for real-time playback of 8K footage. I was drooling... A major case of FOMO. I had held out hope that during the WWDC conference they would unveil a new machine that would replace my current main machine. If you watched the broadcast, you know what happened next. I hopped on Amazon and bought parts to build an editing machine that would last me a while... After consulting with the guys at Puget Systems, here is what I built: - i9 9960X 16 core 3.1ghz processor - 128GB DDR4 2666 RAM - Dual Samsung 970 Pro 1TB NVMe SSDs - Dual NVIDIA 2080 Ti Founders Edition GPUs - Gigabyte Designare EX Motherboard - EVGA 1200 Watt power supply - Custom loop watercooling with CPU and GPU @ekwaterblocks - Dual radiator setup - Phanteks Evolv X Case Fun project to work on, and I am surprised at how not terrible the Windows transition has been. I just wish I could get my darn CMD key to function in windows. I have to undo 20 years of muscle memory with that one... The only other hiccup was getting the Windows installer to see the NVMe drive- but after 24 hours of searching, I found a driver on the Gigabyte site you have to load on the USB for installation. UGH. Last, PTG is finicky, and the Bitspower tube was WAYYYY more forgiving than the EKWB stuff. Swipe for more pics... - @dcchavez on Instagram

Success! Hong Kong officials have seized a historic 26 tonnes of shark fins! An estimated 38,500 endangered sharks, valued at $1.1 million USD were recovered inside a pair of shipping containers from Ecuador, revealed on Wednesday. Unfortunately, 90% of the shark fins were from protected species including 31,000 thresher sharks and 7,500 silky sharks. Customs officers arrested the importer, however, the 57-year-old man has been granted bail pending further investigation. South China Morning Post reported, “two containers arrived from Ecuador within 10 days of each other in January, but the huge haul was only discovered when customs officers opened the containers at their Kwai Chung cargo examination compound on April 28 and May 4.” Aside from the two Ecuador consignments, customs officers this year had already seized 15 tonnes of shark fins worth HK$5.4 million and made two arrests.
