#Repost @arabimagefoundation with @get_repost ・・・ UPDATE FROM THE AIF: 4 AUGUST EXPLOSIONS IN BEIRUT We offer our thoughts and strength to the families and friends of the missing, wounded and those who passed following the devastating explosions at the Beirut port on August 4th, 2020. We have received many messages and inquiries about the Arab Image Foundation (AIF) and we thank all friends for their words of care and support and those helping on the ground. It gives us strength to know that the larger community is thinking of the foundation and everyone in Lebanon at this time. The AIF office in Beirut is in close proximity to the port and has sustained substantial damage. Three team and board members had physical injuries and are recovering. We are currently assessing the damage and are hopeful that the collections are not substantially affected, thanks to the Cold Storage Room where collections are stored and protected. The entire team and larger network are committed to rebuilding and continuing the work of the foundation and we will need your support to do so - also, in solidarity with all the other cultural institutions in Beirut who suffered damage from the explosion. I’ve been in a monochromatic mood lately if you couldn’t tell! This piece started out as a terracotta and rust fusion of textures. That quickly changed when I started playing around with that luscious cream and those beautiful velvets. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Chunky textures are always my favorite and this piece is packed with them; however, I think the star of this piece is the softer textures created with @scoutwoven velvet. Starting next week, ALL students (virtual or in-person) will follow this bell schedule. HVA students are expected to attend their classes virtually at the same time as they would if in the building, although recordings will be posted online for those who cannot attend. Live lessons will take place during the first 45 minutes of each block, and the second 45 minutes will be reserved for working on assignments (although check with hour teachers for specifics). Students at school will eat lunch in their 3rd block classrooms. Students will have assigned seats in each block to allow for contact tracing should a student or teacher contract COVID-19. Students and teachers are required to wear masks while at school, and desks will be sanitized between each class period. The building will open at 7:45, and NCTHS students will wait in the library until the 8:15 dismissal to first block. If you have questions, ask your teachers. Please make sure to bring your laptop with you to school. We wont lie its definitely not as easy as making cashew milk (especially if youre using our cashew milk powder 😉) BUT its definitely worth it!!⁠ ⁠ Heres how we did it:⁠ 1. Soak 3/4 cup black sesame seeds in warm water for about 30 mins.⁠ 2. Strain and rinse well and then add it to your blender along with 4 cups of water, 2 pinches of pink salt, a tsp or two of yacon syrup - depending on how sweet you like it and a splash of vanilla extract.⁠ 3. Blend on high for a minute or two and then strain into a large jug.
