World Tourism Day?! Who wants to think about tourism at a time when the global tourism industry is on its knees and most travelers are trapped at home for the forseeable future? Theres no better time to do so, actually. This pause is the perfect time to reflect on past travels... and how we can do better when travel IS possible again. In my 4+ years living out of backpacks, Ive made plenty of errors... and tried to learn from them. 💵 I used to go to great lengths to spend less than $20 per day on the road. Now I dont mind occasionally paying more; it can make a world of difference for someone else. One worth a few days of increased frugality on my part. 📸 I used to take photos of people without asking, seeking those Nat Geo shots of poverty and suffering. Now I ask for consent: taking/sharing photos of people otherwise is invasive at best, exploitative orientalism at worst. 🤳🏼 I used to share evvverything, thinking I was doing good by promoting tourism. Now, Im more selective about what I promote and how. Sharing our travels is a double-edged sword—we *could* be promoting tourism, but we could just as easily be contributing to destruction of communities and environments via mass tourism. 🇺🇸 I used to think I had few privileges as a broke female backpacker. Now I realize that even if I (still) dont have much money to my name, Im privileged to hold powerful passports, speak English, and have a strong social safety net. Its my responsibility to find ways to use that security to support others, not take advantage of locals hospitality or avoid accountability overseas. I still have plenty of things I can improve upon. We all do. Whats important is that we acknowledge those flaws and try to do better, rather than bend over backwards to deny them. This week is the first week in over seven years I can’t call myself a freelancer. As of yesterday, I’m now the digital editor at Zomato Sydney, I’ll have some more news on that but now I want to say goodbye to a chapter of my life and thank a bunch of people. Sometime in early 2015, I presented an idea to @georgia_booth. I said, what do you think about writing a column on restaurants in Sydney where we ask different community organisations for recommendations. Maybe, some of the community group members might want to come to the restaurants and eat with us? With Georgia’s help, that idea became @broadsheet_syd’s Local Knowledge column (Georgia came up with the name, all my ideas were shit house). For the last five years of my life, writing that column has been one of the highlights of my week. Most massively joyous things in my life: dancing every Monday night, Arsenal winning games, my housemates and working on Local Knowledge every week. Of course, it’s been enormously fuckyum but what will have a more lasting impression on me is how much I’ve learnt. Read this email I sent Georgia after the first episode on Chatkazz: “The restaurant in Harris Park was absolutely mental. I cant remember the last time I went to a restaurant in Sydney and felt so perplexed and out of my depth. It was unlike anything Ive ever had before and was so interesting in so many ways.” I didn’t know shit (some of those first articles were pretty cringey) and man am I bloody lucky to have the kindest, most compassionate educators. Most of the chefs and restauranteurs I talked to didn’t know what Broadsheet was, yet they took hours of their time to tell me their story, educate me about their cuisine, share a meal with me and let @leighgriffithslens take a whole bunch of pictures of them and their kitchen. I learnt so much, not just about cooking, ingredients, history and all that, but about the cultural fabric of Sydney, and how much fucking better and more delicious it is for having all these people in it. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s that we, I mean society generally here, don’t even come close to appreciating that fact. - @nickjordan88 on Instagram

Today Im gonna talk about a practice that is very common in our mosques which, I think should be stopped. In our mosques, people believe that kids are just are a cause of disturbance. Elders push kids to the back row and dont let them stand in the first row. And when we do this, children start to play in the back rows which causes noise disturbs the people praying. This is the nature that Allah created in children - they overflow with energy and enthusiasm and lack self-control. Sometimes, the children are also scolded for making noise and this decreases the interest of kids in mosque. They feel reluctant in going to mosque. Consider that you are a child, you are sitting in the first row of a mosque wishing to pray near Imam. But just before the prayer, an elder comes and tells you to go to the back rows. Will you not be angry? Will you not be discouraged and will your interest in namaz not decrease? This loss of interest in praying and going to mosque doesnt end here and becomes a habit which ultimately results in people not praying. Thr Ottomans used to say If you dont have children playing at the back of masjid while you are praying, then you dont have a bright future ahead of you Instead of scolding kids, we should follow Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).Knowing the nature of children, the Prophet taught us how to handle children. He corrected children (and adults) with mercy and compassion. The 2nd shot is the other angle of the same room - the breathtakingly stunning shrine of Imamzadeh Hilal Ibn Ali, 20 minutes outside Kashan. * Well most of my Iran memories were breathtaking, I could post for months... * Sadly Iran is on the news again, and suffering again - second wave of coronavirus in a country that has already suffered a lot this year. * Iran - one of the most beautiful and SAFEST places I have ever gone to. Короче, дело такое - я решил немного допилить формат постов и добавлять в них не только брейкдауны, но и видосики, в которых я рассказываю о том как проходили съемки. Полистайте пост - вроде клево получается. ⠀ Недавно мне написал @sergey_meza и предложил снять забавную идею про мудреца с бородой из сосисок. Это показалось мне настолько странной штукой... что я, естественно, сразу же согласился. Ведь мы договорились делать эту бороду в 3Д, а мне дико интересно сейчас в этом практиковаться, ну и заодно можно было решить коммерческую задачу. ⠀ Пробравшись на задворки старинного монастыря, как настоящие ниндзи, мы очень быстро отсняли основу для 3д интеграции и сбежали, пока нас не сцапала охрана. Но, как вы знаете, снимать быстро - это не всегда очень хорошо, так что при обработке вылезло несколько проблем, о которых я рассказываю в видео. ⠀ Круто, что сегодня любой фотограф, даже на начинающем уровне скиллов, может брать и решать вот такие такие небольшие коммерческие задачи с помощью 3д, и с каждым днем для этого появляется все больше доступных и понятных инструментов. ⠀ #photo #3d #bts #compose #борода #сосиски #меза #crazy - @nodia.stories on Instagram

Nasreddin Hoca Arkeoloji ve Etnografya Müzesi. Konya’nın Beyşehir ilçesinde yer alan Rüştü Bey Konağı adıyla da bilinen Nasreddin Hoca Arkeoloji ve Etnografya Müzesi, 1992 yılında müze olarak ziyaretçilerini ağırlıyor. Müze kart ile giriş yapabileceğiz Nasreddin Hoca Arkeoloji ve Etnografya Müzesinin inşaatına Ermeni ustalar başlayıp Türk ustalar bitirmiştir. İkiz ev plan tipinde inşa edilen konak, bodrum ve giriş kat üzerine iki katlı olarak inşa edilmiştir. Etnografik ve Arkeolojik Eser Deposu da bu katta bulunmaktadır. İkinci kat Arkeolojik eserlerin sergilendiği alandır. Kronolojik olarak dönemlere ayrılan odalarda eserler sergilenmektedir. Üçüncü kat ise Etnografik eserlerin sergilendiği bölümdür.
