grossly overfunding police equates to stealing money from schools. if you are my mayor or congressman reading this, defund the police. if you are someone else, perhaps less in charge of allocating tax dollars, im honestly not sure what we can do except sign petitions, google how much of our cities budget goes to police and how little to schools, consider how fucked up that is, keep an eye out for legislation and call your city/ state officials. anything else? shit. you tell me. like really, what else? tell me and i will do it. and WE should do it. keep pushing for this change though. keep doing good work. black lives matter. … and just one more thing to think about (not that you havent already, but..) it takes 672 hours of training to be a police officer. which if my math is right, is like a little less than 5 months of a regular work week with weekends free. why does it take 7 YEARS to learn our laws and be a lawyer but only 5 MONTHS to be able to enforce those same laws? and enforce them with deadly force..? im not really asking on this one, just commenting that its fucked up. okay. love you guys. stay safe. - @mikiepoland on Instagram

Hi all. About 7 months ago I went to work for an organization called Clean Prosperity. Our work is about finding ‘market-based solutions to the climate crisis that will grow our economy.’ For (the very few) people whose eyes don’t glaze over when I tell them this, I go on to talk about carbon pricing, and the importance of baking in the cost of pollution. Anything less creates an impossible burden for consumers. It’s the simplest, easiest, cheapest, fairest, quickest way to solve the climate crisis. But it’s much easier to tell this story with comics! On the other, many are struggling to keep up with online classes due to financial or technical crises. On one hand the new National Education Policy looks promising, on the other NEET JEE exams are in talks of being held in the midst of this pandemic. Which means lakhs of students will rush to fill their nearest exams centres, far far away, many unwillingly following the herd, risking their lives and their loved ones, only to add to the existing rat race of aspirants and job seekers in a broken economy. Lighthearted. Sort of. Because, we are now in a period of isolation following one of the kids developing a cough. It is highly probable that he just has a cold, but we can’t be sure and we must be careful. Like many others around the country we have been constantly refreshing our laptops and phones trying to get a bloody test. It is like trying to get Glastonbury tickets. But shitter. Today we made a 2.5 hr trip with a poorly child because there were no local options. We are some of the lucky ones, we can take time off work and we have a car. Many families will be forced to do the full isolation because they can’t get a test at all or they can’t get to a test centre. It is SO frustrating.
