Hoje no ponto de ônibus na Duque de Caxias encontrei essa senhora de 75 anos com o braço machucado. Ela contou que embarcou no ponto perto do Pão de Açúcar da Azarias Leite. Como.o motorista não esperou que ela passasse pela catraca e logo deu partida, ela se desequilibrou e se machucou. Essa senhora garantiu que não enxerga direito. No ponto seguinte, o motorista teria perguntado se ela estava bem e justificou que tinha pressa porque estão reclamando que o ônibus sempre se atrasa. Aqueles que apresentam resultado positivo para Covid-19 são encaminhados para acompanhamento na Unidade Básica de Saúde onde são cadastrados. Até o final do mês mais quatro dias de mutirão serão realizados na cidade, todos eles das 9h às 15h. Nos dias 20 e 21, a testagem será realizada no CEU Pimentas, localizado na estrada do Caminho Velho, 351. E nos dias 27 e 28 será no CEU Presidente Dutra, situado no final da rua Maria de Paula Motta. Para fazer o teste no mutirão não é necessário agendamento prévio, basta levar documento de identidade e cartão do SUS. A única restrição é não estar com síndrome gripal no dia do exame. No entanto, as pessoas que já tiveram contato com pacientes infectados pelo novo coronavírus também têm a opção de agendar o teste rápido nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde. O agendamento deve ser feito de forma presencial. Not one of my most prettiest photos, but I am sharing this side of me and my skin. I felt an uneven and nasty growth on my back. So 2 weeks ago I called on a wonderful dermatologist here Sian Hartshorn and she had to remove it straight away and test for skin cancer. Thankfully I am clear of cancer, but my mother was not so lucky. We lost her to melanoma when I was a teen. So I religiously check my skin to ensure I am not at risk. Last year we also lost a good friend to skin melanoma. Please, do regular checks. Just as you would for all other health issues. We all tend to focus on breast cancer, but skin cancer is far more dangerous and prevalent for men and for women. And our sunny weather and exposure places all of us at greater risk than other countries. I am grateful my stitches are out but you can be sure I remain vigilant. And please look after your kids. All my freckles came from years running around carefree as a child in sunny South Africa without any sunscreen. Maxillofavial Trauma Management - Airway ———————————————————————— After we handle the immediate life threats (massive hemorrhage), we have to consider the airway. Look, listen, and feel: take a look at the injuries and look inside the mouth for blood, vomit, broken teeth, dentures, chewing tobacco, etc. If any of these are present, grab your suction and clear it out. If dismounted or without mechanical suction, grab a 60cc syringe with a cathedral tip and a put an NPA on it to create a field expedient manual suction device. Give the lungs a listen and see if you’re getting adequate air movement. If the environment is keeping you from listening, place you’re hands on the chest and feel for bilaterally equal rise and fall of the chest. ———————————————————————— I would personally prefer to skip the intubation attempt and go for a surgical cricothyroidotomy. Orotracheal and nasotracheal intubation may be attempted but be aware that musculoskeletal tissue disruption will likely increase the difficulty of intubation. LMAs and I-Gels can be used to buy you some time to prep for a cric, but they don’t prevent regurgitation and aspiration of vomitus and may increase vomiting unless a paralytic has been administered (which is unlikely due to the fact that we likely haven’t gained vascular access at this point in our assessment). Compartment syndrome is a medical emergency and it needs to be recognized early. A similar situation may occur when an IO cannula is deployed in the wrong position or dislodged during the treatment. That is why you would want to make sure your IO device is in place. There are several ways to verify IO placement: 1. Check for aspiration of bone marrow 2. Flush and watch for swelling 3. Are the medications injected via the IO taking effect on the patient? 4. If available, bedside doppler may be effective in correct position confirmation. Early signs of compartment syndrome - Severe pain, swelling and redness of the affected limb Compartment syndrome is a rare complication associated with IO access. It may occur when the cannula is dislodged from the bone or over penetrated it. Therefore, correct location must be verified by aspiration of bone marrow, saline flush and observation of extravasation signs. In the image above is the result of a fasciotomy performed on a patient who had arrived to a field hospital with compartment syndrome, after being trapped under wreckage of an earthquake and rescued. ”I’ve been in two minds whether to post this but my husband convinced me as he said if I hadn’t been here he wouldn’t have realised. I am sure there are other parents who wouldn’t either and the only reason I knew is because it had happened to a friend’s son 2 years ago and she had shared. A week or so ago the littlest fell over at the zoo. He took quite a bashing but once we got home I cleaned him up. I rang school on Farm school day to make sure he washed his hands after digging and I tried hard to ensure it was kept clean (hand and elbow). He’s an 8 yr old boy, however. The wounds didn’t look infected- they’d got bigger so I was concerned but they weren’t gunky etc. Yesterday on our way to the beach he showed me his hand. I wasn’t happy as I noticed red tracking down his vein. I then checked his elbow - the same. I took him down to the out of hours feeling a bit silly but when the doctor saw it he commended me on recognising it and getting down ASAP. This is blood poisoning/ sepsis. It isn’t something you can “leave” until Monday when the doctors are back in the office. Thankfully the antibiotics are working and he is well in himself! If you spot this red line running from a wound get your child is seen straight away. Hopefully, my post might help someone the way my friend’s post from 2 years ago helped me 😍” This red line is called Lymphangitis. This means the infection is in the lymphatic system and it causes red lines from the wound that travel in the direction of the nearest lymph gland. If treated quickly, the condition can be mild but if left untreated, complications can occur, and the condition can become very serious. When the infection crosses over into the bloodstream, like it did for this boy, it’s known as sepsis. Well done to this quick-thinking Mama for noticing that something wasnt right and seeking urgent medical care for her little one. Replantation surgery of the left leg was performed under general anesthesia with ischemic time lasting 9 hours up to the arterial anastomosis. Don’t stick your hand in #hot_oil!! This is a burn injury caused by hot oil from a deep fryer accident. Deep frying oil can reach temperature of over 400 Fahrenheit. Cooking oil is flammable, and fires may be caused by it igniting at too high a temperature. Further, attempts to extinguish an oil fire with water cause an extremely dangerous condition, a boilover, as they cause the water to flash into steam due to the high heat of the oil, in turn sending the burning oil in all directions and thus aggravating the fire. This is the leading cause of house fires in some countries. Instead, oil fires must be extinguished with a non-water fire extinguisher or by smothering. Other means of extinguishing an oil fire include application of dry powder (e.g., baking soda, salt) or fire fighting foam. Spilled hot cooking oil can also cause severe third degree #burns. In the worst-case scenario, severe burns can be fatal. The higher temperatures and tendency of oil to stick to the skin make spilled hot cooking oil far more dangerous than spilled hot water. Children can accidentally place their hands on top of the stove, playing with the materials while being #cooked, or accidentally pull the pot down, which can cause significant injury. Nos envían esta fotógrafia. Esto es lo que genera la acumulación de residuos (principalmente de vidrios) en la ribera del río Renaico, en este caso frente al balneario de nuestra comuna. Hace menos de una semana junto a un grupo de vecinos/as estuvimos realizando una limpieza en el sector, pero hoy la situación es igual o peor. Debemos hacernos cargo de nuestro entorno. Sabemos que los esfuerzos por desarrollar educación ambiental en Renaico son mínimos -más allá del interés de ciertas organizaciones-, así mismo, comprendemos que el tamaño de los basureros en el sector en cuestión es reducido (seguramente, para que no se genere el habito de acopio de desechos en el lugar). Es por ello que hacemos un llamado a ser gestores/as de cambio, a socializar el cuidado del medio ambiente, y a LLEVARNOS LA BASURA -más aún si los basureros se encuentran copados- hasta dejarla en un lugar adecuado (y si fuese posible, apuntando a su reducción, reutilización o reciclaje). Además de enfrentarnos a políticas y proyectos extractivistas, debemos cambiar la forma en que nosotros/as -y nuestros/as pares- nos relacionamos con el medio natural. #SalvemoselríoRenaico #RíoRenaicoLibre - @riorenaico on Instagram
