____ #fotografia #pedrokuperman #ashaninka.apiwtxa #andrerever #150fsp #150fspjuntos - @150fotosparasp on Instagram

T A N O A I & S A M S O N R E E D F A T H E R & S O N “Don’t wait until your son is a man to make him great; make him great as a boy.” ________ I still remember the day Samson was born. I was in Hawaii and Tanoai was in California. He called me from the hospital and was emotional that Sue had just delivered a baby boy. Tanoai and I grew up more like brother and sister so it was natural that we raise our kids the same. I watched this kid grow up from that blond haired naughty 2 year old to this calm young man with the biggest heart just like his dad. Tanoai & Sue, you both did such a wonderful job on raising Samson. Everything the both of you do is for him including moving back to Hawaii from California so he could establish his own roots at Kahuku High School. You both love him but not spoil him. You give him everything he needs to succeed but at the same time make him do it on his own. Samson, I love you my Tamasese!! It has been one of my greatest joys to watch you become the man you are today. __________ A huge THANK YOU to the team for helping me put this all together. Happy California Native American Day! California has always been super diverse even before colonization hit, with well over a hundred different spoken languages. Lets please acknowledge California was the end destination through manifest destiny and was and STILL is sought after for all her resources. These lands have been through turmoil resourcing the whole country due to capitalism and greed. Lets also ackowledge that there are still many tribes in CA that arent federally recognized yet.. since Ca is the most populated state, please do your research and know whos land youre occupying & see what you can do to support them. Today we celebrate the vast beauty of California, the many different landscapes that have molded the indigenous people to who we are. A lot of people like to put us Cali Tribes in one big box, but truth be told were all different..we were gifted different ceremonies, songs, and languages to offer in bringing balance n renewal to the earth. #californianativeamericanday #calinative #diversity #indigenouslanguage #nativefoods #basketry #landback #nativeland #culturalpractices #songs #stewards #balance #renewel #relationship #indigenoussovereignty #hupa #karuk #nuumu #newe #westcoast #bestcoast 😉🤙 - @payahupaway on Instagram

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means its going to launch you into something great. - Paulo Coelho . Sometimes in life, things happen in order to help us grow. We are all on our own journey through life, and we all stumble. Youve stumbled, Ive stumbled. Its all about whether you choose to pick yourself back up or not. Ive experienced many lows in my life, but never have I given up. The day to give up isnt today, and its not tomorrow. The sunny day youre waiting for may be just around the corner. . Better yet, make your own sunny day. When things are looking rough, get a better perspective, and think about the good that could come out of your situation. Just as an example, say your favorite shirt is dirty. You really wanted to wear that shirt and had forgotten to put it in the wash. Take this as an opportunity to wear a new outfit! Happy National Daughter’s Day! Skilled in many demanding domestic tasks of their culture, Crow women passed their traditions down from one generation to the next, ensuring the future of their tribe and customs. In this family portrait the distinctive and expressive faces of the grandmother, mother and granddaughter are unique and yet universal. The middle generation carries the weight of responsibility with dignity, the elder, perhaps, now knows joy in understanding the circle of all life. And the adolescent is in that awkward stage we see in many of our own family portraits. Painted against an almost abstract background, there are no landscape or interior details because Terpning’s intent is to focus attention solely on the three women drawing the viewer into their world. Place yourself, paintbrush in hand, in front of a canvas. Who would be looking back at you from the canvas? What emotion would be conveyed? When does it occur? Where does your scene unfold? Why was it important to you to paint that image? @howardterpning #fineart #oilpainting #realism #abstract #threegenerations #nationaldaughtersday #familyportrait #tradition #culture #dignity #grandmother #mother #daughter #granddaughter #circleoflife #whowhatwhenwherewhy @cowboyartistsofamerica @westernartfans @bashasmarkets @ajsfinefoods @foodcityaz @visit_arizona @visitarizona @chandlerlifestyle #chandleraz #thingstodoinchandler - @bashacollection on Instagram

La brisa va, la brisa viene The breeze comes, the breeze goes. Its been a little over a year since Ive graduated from art school, and in the past year Ive found it almost impossible to make any work--not having much money and moving to a different city,  has disconnected me from all of the resources I had access too. Recently, I was able to purchase a desktop that is capable of handling this type of work, and since then Ive been delving deeper into this body of work. But Ive ran into some huge blocks. The money I am hoping to fundraise will go directly into dismantling these blocks. Read more in the link in my bio. It includes a detailed budget, as well as more information on the project. I cannot tell you how many times Ive applied to grants, and fellowships, to only be met with a rejection letter. I will still be simultaneously applying to grants of course. But now, Im looking to you for help. Please donate whatever you are comfortable with, and share if you arent able to do so right now. Share! Share! Share! The Sand family couldnt have scripted a more fortuitous turn of events. Many months ago when I first birthed the idea of taking the family band on an educational music tour of Europe I put out a vague call to my music program students, both in Philadelphia and online, to ask if anyone out there had any connections to anyone anywhere in Europe who may be able to plan any kind of concert or host us in any way. (Vague.) The very first response came from Sarah, whose family had enjoyed my online lessons while she was homeschooling in the US. She had since moved with her family to her Dutch husbands ancestral hometown of Orvelte, a museum village in the Netherlands, a tiny town tourists visit to step back into Dutch farm town life several centuries past. She invited us to stay with her on our travels. Score! But thats not the real twist. After making plans to visit this nether region of the Netherlands, Sarah learned that SIVO, an international dance and music festival that had been taking place elsewhere in the Netherlands for thirty years, would be planting itself in Orvelte this summer. Sarah told the organizers that a band performing world music for families was already planning to come, and together we agreed that the All Around This World band would headline their childrens activity area. Over the next few days Ill be posting photos from this inspirational international festival. Bravo to Sarah and to SIVO! . . . . . . . . . . #Netherlands, #SIVO, #SIVOfestival, #Orvelte, #educationalmusic, #globaled, #globaleducationnetwork, #worldschool, #worldschooling, #familieswhotravel, #familytravels, #homeschool, #homeschooling, #homeschoolblogger, #homeschooleducator, #homeschoolmusicprogram, #homeschoolingfamily, #unschooling, #preschoolideas, #kindergartenideas, #classroomideas, #parentingblogger, #momblogger, #dadblogger - @allaroundthisworld on Instagram

“And like so many of the world’s inhabitants, life here is fragile. Disruption of water quality can wipe out an entire lake’s crop. Earlier this week, I looked up from my canoe in the wild rice at the hazy red sky, praying for all the beings burning and fleeing out west. I thought of the piles of Line 3 pipeline stacked a few miles north of this lake, desperately clawing at a chance to expand the tar sands. I wondered where we will go, whether human beings will pull it together to put survival ahead of personal comfort. I listened to the softly rustling manoomin and lifted up my cedar knockers, as my ancestors have for millennia. There’s work to be done.” My latest in @voguemagazine on diversity of thought in the climate movement. Tres Colibrí is a cooperative owned by eight families who make mezcal with agaves endemic to the two regions they are located in, Chontal and Sola de Vega, Oax. The pandemic has been messing with them hard- while permanently moving out of her bodega in Oaxaca, the founder maestra @sosimaoliveraaguilar’s truck was stolen! I love this project, their sustainability practices and their brand of mezcal, @fanekantsini. I wrote more about them on @mezcalistas (link in bio), if you want to support you can buy some mezcal in advance to pick up later in Mexico (info in the article). . . . . . #mezcal #mezcallover #agave #agavelover #mezcalartesanal #oaxaca #oaxacamexico #cooperative #mezcalera - @ferronlandia on Instagram

At 18-years-old, @karenespinosavega is off to a strong start with her career in fashion. The Mexican model, who is from Oaxaca, got her big break when she recently appeared in the pages of Vogue Mexico’s July issue, becoming the first Oaxacan model to do so in the publication’s history. “It was a great surprise, from the moment I received the invitation,” Vega says. “The day I had the magazine in my hands and I could see my portrait in print, my family was incredibly happy. It was a dream that we thought was very far away or, perhaps, would never happen.” And like her milestone achievement, Vega’s work is just getting started. The Mexican beauty plans to continue using her platform to provide much-needed representation for her culture in the high fashion world. ⇢ Hi everyone ⇢ My name is Nathalie! I wanted to re-introduce myself to say hello🖐🏽 and tell you more about me. If you’re new, welcome and thank you for connecting. . ⋒ I’m the founder and creator of Ona Healing. Born and raised in Cali, Colombia. I arrived and began my journey in Australia 10+ years ago... this land has opened my heart on so many levels. It was here where I began my family. I am a Proud Mum of two, Ona and my youngest baby Mila. They have been my biggest teachers so far... . ⫷ A little bit about my journey ⫸ . Since I can remember I could sense and see energy, this used to scare the sh**t out of me growing up. Most of my childhood and early adolescence is fill with many “ghost” stories. This made me question and understand that there was much more than just this plane. . My own healing journey began when unfolding painful childhood experiences, molestation and drug abuse arose .. I had then to heal those wounds throughout my process. . I found my redemption and light through a beautiful place “ALBALA”, in Colombia. An alternative healing centre for drug abuse. This opened my eyes to the different healing and alternative modalities. . From there, I made my way to kundalini Yoga. This made me remember the truth of who I truly am. I also experienced, in depth, the shamanic realms and I extensively worked with various Plant Medicines. This made me discover the healing capacity of my own body, my reconciliation with my own spirit and great Mother Earth🌿 . I studied a Bachelors of Business and Tourism, but felt there was something missing. It was then when I fully jumped into and embraced my path. I then studied Kundalini Yoga , Holographic Kinetics (Aboriginal Healing Modality), Transpersonal Coaching, and Sound Healing. In addition, while working along many great friends, healers and shamans. . ➳ So what made me start Ona Healing? . ⋒ To enable individuals to find a deeper appreciation and reconnection to their inner power (Spirit). I truly believe that everyone has the birth right to find the answers from within and discover their true potential in this lifetime. . More in Comments ⬇️ - @ona_healing on Instagram

My name is Hailee Sháńdíín Brown and I am one of the 2020-2021 Anne Ray Interns. I am a member of the Navajo Nation and of the Towering House & Many Goats clans. My family is from Coppermine, Arizona but I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. This past Spring, I graduated from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Anthropology and Native American Studies and minoring in Environmental Studies. I hope to attend graduate school in the future and continue to learn about the intersections between Indigeneity, art, and the environment. I am thrilled to be an Anne Ray Intern, work at the IARC, and live in Santa Fe! I am especially excited to work with the IARC jewelry collection as I am a jewelry maker myself. I also have a passion for fashion, and am delighted to interact with the textiles and regalia collections at the IARC. Furthermore, during my time at SAR, I look forward to spending time with the various SAR artists in residence, Native researchers, and the many skilled professionals who work at SAR. I look forward to connecting with the SAR community virtually and you can expect more posts from me in the upcoming months on Wednesdays. Ahéhee’! When you think of Māori language revitalisation, the Korean Wave is not what first springs to mind 🤔 • • But #AUTuni’s Dr Rachael Ka’ai-Mahuta from Te Ipukarea Research Institute says there are lessons for te reo #Māori in the way #kpop and KDrama have captured peoples hearts 🖤 • • “I like to imagine a near future where we have equivalents of KPop group BTS or movies in te reo Māori that garner the widespread admiration of award-winning movies like Parasite. Pop culture impacts on the language choices teens make and the lack of te reo material aimed at teens/young adults is an issue.” • • Language and culture go hand in hand. They inform each other, and learning a language provides insights into culture that otherwise might pass us by ~ Read more about Making te reo Māori cool via link in story. - @autuni on Instagram

We recently passed 47,000 subscribers which is crazy! When I first started my YouTube Channel I remember telling people it was my dream to one day collab with Native Businesses I looked up to, one of them being Eighth Generation. A while ago a subscriber sent me a message asking where they could buy the blanket we were using on our show. It made me realize I wouldnt have been suggesting a Native Owned Business so it led me to reaching out to Eighth Generation. They were happy to work with me and send me a blanket with the goal of putting a spotlight on Inspiring Natives, with a goal of uplifting one another. I like what they represent and how they help other Native creators. They support the light hearted humor/good feeling my show represents. We have a new table cloth and are proudly supporting an Inspired Native Company. A milestone for my YouTube Channel. . . This week I am about to step into my path of becoming a medicine facilitator 🐸⁣ ⁣ I was shown in one of my medicine journeys that when I approach 30 years of age, that I would be given permission to begin to learn how to hold ceremony and facilitate medicine. ⁣ ⁣ It has been something I have been looking forward to over the the last 3 years and have devoted my life to deprogramming and unwinding my DNA and ancestral wounds so the energy that I foster is nothing but medicine. ⁣ ⁣ And the last few weeks leading up to this moment has been so Shadowy and so intense, witnessing my wounded inner child come out so that I may accept, allow and embrace them, so that I am foster that same type of experience for those who come to sit with me as I venture down this path. ⁣ ⁣ The Gene Keys says, as you reach into the Gift Frequencies, your suffering does not lessen nor does it go away. In fact, it only increases because Great Spirit is testing to see how much you can radically accept the entire spectrum of life, the good, the bad, the ugly, the beauty, all of it. ⁣ ⁣ And I have come to the deepest experience of surrender of my life yet. ⁣ ⁣ I am honored and so blessed to be on the Red Road Path and time be learning to serve Frog Medicine to my communities. ⁣ ⁣ I am humbled and honored. ⁣ ⁣ Thank you Pachamama, Father Cosmos, the Frog, all sentient beings, the plant consciousness, my ancestors and my guides for leading me here down this path of deep devotion. For that I am grateful. ⁣ ⁣ A’ho. For the past four months, I have been supporting @manariushigua, healer and leader from the Sapara Nation and founder of @naku.com.ec, a community based project, to bring their teachings and ceremonies online through weekly Zoom calls. Tomorrow, we are kicking off NAKUs first online group program, Dream World. Professionally - this is a milestone for me. For the last year and a half as I’ve learned more from indigenous peoples, I’ve been wondering how I can bring my work of the last 7 years in online marketing (courses, programs, newsletter, social media etc) to my indigenous friends as a way to share their message globally and expand business opportunities. The Dream World program is the manifestation of this dream for me. Dream World is a 4-week live group program beginning this coming Monday, August 3rd. We will meet on Zoom every Monday and Wednesday through the month of August at 9am PST 12pm EST. The essence of the program is to learn more about the dream world and how to begin interpreting our dreams to have a greater understand our lives and the world. If this topic interests you, I hope you join us! You can learn more & register at https://www.naku.com.ec/dream (link in @manariushigua profile) Xoxo, Jess - @sayyeswithjess on Instagram

Artist Feature: Cole Pauls is a Tahltan comic artist, illustrator, and printmaker hailing from Haines Juction with a BFA in Illustration from Emily Carr. Residing in Vancouver, Cole focuses on his two comic series, recently winning the Best Zine of the Year award in 2020. Cole has supported many of our College programs including the Indigenous Math Camp and Indigenous Upgrading Program as a workshop facilitator and guest speaker and has graciously shared his Orange Shirt Day illustration with us. The illustration was initially commissioned by BYTE and the Yukon Assembly of First Nations. “For my Orange Shirt Day illustration, I depicted a boy from the Wolf Clan and girl from the Crow Clan in full regalia, singing and drumming to pay respect to all the victims and survivors of Residential Schools. The glowing mask represents all the children that went through assimilation and the dancers represent the current generation of First Nations children who are rejuvenating our language and culture.” – Artist Cole Pauls @tundrawizard #orangeshirtday2020 - @langaragatheringspace on Instagram

In Brazil, there is a saying that says: `The last indigenous sigh will be the last for humanity The Kayapó indigenous community currently faces a deadly threat - its elderly, who have the wisdom of resilience, climate adaptation and culture in their communities, are losing their lives due to COVID-19. They need urgent international support for medical supplies. The spread of the human-ignited forest fires is now also greatly damaging the lives of the Kayapo! The magnitude of fires is vast and it is now damaging the respiratory systems of the community and devastating the ecosystem and wildlife. Climate change is not tomorrow. It is the reality of today! We ask that you stand by the Kayapó community and send a clear message of thanks for the service provided to humanity: link in bio to donate ‼️ Their contribution to the protection of the Amazon rainforest, at the service of the whole world, is crucial for humanity to survive the climate and ecological collapse that our Western way of life has brought to our planet. Its ancient culture includes carefully designed dance ceremonies with representative body painting patterns that encapsulate its cosmology. Its territory is part of the Ecotone Ecological Corridor in the South of the Amazon, which houses jaguars and ozelots! In addition to fighting a pandemic, which painfully resembles the way their people were killed by disease during colonization, they are fighting for their rights. Once again, indigenous people are having to mobilize to gather the support and resources they need to survive. The Brazilian governments inability to respect its ancestral cultures shows how the legacy of racism and colonization continues to harm the less represented people in South America and the world today. 450 years of struggle have shown how the resilience and determined spirit of indigenous peoples are fundamental to their ongoing struggle. We are in debt to their integrity, respect and love for their ecosystems and future generations. If we want to learn, it is our time to contribute and stand alongside them now! - @extinctionrebellion on Instagram

While I once believed nature itself was the biggest healer and source of comfort for me, I was wrong. It’s felt heavy, lonely, and cold without you all. It’s the playful (and respectful) interactions we have with nature that bring me energy and meaning. It wasn’t easy filming this production and this next episode into the Jungles of Borneo with a Dayak headhunter tribe is a testament of that. We took wooden long tail boats into the heart of this wild country in search of jungle Mahseer, one he most challenging fish to catch that we’ve ever encountered. . We had a small army of Dayak tribesman assisting us on this exploration and with there help there was nothing in our path that could stop us. Everyday we pushed deeper into what was assumed the impossible and unnavigable by boat. We yanked boats up waterfalls, up rapids and sliced through anything in our path. . We saw the battle remains of dead people. We were attacked by leeches everyday. We experienced horrific flooding and almost lost one of our base camps when the river flooded up 14ft and one night a jungle old growth fell and by some act of god managed to not smash us in the middle of the night. “The fires, pandemic, and accelerating climate change are a stark reminder that our world is out of balance. Now is the time to unite to protect the Amazon, our planet, and climate for future generations.” National Geographic Explorer and Waorani leader Nemonte Nenquimo (@nemonte.nenquimo) from Ecuador has been globally recognized in this year’s #TIME100, an annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Nemonte is a prominent Indigenous leader from the Ecuadorian Amazon, who is fighting to protect her ancestral territory, culture, and way of life. Since the onset of the pandemic, Nenquimo has organized independent medical brigades and other relief to Waorani communities infected by the novel coronavirus, as well as united with other Indigenous nations to demand a moratorium on all resource extraction in the Amazon during the COVID-19 pandemic. This moving performance by @coastalwolfs, in dialogue with Diamond Point’s banners that run along the Main Mall at UBC, was part of the physically distanced outdoor opening of the @belkinartgallery new exhibition “Soundings: An Exhibition in Five Parts”.  The exhibition features newly commissioned scores, performances, videos, sculptures and sound by Indigenous and other artists who respond to this question. Unfolding in a sequence of five parts, the scores take the form of beadwork, videos, objects, graphic notation, historical belongings and written instructions. During the exhibition, these scores are activated at specific moments by musicians, dancers, performers and members of the public, gradually filling the gallery and surrounding public spaces with sound and action. Curated by Candice Hopkins and Dylan Robinson, Soundings is cumulative, limning an ever-changing community of artworks, shared experience and engagement. Shifting and evolving, it gains new artists and players in each location. For this iteration on Musqueam territory, the Belkin has collaborated with UBC’s Musqueam Language Program in partnership with the Musqueam Indian Band Language and Culture Department;  School of Music; Chan Centre for Performing Arts; First Nations House of Learning and Museum of Anthropology to support the production of new artworks and performances by local artists. At the core of the exhibition is a grounding in concepts of Indigenous land and territory. To move beyond the mere acknowledgement of land and territory here means offering instructions for sensing and listening to Indigenous histories that trouble the colonial imaginary. Soundings activates and asserts Indigenous resurgence through the actions these artworks call forth and includes work by Raven Chacon and Cristóbal Martínez, Sebastian De Line, Camille Georgeson-Usher, Maggie Groat, Kite, Germaine Koh, Cheryl L’Hirondelle, Tanya Lukin Linklater, Peter Morin, Ogimaa Mikana, Diamond Point, Lisa C. Ravensbergen, Heidi Aklaseaq Senungetuk, Greg Staats, Olivia Whetung and Tania Willard. - @racheltophamphotography on Instagram

I was honored to contribute a piece about @nemonte.nenquimo for @TIME’s 100 Most Influential People. Last year, the Amazon was better known for acres ablaze than for acres saved. But the lawsuit that Nemonte Nenquimo, president of the Waorani of Pastaza and a co-founder of the Ceibo Alliance, brought forth was a rare bright spot. The landmark ruling protects the Waorani’s ancestral home in Ecuador from immediate destruction. The ripples have brought hope to Indigenous communities everywhere, all too often facing overwhelming odds of their own. Nemonte lives her fight, and to have a conversation with her is to witness a rare clarity of purpose. I remember she once told me that she wasn’t going to give up. That she was going to keep fighting. That she would continue to defend the forest that she loves from the industries and the oil companies that would devour it. She has kept her word, and continues to be a voice and advocate for her community. Nemonte’s cause is all our cause. She inspires those she speaks with to shoulder the nearest boulder and walk alongside her as her movement continues to grow. I am lucky to have met her, and I am luckier still to have learned from her. Read more about Nemonte, and see the full 2020 #TIME100 list, at the link in my bio. I know I’m not doing okay when I pick myself apart firstly, because that’s rare, and when I go for it, I will also rip myself to shreds because there’s nothing uglier than a bruised ego. Ego is a double edged sword. Yet there are no hard feelings between my ego and I. I appreciate her, actually. She does have a mind of her own, in a way; she has many personalities, some of you follow one of them (#iykyk)… She is my most ruthless rival, provocateur, saboteur and also, my biggest fan. “[...] ego knows only its own contents, not the unconscious and its contents.” — Carl Jung (The Undiscovered Self) I face my ego everyday - working at it, pulling myself up and apart from it, spending time in the unconscious realm with meditation and journaling... the process is like teaching her to dance, to hear the songs of my unconscious. Eckhart Tolle likes to say ‘we must dis-identify with the ego’ but I personally don’t think you have to. I think the first and most important step is to identify your ego and understand how to exist in its most transcended state you’re capable of embodying. We lost a legendary World Champion Hoop Dancer, Nakotah LaRance. I always see similarities among the other hoop dancers, with Nakotah we were about the same age and he also taught a lot of kids much like me. His creativity is what always blew my mind. 2nd slide: Nakotah always starts his routine out by doing a 1 hoop spin and Ive loved it so much Ive done the same ever since I first saw him dance. Showing that influence by him on me. 3rd slide: In 2015 I made a video showing wildly creative moves and you can see a lot of them were Nakotah inspired. Ive a huge love for creative moves and being inspired by other Hoop Dancers. His moves helped me grow a lot in thinking outside of the box. Ive learned and looked up to a lot of Hoop Dancers. Each effecting me in one way or another. Nakotah inspired and still inspires me creatively. I remember one year he didnt make it to the finals at the Hoop Comp and I went up to him saying Im sure he had new moves saved for it but never got to do them. He instantly was like You want to see them?! I can teach you them! But I was like No youve got to save these! Dont show them off! These will give you the edge next year but he was more than happy to share and out of respect I told him I wouldnt copy them but he was persistent saying learn from me and be more creative. Condolences and love to the LaRance family. 🙏🏽 - @patrickisanavajo on Instagram

APOCALYPSE SOCIAL MEDIA MIND CHATTER IN 2020 1. “I’m not posting sh#t, cuz I’m effin struggling rn and I don’t want to burden anybody with my problems.”😕 2. “I can’t post this happy pic with all the people suffering in the world rn. 😕 3. “I should post more often since social gatherings are done, and social media is the only way for communities to stay in tune.” 😕 4. “This crew shot is vybes but damn, we forgot to wear masks in the photo & everybody’s gonna hate.” 😕 .... With that said, me and @love_speak_productions are taking a break from being victims of the apocalypse to celebrate our 2yr anniversary right now. We are down to help our families, our people, and our planet at all times, but today we chill. One year ago today, I took a leap of faith.  ✨   I made a big change ~ one that aligned with my heart and spirit.    After nearly 3 years building my business under another name (The Wild Botanicals), I relaunched as Sḵwálwen Botanicals, honouring the Squamish language and my Indigenous culture.    To be honest, I was nervous. I wondered if the language would be a barrier for some. But I also felt this name would serve as a powerful guiding light for the business going forward.     From day one, the response has been incredible! And over the last year, we’ve experienced so much support from you all and more growth than I could have imagined. Today, we are CELEBRATING this special anniversary.    Sḵwálwen means essence of being or spiritual heart in Squamish. My heart goes into every step of the process creating Sḵwálwen products. From harvesting in my home territory to drying wild rose petals to pouring serums into bottles, my heart is present. 💛    We have refreshed our online shop with new imagery, an updated SHOP menu and more detailed product descriptions to enhance your shopping experience. :) I invite you to celebrate with us and check out the changes at link in bio!    Huy chexw a / thank you for supporting me on this path, especially in recent months as weve navigated the challenges of the pandemic. It means the world to me! And if you are new here, a warm WELCOME!    Sending you all love and wishes for wellness. ✨✨✨    Images by @liiphoto_ #skwalwenbotanicals #anniversary #celebrate #indigenousbusiness #wellness #plantmedicine #heart #spirit #cleanbeauty #skincare #instaskin #glow #beauty #skincareroutine #skincareproducts #selfcare #healthyskin #naturalskincare #crueltyfree #instabeauty - @skwalwenbotanicals on Instagram

INITIATE OF THE GODDESS ISIS ✨⁣ Have you been feeling The Goddesses working with you? .⁣ During a Shamanic Journey, Goddess Isis visited me by a sacred fire and gave me a feather from her wing - this wasnt the first time we crossed paths. Isis is the Divine Mother and the Goddess of Magic has been activating me for over a year now, helping me remember my power and the learnings from the ancient mystery schools.⁣ .⁣ Before a recent ceremony, I found a feather in the fire temple - thinking it was just a sign from the universe that I am on my path. I then realized after holding it next to my Isis drum - that this was in fact the exact feather she gave me in the shamanic journey by the sacred fire. (swipe to see)⁣ .⁣ Ive been getting what I call glitches in the matrix, where the things I see in the dream world - literally manifest like magic before my eyes now.⁣ .⁣ This life is simply a lucid dream/matrix simulation. When we learn to play the game we unlock our full potential. ⁣ .⁣ I have learned to play the game and I share my teachings with all of my mastermind course attendees (aka my mystery school initiates) so they can also transcend the matrix and master this game. ⁣ Thursday come join The Goddess Temple Virtual Circle and feel the activation within you.⁣ 8/24 6pmPST 9pmESt⁣ Link in Bio.⁣ .⁣ This ascension is already upon us. After college I got the hell out of Brooklyn as quickly as I possibly could and moved back to my hometown. Before I left I had a big garage sale and invited customers/friends to craft my old objects into better ones. Not many people took me up on the crafting besides Janelle of course. She sat on my stoop and hand sewed a Jonas Brothers patch into a tiny tiny purse with a long strap. I loved it so much that she let me keep it. Years latter the purse found its way into this elaborate FEMAIL hat. This hat is full of many other treasures. A bracelet I got as a kid on a trip to Disneyland, a bolo tie from Ella’s admissions day party, cellphone charms Janelle found in a dumpster. The sentimental value on this hat is high so it will probably never sell and i do not mind that one bit. We price all of our goods using the the FEMAIL PRICING FORMULA which helps us consider the emotional labor of making our work, amoung other practical factors like time spent. The formula causes prices to rise when something is made with sentimental materials and I feel great about that because that’s the stuff I generally want to hold on to. This Wednesday 4/29 to celebrate our @cityartssf webcast (which is also on Wednesday tune in please) we are having a Sentimental Sale on our webstore. We will only charge you for the sentimental value of each item. This hat will still be fairly pricey but other items will be extremely affordable some will even be free! Photos by Naila Sebbahi // “These stories are about unity and radical collaboration for climate action, underscoring the interconnectivity of social injustice against climate change. We indeed are only one.” – @theamazingsteff_ In February of this year, a group of 24 young ocean activists from 18 European, Latin American, and Caribbean nations set sail on a three-mast sailing schooner, the Regina Maris, to journey across the Atlantic Ocean from Cartagena, Colombia to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. This once-in-a-lifetime experience, called Sail for Climate Action (S4CA, now called @uniteforclimateaction), asked them to hit pause on their normal lives as they crossed the ocean and came together to build a movement for ambitious climate action. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, the S4CA participants were not deterred, but rather continued to fiercely advocate for the environment. Weʼve been inspired and enlightened by the stories and lessons that Clara, Steff, Daniela, Devon, Yaque, and Elenita shared. I have decided to call this series, “walking in two worlds.” These amazing people are first in their cultural regalia and then in street wear. I invite everyone and anyone to participate in their culture. If you are intimidated or unsure how to participate please reach out to someone and just ask. I am only 1/4 Native American and I didn’t grow up consistently participating so when I had a desire to start I was very intimidated. There was so many things I wanted to do but never did because I thought it wasn’t allowed for me. It wasn’t until college that I decided that it’s in my blood and I want to be proud of that. So I started asking for help and guidance on how to respectfully participate. The sense of community has gone a long way for me! So again, I invite you to participate in what ever culture you are apart of! Special thanks to @emmie.edmo for taking these photos at this shoot 🙌🏽 - @adam_conte01 on Instagram

I get asked about my eagle feathers all the time so here it is! 🦅 My fan was made by Leo Nicotine Jr, a family member of mine, and was gifted to me by my mom @chuckien. The eagle feather I wear on my head was gifted to me by my adopted brother @deevo222 when I entered the Womxns Category (pow-wow). Eagle feathers are hard to come by as we only get them when they fall off the eagle or when an eagle dies (of natural causes). Wishing Lestaris September baby @yanalestari the happiest birthday today!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you know Lestari, then you definitely know Yana. Yana has been front and centre of Sanggar Lestari since the day she was born. Her passion for the Indonesian culture is undeniable, and her knowledge goes far beyond the ability to speak Indonesian. She also has the super power to learn traditional Indonesian dances, and NEVER forget them!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Did you know that Yana is a Primary School teacher? This year, she has incredibly taught her foundation students via online learning since all schools were forced closed over the Coronavirus outbreak. 👽♥️⚡️ - @kalarraza on Instagram

I used to be self-conscious about wearing my hair in braids. It didn’t help that I would get comments about it. Some that are ignorant and some that exotify. There’s one particular instance that I remember from a few years ago. I was traveling for work and I was rushing from one gate to catch my connecting flight. As I was hurrying, I heard a voice say “how” - the white interpretation of a Lakota greeting, háu. One of the stereotypical greetings some people associate with all Native peoples in part because of years of racist and monolithic portrayals of Native & Indigenous peoples in movies, literature, images, etc. It was the kind of thing that happened so fast that it took time to process what happened. It also wasn’t something I had the energy or time to respond to, but it made me angry. Though it’s taken some time to get here, I love and appreciate my trenzas. I wear them in part as an act of cultural resistance that allows me to more fully love myself. . . . #optoutside #brownpeoplecamping #diversifyoutdoors #diversityinadventure #nativewomenswilderness #hammocklife #texas #kammok #trenzas #braidseason #austintexas #austintexasthings #igaustin #sheadventures #sheexplores #puregoldceo #promo - @thexicanaexplorer on Instagram

• . . . #decolonize #nativemodel #nativestyle #terraindigena #nativefashiondesigner #native #indigenous #indigenousart #indigenousresistance #originarios #representatividade - @indigenasnamodabr on Instagram

Part 1: ELLAS ALL AROUND THE PLANET - The “Cree” people. Cree = Crete. Their God is “Ntaou Ze” = “Dias Zeus”. They shout out Dedalo! during dance (Daedalus). Other Native Indian terms include Anasazi (Greek: Anasa Zoi = The breath of life) Navajo (Greek: Navagoi = Sea explorers) and Geronimo (Greek: Iero Onoma = Sacred “Iero” Name “Onoma”). The symbols of the Greek Key (Ellene Maiandros) and OMEGA symbols on their clothing, as well as the pan flute that they play, show the connection they have with the land of Greece, and that they are part of the 13 Ellene phylum (tribes). #greece #nativeamerican #nativeinstruments #cree #indians #ancientgreece #ellas #hellenism #artemissorras #ellinonsyneleysis #ellinon_syneleysis #anthropology #knowledgeispower #tribes #creepeople #pan #panflute #nativeamericans #nativeamerica #nativeamericanpride #hellas #ancienthistory #originoftheworld #indigenous #sovereignty #landrights #nativeindian #indiantribes #nativismo #daedalus - @themis.ioakimidis on Instagram

. . . @metzhugo #ifnotusthenwho #panama #embera #savetheforest #foret #environnement #preservation . Happy Kiowa New Year! Honestly, I never celebrated the 4th in the same way as other Americans. Growing up, today has always been part of a four day ceremonial based on prayer. Kiowa families have been doing this for hundreds of generations. The annual celebrations predate the United States, and I am so joyful for my heritage. This photo was taken of my love @cmcote and I celebrating July 4, 2019. Looking forward to safely gathering next year. #happykiowanewyear - @jordanpoormancocker on Instagram
