It’s such a hard day for me... 15 years ago, my nana brought home an 8 week old puppy. He was feisty and full of energy. He took to me right away. I loved this fat little puppy. He had such a round belly that he reminded me of the mouse Gus Gus from Cinderella. I named him. We had dogs before him but he bonded with me. He followed me everywhere, always sat next to me, let me carry him around like a baby. And I, as an 8 year old, poured so much love over him. He would sit at the door every day and watch the bus stop until I got off the bus. Hed sleep in my bed with me. He was my best friend. When we moved to NC, he would still sit and watch for me off the bus... and when I didn’t get off the bus he’d HOWL. Eventually he came to live with us here in NC. Gus is Zeus’s great grandfather. Anyone who knows Gus, whose ever met him, knows how sweet he is and how he’d literally just let you pet him all night, he would nudge you non stop to continue petting him. Three years ago, he was hit by a car and he started going down hill. I loved this dog so much. I’m completely heartbroken. He’s had a long and good life.
