Why ? { image of @sacredbirthdoula ~ connect with her } 1) Black babies are dying at twice the rate (in some place, nearly triple) the rate of white babies. This is a fact. The high infant mortality rate among black infants is mostly due to health conditions. These babies need the immunities and nutritional benefit of breast milk the most. So when I say breastfeeding is a life or death matter, this is what I mean. ​2) High rates of diet-related disease When you look at all the health conditions that breast milk—as the most complete first food, has been proven to reduce the risks of—African American children have them the most. From upper respiratory infections and Type II diabetes to asthma, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and childhood obesity—these issues are rampant in our communities. And breast milk is the best preventative medicine nature provides. 3) ​Lack of diversity in lactation field There is a blatant disparity in breastfeeding leadership. Its not debatable that breastfeeding advocacy is white female-led. This is a problem. It unfortunately perpetuates the common misconception that black women dont breastfeed. 4) Unique cultural barriers among black women While many of the booby traps™ to breastfeeding are universal, black women also have unique cultural barriers and a complex history connected to breastfeeding. From our role as wet nurses in slavery being forced to breastfeed and nurture our slave owners children often to the detriment of our children, to the lack of mainstream role models and multi-generational support, to our own stereotyping within our community—we have a different dialogue around breastfeeding and it needs special attention. 5)Desert-Like conditions in our communities Many African American communities are first food deserts—its a term I coined to describe the desert like conditions in many urban areas I visited where women cannot access support for the best first food—breast milk. Saya sangat terkejut ketika memahami bahwa diet, olahraga, tablet, dan sedot lemak – dalam 90% kasus berbahaya bagi kesehatan dan malah semakin memperburuk masalah obesitas. Mama juga menjalani berbagai macam diet dan melakukan olahraga di pusat kebugaran selama hampir 5 tahun. Selama tiga tahun terakhir, saya sepenuhnya menenggelamkan diri dalam tema ini. Metode terbaru penyembuhan obesitas itu sendiri, yang saat ini sedang ramai diperbincangkan, muncul selama proses penulisan skripsi saya. Saya paham bahwa saya tengah menciptakan sesuatu yang baru, tetapi saya sebelumnya tidak membayangkan jika hal ini mampu menimbulkan ketertarikan dari berbagai struktur. Kami Aliansi Jurnalis Independen (AJI) Surabaya dan Lembaga Bantuan Hukum (LBH) Lentera yang terafiliasi dengan LBH Pers, menerima aduan dari sejumlah pengurus Serikat Pekerja (SP) Jawa Pos pada 6 Agustus 2020 terkait dugaan pemberangusan serikat pekerja atau union busting di lingkungan kerja PT Jawa Pos Koran. Perwakilan SP, juga melampirkan data-data pendukung atas situasi yang mereka alami, baik sebagai pengurus dan anggota SP maupun individu. Setelah mempelajari laporan dan bukti-bukti pendukung, kami menilai, ada dugaan kuat bahwa manajemen PT Jawa Pos Koran memberangus SP. Modus pemberangusan itu melalui pemutusan hubungan kerja yang dibahasakan manajemen dengan sebutan ‘pensiun dini’. Perlu diingat, di dalam UU Ketenagakerjaan, tidak dikenal istilah ‘pensiun dini’ di dalam hubungan industrial. Kalaupun manajemen memakai istilah ‘pensiun dini’ itu artinya pemutusan hubungan kerja atau PHK. Dan, PHK harus disepakati kedua belah pihak, pekerja dan manajemen. Artinya, yang disebut manajemen PT Jawa Pos Koran sebagai ‘pensiun dini’ tersebut adalah tawaran kepada para pekerjanya dan sama sekali tidak boleh ada unsur paksaan. Namun nyatanya, sejumlah pekerja ‘dipaksa’ mengambil opsi pensiun dini. Jika menolak, para pekerja di-PHK. Menurut laporan, manajemen berdalih melakukan efisiensi karena dampak pandemi Covid-19 terhadap bisnis perusahaan. Salah satu cara yang digunakan adalah resizing, baik jumlah, komposisi pekerja maupun operasional. Alhasil, sejak Juli sampai saat ini, puluhan pekerja PT Jawa Pos Koran dari berbagai unit kerja, dipaksa pensiun dini. Yang menolak, di-PHK manajemen. Gelombang kebijakan ini menyapu hampir semua pengurus dan anggota SP. Namun, skema resizing itu bertolak belakang dengan lahirnya Jawa Pos Minggu per 23 Agustus yang jumlah halamannya lebih tebal. Jika dibandingkan halaman reguler, Jawa Pos Minggu setara 32 halaman. Sedangkan pada hari biasa, Jawa Pos hadir 24 halaman. Artinya, ada penambahan biaya cetak, padahal perusahaan sedang menggulirkan efisiensi. Praṇā (energi) hewan yang disembelih akan menjadi Āhāra (makanan) untuk Bhagavatī Parameśvarī Caṇḍikā (Durgā), darahnya akan dikonsumsi oleh para bhūta (pengawal-Nya), & dagingnya akan menjadi prasādam (makanan) bagi para pemuja-Nya.⁣ ⁣ Pada hari Penampahan, Sang Bhūta Galungan mencari makan. Maka sediakan suguhan kurban caru untuk para bhūta. Persembahan kepada bhūtakāla boleh sederhana, sedang atau besar. — Lontar Çundarigama (8c)⁣ ⁣ Dalam keadaan demikian, hendaknya manusia jangan pernah disemangati untuk merancang berbagai kesenangan indera atas nama ritual agama. Karena hari Penampahan Galungan bukanlah ritual pemuas perut melainkan rangkaian dari praktik sādhanā dalam Siddhānta-Tantra Bali. Interstellar staircase is a proposal by Y.S. Lam, forming a module of a tread extending as its own structure connecting the ceiling or floor. Arranged differently in linear or radial, multiple modules can compound into straight flights or spiral stairs. The geometry of the design consists of two identical halves; lower half mounding from the floor below supported by its compression, while upper half dipping from the floor above supported by its own tension. The physical structure is the directly reflection of what stairs are for: connection between two levels. Radial arrangement creates pockets of space as a destination, while doubles as a precious piece of artifact in the work environment. Rather than being a mere circulation device, the design set out to explore stairs in work environment that can be a destination, bringing people together where gathering and casual meet up happens. I couldn’t wait to try this out. I used 1/2 of an Aloe Vera Leaf and 1/2 cup of Avocado Oil. I infused the Aloe Vera in the Avocado oil on medium heat for 2 hours. I used cheesecloth to strain the oil.⠀ **Yaya also mentioned that avocado oil has a very high smoke point which is great because once you heat the oil it’s nutrients will not be lost. The Aloe Vera nutrients are being extracted as it is being infused in the heated oil. ⠀ **I’m using this oil for my hair. (I’ll apply it after applying my leave in). In the final semester, students can now go for long Internship programs, or engage in Entrepreneurship endeavours, or do research within the Institute itself. In October 2018 WIKUS celebrated its 60th company anniversary and launched a new building that regrouped production and administration. The architects Tollhopf from Melsungen, Bieling Architekten from Kassel and the planning office Congena from Munich planned, designed and implemented the building. The construction period was 12 months, with a total investment of 20 million euros. Happy Monday!  Today, I want to share one of my most cherished and challenging experiences as my former, @firstandbloom, which was also one of my last projects in 2018. 🍂 “Dahlia Quilt” is now featured in the latest publication by Debra Prinzing, called “Slow Flowers Journal, The Best of Slow Flowers from the pages of Florists’ Review.”  🍂  . . I am incredibly grateful for this honor and since we are quickly approaching the end of growing season, it’s a good time to remember such a special and personal collaboration for me. 🍂 . . The quilt’s presence is ever more important with the ground-shaking steps in equality right now.  Quilts are a beautiful symbol of American history and represent resilience, strength, and warmth on cold winter nights. It also displays hope, love, and comfort through difficult times. In the past, groups of women gathered to sew and stitch scraps of fabric from worn out clothing, patching together a new formed quilt.  Now, more than ever, women are forming similar groups with different mediums to spread love, hope and kindness to all. ❤ Follow the link in my profile above to read more on LORAs blog.  . . For additional design perspective, youll notice many imperfections in the design itself. Photo shoots and collaborations are often a molding of pieces which a photographer then magically transforms into a complete piece. I actually love all the unfinished workings of this piece. In honour of the Silver Opening of the depot, we collaborated with @susanbijl to create this very special Shopping Bag. Inspired by the new icon in our skyline, the shopping bag reflects light like a mirror. The depot, entirely shrouded in 1664 mirror panels, is designed by the architectural firm @mvrdv. In autumn 2021, the doors will open to the public. Hal itu dibuktikan dengan peluncuran kendaraan Tim Tindak Covid-19. Peluncuran dilaksanakan di halaman Mapolres Karanganyar, Selasa (22/9/2020). Tim Tindak Covid-19 terdiri dari anggota Polres Karanganyar, polsek di 17 kecamatan, Kodim 0727/Karanganyar, Satpol PP, BPBD Kabupaten Karanganyar, dan lain-lain. Seluruh kendaraan dan 125 personel mengikuti apel pukul 08.00 WIB. Bupati Karanganyar, Juliyatmono, sekaligus Ketua Gugus Tugas Percepatan Penanganan Covid-19, menyampaikan pembentukan tim dan peluncuran kendaraan Tim Tindak Covid-19 merupakan bentuk keseriusan gugus tugas. Tujuan utamanya adalah meningkatkan disiplin masyarakat menerapkan protokol kesehatan. Terutama mengenakan masker saat beraktivitas di luar rumah. Bertepatan dengan HUT ke-65 Lalu Lintas Bhayangkara. Semua kami siagakan untuk memberikan warning masyarakat agar disiplin mematuhi protokol kesehatan. Semua solid saling mengingatkan supaya jangan longgar tetapi perketat 3 m [memakai masker, mencuci tangan, menjaga jarak], kata Bupati saat ditemui wartawan seusai acara. Denda Bupati menegaskan bahwa Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) Karanganyar akan menerapkan sanksi denda Rp20.000 mulai Oktober 2020. Sanksi itu diberikan bagi masyarakat yang tidak mengenakan masker saat beraktivitas di luar rumah. Bupati mengklaim langkah itu diambil sebagai salah satu upaya menekan penularan Covid-19. [Kasus Covid-19] di Kabupaten Karanganyar ini perlahan-lahan menurun. Tetapi, jangan lengah. Justru mari memperketat protokol kesehatan agar lekas sembuh, sehat, dan bangkit. Ayah dan ibunya berasal Kawangkoan; sebuah kota kecil yang terletak ± 45 km dari Kota Manado, Sulawesi Utara, dan di sana ia dilahirkan pada 7 November 1907. Semenjak dikumandangkannya #proklamasi kemerdekaan Indonesia, ia dengan penuh semangat telah bertekad untuk ikut berjuang menegakkan dan mempertahankan kemerdekaan Indonesia dengan bersenjatakan kamera foto. Bersama adiknya #FransMendur, ia telah berjasa dalam mengabadikan peristiwa detik-detik #ProklamasiKemerdekaanIndonesia pada #17Agustus1945. Ia pun mendirikan kantor berita foto bernama #IndonesiaPressPhotoService ( #IPPHOS ). Alex Mendur wafat pada pukul 4.30 pagi, hari Minggu, tanggal 30 Desember 1984 di RS. Advent Bandung. Jenasahnya lalu dikebumikan di #TPUPandu Bandung pada jam 13.00 siang pada tanggal 31 Desember 1984 dalam usia 77 tahun, dengan upacara sederhana dan penuh kehikmatan. Atas jasa-jasa dan pengabdiannya yang luar biasa, Alex Mendur mendapat anugerah dari pemerintah RI berupa #BintangMahaputera Nararya (2010) dan #BintangJasaUtama (2009). Warung Jatinangor Berdiri sejak belasan tahun lalu, Warung Jatinangor (Warjat) adalah tempat makan favorit anak kos Jatinangor. Meski warung nasi yang berada di gang mawar ini cukup tersembunyi, namun anak kos pemburu makanan murah dan enak di Jatinangor pasti tahu dengan Warjat. Di Warjat, para pengunjung dipersilakan untuk mengambil makanannya sendiri. Lauk dan sayur yang disediakan pun cukup beragam. Soal harga jangan khawatir, Warjat sudah terkenal murah sejak dulu. 2. Hipotesa, Munjul, Cafetaria Ketiga tempat makan ini merupakan warung nasi sekaligus warung kopi. Ketiganya, sudah melegenda bagi orang-orang yang masih atau pernah tinggal di Jatinangor.Menu makanan yang dijual pun hampir sama, namun ada beberapa menu yang paling banyak dipesan, seperti nasi daryam (telur dadar bersama ayam suwir), mie tektek, telur diamond (telur dadar ditambah tahu), 3. Bubur Parantina Banyak yang menyebut bubur Parantina atau yang lebih dikenal dengan bubur Akiko adalah bubur paling enak di Jatinangor. Teksturnya yang cenderung cair dengan rasa gurih dan asin membuat banyak anak kos ketagihan. Salah satu yang paling unik dari bubur yang berlokasi di samping kantor kecamatan Jatinangor ini adalah penggunaan cabai kering sebagai sambalnya. 4. Ayam Suroboyo Ada banyak penjual ayam goreng atau pecel lele di Jatinangor, tapi bisa dibilang, Ayam Suroboyo adalah yang terbaik. Sama seperti yang lain, di sini pun menyediakan ayam, bebek, lele, dan beberapa menu lainnya.Akan tetapi, perbedaan Suroboyo dengan penjual pecel lele lainnya terletak pada rasa. Seluruh hidangan yang Suroboyo sajikan terasa sangat lezat. 5. The debate never went away. Some things take time.... . . Reaching Out is my first individual full figure representation of a woman, and one of very few public sculptures of a Black woman in the UK (one of the first being a short distance from where I grew up). This new work, depicting a young woman standing holding a mobile phone in both hands, continues a theme of balancing experiences of isolation and connectedness, whilst acknowledging the different ways in which technology mediates our lives. . Reaching Out celebrates London’s diversity and explores multiple themes of contemporary relevance; from the debate about representation, to social isolation and the complex relationship we have with technology. Reaching Out is a work about the contradictory connectedness and isolation of modern life and a bold statement in public art which both invites and opens-up discussion on issues of pressing social relevance. . Price has consistently explored representations of Black characters in his work and in Reaching Out he plays with both the values society ascribes Black womanhood and preconceptions of what public sculpture should represent. At 9ft tall, the scale is deliberately larger than life and whilst the pose carries an echo of the neo-classical, Reaching Out is deliberately un-triumphant, instead countering the expectations of monumental sculpture associated with historical depictions of white men. Saat ini Kamis (26/3), jumlah pasien positif corona bertambah menjadi 103 orang, sehingga total kini ada 893 orang yg terjangkit. Jumlah pasien yg meninggal ada 78 orang sedangkan pasien yg sembuh menjadi 35 orang. Dengan semakin meningkatnya kasus corona, banyak oknum-oknum yg tidak bertanggung jawab memanfaatkan kesempatan ini dgn cara menimbun masker dan hand sanitizer lalu di jual lagi dengan harga yg tinggi. Misalnya harga satu box masker yang berisi 50 dijual dgn harga Rp300.000. Padahal, harga normalnya hanya Rp20.000 per box. Bagi kita yang mampu mungkin hal ini bukan lah suatu masalah, namun di sisi lain masih banyak masyarakat kecil yg ekonominya pas-pasan kesulitan mendapatkan masker maupun hand sanitizer. Untuk itu, pemerintah membuat peraturan bagi oknum yang tertangkap tangan menjual masker atau hand sanitizer dengan harga yang tinggi, maka oknum tersebut akan menadapatkan hukuman berupa 5 tahun penjara. Kekerapan penyiraman pokok hiasan dalaman (indoor plants) bergantung kepada beberapa faktor seperti saiz dan jenis pokok, saiz dan jenis pasu, kelembapan udara serta kadar pertumbuhan pokok tersebut. Contoh, ada pokok yang lebih suka keadaan yang senantiasa sedikit lembap seperti pokok Begonia (tapi hati-hati, jangan biarkan dia dalam keadaan overwater pulak), berbanding pokok seperti Sansevieria yang sukakan tanah yang lebih kering. Saiz dan jenis pasu juga perlu diambil kira, contohnya pasu terracotta cepat menyerap air dalam tanah, maka anda perlulah menyiram pokok anda lebih kerap jika dibandingkan andai anda menggunakan pasu seramik. Pasu plastik pula kebiasaannya mengekalkan kadar kelembapan air di dalam tanah lebih lama berbanding pasu-pasu jenis lain. Lokasi di mana anda meletakkan pokok hiasan anda juga memainkan faktor penting dalam menentukan kadar penyiraman yang diperlukan. Sebagai contoh, pokok hiasan yang diletakkan di tepi tingkap tentulah perlu disiram lebih kerap berbanding pokok yang diletakkan lebih jauh dari tingkap. Sebagai panduan asas, apabila medium tanah pokok anda kering dalam 2 inci dari atas, anda bolehlah menyiram pokok tersebut. Cara asas untuk memeriksa medium tanah kering atau tidak, anda hanyalah perlu mencucuk jari anda kedalam tanah dalam kadar 2 inci. Selain itu, anda juga boleh menggunakan lidi sate atau chopstick dan jika tiada tanah melekat selepas anda mencucuk tanah pokok anda, bermakna ianya kering. Putri Presiden pertama Indonesia, Sukmawati Soekarnoputri, mengatakan bahwa Partai Komunis Indonesia (PKI) tak menolak ideologi Pancasila. Sukmawati juga menyebut PKI menganut ideologi Pancasila. Ia mengutarakan itu dalam acara Indonesia Lawyers Club bertajuk Ideologi PKI Masih Hidup, Selasa (29/9/2020). Setahu saya, menurut senior-senior dari tokoh PNI, waktu itu yang memberikan info ataupun ilmu kepada saya. Mereka mengatakan PKI itu tidak menolak Pancasila, kata Sukmawati. Jadi PKI ideologi apa sih? Sebetulnya ideologinya Pancasila. Itu dari tokoh senior yang sudah tiada. Jadi kenapa jadi masalah? PKI itu ideologinya Pancasila, lanjut dia. Menurut Sukmawati PKI di Indonesia berbeda dengan partai komunis lain di negara Uni Soviet dan China pada masa itu. Ideologi yang diterapkan Uni Soviet dan China, disebut Sukmawati memang bersumber dari komunisme. Tepatnya komunisme dengan sistem partai tunggal. Sementara, ideologi PKI adalah Pancasila. Dengan kata lain, ideologi itu masih hidup sampai sekarang. Sebaliknya, Sukmawati menuturkan jika PKI berideologi komunis, maka secara institusi kepartaian paham komunisme sudah tidak ada lagi. Kalau komunis secara institusi kepartaian sudah bubar, ya sudah enggak, secara institusi kepartaian, ucapnya. Sukmawati bilang, meski secara institusi kepartaian sudah bubar, bisa saja masih ada gerakan bawah tanah atau underground dari kader-kader PKI. Namun ia tak bisa memastikan apakah kader komunis bawah tanah hari ini juga memeluk Pancasila seperti pendahulunya, atau tidak. Jadi kalau ideologi underground bisa saja masih hidup. Masalah Warna Foto Jurnalistik Era 90-an #bahasagambar Seorang mahasiswa dalam sebuah seminar jurnalistik pernah bertanya begini,” Foto jurnalistik yang benar itu hitam putih atau berwarna ?” Pertanyaan ini tampaknya aneh, tapi sungguh wajar karena foto jurnalistik dahulu hampir selalu tampil hitam putih, dan kini kadang-kadang masih ada yang hitam putih. Sebenarnya, sampai akhir tahun 1990-an foto jurnalistik tampil hitam putih semata karena alasan kemudahan. Di era itu, mengirimkan dan mencetak foto berwarna masih mahal dan menyita waktu. Sedangkan saat ini, foto berwarna mudah dikirimkan lewat jalur internet, dan pencetakannya relatif tidak berbeda dengan mencetak foto hitam putih. Kalau boleh disimpulkan, sesungguhnya foto jurnalistik adalah foto berwarna karena realitas itu berwarna. Foto hitam putih tentu berbeda dengan realitas, sementara jurnalistik harus sedekat mungkin dengan realitas itu. Di halaman ini tercetak halaman pertama Harian Kompas edisi Minggu 24 November 1991. Foto yang ada memang berwarna tetapi warnanya buruk dan cenderung pucat bukan ? Di era 1990-an, Harian Kompas maupun sebagian besar koran lain masih mengutamakan foto hitam putih dengan alasan kemudahan proses seperti disebut di atas. Harian Kompas akan mencetak berwarna terutama untuk halaman pertama hanya pada hari Minggu atau pada hal-hal yang diistimewakan seperti Piala Dunia, pembukaan PON dan beberapa peristiwa penting lain. Karena 24 November itu hari Minggu, maka pada tanggal 23 November saya mengirim foto ke Jakarta tentu berwarna. Waktu itu belum ada internet, dan pengiriman foto dilakukan memakai alat yang bernama AP Leafax atau istilahnya telefoto. Sebuah alat telefoto seperti terlihat fotonya di halaman ini, akan mengirimkan foto hitam putih (seukuran setara 0,5 Megapiksel saat ini) dalam waktu 8 menit. Sedangkan sebuah foto warna akan dipecah menjadi empat lapis, masing-masing lapis CYAN, MAGENTA, YELLOW dan BLACK. Keempatnya biasa disingkat CMYK.
