Cancer sucks. Every single form of it. It destroys our loved ones. But one cancer that my family has become to hate the most is Uterine Cancer. My mom is heading into her 4th or 5th (there have been so many I can’t keep up!) round of Chemo. Her team of doctors keep switching up the type of chemo because unfortunately there is NO CURE for her type of cancer. This fucking sucks. My mom is a fighter and she has beat cancer before and will fight this no matter what it takes. But! Wouldn’t it be nice if we could raise funds to help doctors find a cure? 📸 @joerehab 》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》》 There are a total of 28 bones in the foot (including 2 sesamoid), you multiply that by 2 and you have a total of 56 bones. Knowing that we have 206 bones in the body we can say that majority of the bones in the body lies in the feet (206/56=27.2 percent) . We also have 33 joints and more than a hundred muscles, tendons and ligaments in the foot. Our feet are meant to be supple and mobile, adapting to the different environment (flat land, uphill, uneven terrain etc...) through standing, walking and running. The space between the bones of our foot are very important, without sufficient space our foot will loose its suppleness. A compressed foot is not a happy foot. If 27.2% of our bones are not moving while we walk, squat, lunge etc.. in a full body loaded position, something else needs to move upstream and only time will tell when our knees, hips, low back, midback and neck all of a sudden begin to ache and hurt. . When we look at the foot of a baby or young child, the toes are nicely splayed out. This foot is optimal for balance and walking. In certain parts of the world where people either still go barefoot majority of the time, or barefoot a 100% there foot widen out like a fan from heel to toes. So what happened? . With modern society and fashion(beauty over function), many shoes created are not designed for optimal function. Usually having a heel lift and cramming up the toes in the front. Overtime we become weak footed, loose our suppleness and the shape of our foot changes. . Solution? Pick a shoe that doesn’t have a heel and that is wider in the front. Take your shoes off and let your feet breathe and go barefoot more often. Challenge your feet by walking on uneven surfaces and different terrains. Mobilize the foot with a lacrosse ball and strengthen them up!!! . I always fact check myself before forming an opinion. I always base my decisions from logic, not emotion. I always form my opinions based off of the source material given, first hand experience, and outside research. Then I make an analysis of the three (weighing the importance accordingly) Groupthink can be a huge issue, and thinking your emotional ties to an argument can be an issue as well. A lot of people look for a confirmation bias, and not to have dialogue about what’s going on. This happens way to often, and often ends in no discussion for either argument. Think not only from what you see on social media, but what makes sense logically. Use the information and data that has been proven to be true time and time again, and take into consideration the reality of the topic you are deciding on. Whats crazy is, the pain that comes with birth is actually selected FOR in humans because the pain is directly associated with the size of the head of the offspring. And so since women tend to select for smarter men, and smarter men produce children with bigger heads earlier in life... It doesnt seem like this problem is going away anytime soon. Luckily we have anesthetics BUT we also have EVOLUTION... Or in this case ADAPTATION. Some moms out there are lucky enough to inherit this mutation which makes the birthing process virtually painless WHATS EVEN MORE INTERESTING, is that compared to other variants in pain associated genes (I have a whole post or video I want to make about that) this mutation doesnt seem to come with any negative side effect. Most pain-resistant genes lead to early death because pain is actually required to alert the body about issues. Some mutants can go days without realizing they have an open wound or burn and by then it could be infected. THIS MUTATION only really seems to affect labor pain. Thats pretty cool! Give enough time, it could be part of the greater gene pool. SHATTERED DREAMS: Kishori Raut Kurmi, 65, of Bishrampur, Parsa has a family of seven. He lives in a small house with a thatched hay roof. Four years ago his son Mukesh, 39, left to go to Saudi Arabia, where he would get a job and support his family. He borrowed Rs 1,50,000 from someone from the village and was slowly paying his way. “He had planned to pay everything off this year,” says Kishori. When the pandemic started, the Kurmi family was making do with what they had. Three months ago, Kishor was sitting outside in his yard getting vegetables ready for dinner when the phone rang. “They told me my son, Mukesh, had died in Saudi Arabia,” he says. The family learned that Mukesh died in a road accident while trying to send money home. A few days later his son’s body arrived home in a coffin. “I am devastated,” says Kishori, “We sent our son abroad and we were weaving many dreams, but the dreams are shattered. According to the statistics from the Foreign Employment Promotion Board, an average of two Nepali migrant workers die abroad every day. Mukesh’s company has not sent the money his son earned, and Kishori has not heard anything from the Nepali government on compensation or relief. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he has not been able to mourn his son’s death properly. For now all Kishori can think of is how to survive another day, “We are poor people. MY CHILD MY RULES! Bali nga sampung hanger sakin dati sa nanay ko eh, lumaki akong matapang at responsable hindi takot mabuhay mag isa at sobrang madiskarte. Fun fact: I used to want to be a travel/food photographer. I followed so many photographers online before there was Instagram. I wanted to travel every inch of the globe and just document everyday life. Living out of a suitcase was my dream! During college I got to travel quite a bit and while I did take a lot of pictures I didn’t really have a place to share them (other than my website that doesn’t exist anymore). This first batch of pictures is from my summer in American Samoa in 2013. Samoa is such a colorful island, I’m not sure why I took so many black and white photos 🤦🏻♂️. There was such a juxtaposition of island culture and American culture that made it all so interesting. If you don’t know, Samoa is a teeny tiny island about a 4 hr plane ride southwest of Hawaii. Resources were very limited. They had one major highway that circumnavigated the island. But because of that the beauty of the island was preserved. There is one photo of Hawaii in this bunch. 🌹 Read about the violence that Black, Brown & Indigenous women/femmes and non binary folks experienced at the hands of the Chicago Police Department this past Saturday at the Chicago Mexican Consulate while we tried to do an art intervention raising awareness about Femicide and the murder/rape of women and girls in Mexico and Chicago. I wanted Noah to attend the vigil tonight in PDX for George Floyd to show solidarity with Minneapolis, but he didn’t want to go. When I picked him up afterwards, I brought him this sign from the vigil and he expressed to me that he didn’t want to go because he was scared and worried that the police would show up and things would get dangerous for the people. But he understands the message of the sign and supports the movement and wants people to know what he stands for. Noah’s a half Black, half East Indian 10yr old with albinism and everytime another Black life is murdered at the hands of the police, I think of him first. I think about how he was born with a rare disease that affects 1 and 20k people in the US, one that allows him the ability to appear white...which, in-turn, could essentially save his life one day. I think about the fact that so many others do not have this ability and are instead targets simply for the color of their skin. Targets to racist and hateful ass people that value power over other human lives like the cops that murdered George Floyd. Racism is power, white supremacy is terrorism...this country was built on it and you should be sick of it. I’m so sad and angry lately, but I’m taking comfort in Noah and his honesty and strength and love that he shows me everyday. Yesterday, an anti-shackling bill I authored, along with Rep. Lisa Subeck, passed unanimously in the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety. Senate Bill 393 would restrict shackling of incarcerated women during childbirth and labor, ensuring access to maternal supplies and postpartum healthcare. We introduced this legislation after learning that multiple incarcerated women in Milwaukee had given birth while shackled inhumanely. Federal agencies and 18 other states already have policies that prohibit this practice. This bill will also allow maternal and emotional support services. - @lena.taylor on Instagram

None of the children in Georgia were abducted by strangers. The most typical way traffickers and abductors approach children is as someone they know. This can be anyone from their own parents to people who gain their trust in online forums, often by posing as children themselves. . Today, we would like honor the hard work of the Texas Department of Public Safety, specifically their Interdiction for the Protection of Children program. If any of you remember the huge Georgia trafficking ring bust a little while ago, those officers were trained by IPCs guidelines! They recently just celebrated their 500th rescue in Texas, and while they arent at liberty to discuss details as many of the cases are ongoing, they are fiercely involved in the battle against sex trafficking and provide training all around the country. As in the quote above, they want to emphasize that most victims are trafficked by people that they know, not strangers off the street. .
