But as was often the case with female botanical illustrators of the era, particularly self-taught ones like Anne, her work was criticized for apparently not being scientific enough. КАЛАДИУМЫ ▫️Каладиумы это клубневое, декоративно-лиственное, многолетнее и теплолюбивое растение. Каладиум, как и многие растения , обитают в южной Америке. И этот год стал для них пиком популярности. Очень часто их называют уши слона из-за крупных листьев, а с индейского каладиум переводиться как растение с съедобными корнями. ▫️Цветение у них, многие могут назвать как невзрачное , но мне сложно с этим согласиться, так как цветонос может иметь нежно розовый оттенок и это чудо. После того как каладиум отцветает у него засыхает початок из которого появляется семена. Предположительно они зацветают на 2-3 год жизни, но тут всё от размера клубня зависит, у меня они цветут постоянно при хорошем освещении, влажности и теплых условиях. ▫️Что касается размножения, тут есть два варианта: клубнями или семенами. Если рассматривать клубневое размножение то можно делить отростки которые появляются на клубне или делить клубни как картофель, но это более долгий и кропотливый процесс размножения. ▫️При выращивании каладиума желательно соблюдать несколько важных условий: - Проветривать помещение. - Притенять от полуденного солнца, так как каладиум любит яркий рассеянный свет, может прекрасно расти под искусственным освещением. Как вы понимаете чем больше света, тем ярче листья. - Температура содержания не ниже 20, а лучше 24-28 градусов. - Высокая влажность воздуха и частый полив. - Очень важно не залить клубень, что бы он не сгнил. - С весны по осень возможно потребуется 1-2 пересадки -растение требовательное в уходе но очень благодарное, лучше растет в тепличных условиях. Особенности каладиума: - к сожалению, на осень каладиум скидывает листья и клубни засыпают до весны, но если у вас подходящие условия то они могут и не уснуть. Те кто не знаком с каладиумами, а берут их просто как декоративно-лиственные растения, не редко выбрасывают, когда видят отмирающие листья, думая что погубили растение. Но мы то уже знаем что они засыпают, чтобы весной возродиться вновь как феникс. - клубни можно доставать из грунта и убирать в сухое, теплое место, не ниже 18C, как нарцисы, геоцинт итд. , а можно оставить в горшке без полива до весны. 🔻Продолжение в каруселе из фото🔻 - @a.n.t.a.s on Instagram

Root system. I LOVE how there are reminders on my journey everywhere. We got this plant this weekend at a flea market type place (for $15👀) & I had to repot her because our aloe needed a much needed repot + moisture. As I was doing so, I noticed the roots of these plant. How extensive they were & how they divinely grew to go where the water was. The aloe had roots that were thick + hard like bark and I have NEVER experienced that before. I was thoroughly amazed. Either way, I remembered how happy I am when I am playing in dirt so I am manifesting the next place we live to have garden capabilities in our backyard. Also, please don’t mind my dusty ass protective style. Y’all know Spathiphyllum ‘Picasso’ is one of my favorites, with those glossy, deep green leaves with large blocks of creamy white & grey green, it also throws out entirely white shoots which even though they don’t last as long as the mixed leaves, add a lot of impact. People often ask me “how do you stop the white areas from browning?”. Well I don’t, I regularly trim off the brown areas trying to keep as much of a leaf shape as possible. ficus lyrata, AKA fiddle leaf fig, AKA “fiddley fig” (shout out to one of my bff who can’t pronounce 😉) . This is known to be QUITE finicky. Doesn’t like her leaves bumped up on, LOVES humidity and doesn’t mind being a bit root bound (a BIT!). Clean those massive leaves a couple times a month with some distilled water and a micro fiber cloth and rotate her to give her leaves equal access to the sun! Bueno la NASA me ayudó un poco...y llegaron a la conclusión que: Las plantas durante el día hacen el proceso de fotosíntesis asimilando el CO2 y liberando oxígeno, mientras que en la noche (como no hay sol) absorben el oxígeno y liberan CO2, PERO, este oxígeno que toman y ese dióxido de carbono que liberan es mínimo en comparación a lo anterior. Rabbits foot fern (Humata tyermannii) - this has been on my wish list for sooo long now! This species of fern develops characteristic creeping rhizomes that have the appearance of a furry rabbits foot (although personally I think theyre more like tarantula legs!). They require bright indirect sunlight and need to be kept moist at all times but not waterlogged. They love high humidity so mine is kept in the bathroom. If youre not keen on seeing those creepy rhizomes while youre laid in the bath, make sure you place it on a pebble tray and mist the rhizomes to stop them drying out. I was really sick 😷⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ya boy was sick for a good 3 weeks. It was pretty bad, but nothing I hadn’t experienced before (at first). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I grew as the kid with really bad asthma. That meant usually when I got a cold, it was never “just a cold”. It always ways got worse and most times led to an asthma attack which sometimes got me hospitalized 😫. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With COVID going I think anyone who gets sick will have those feelings of “oh no I hope I don’t have it”. For me what started as a cold got worse. So naturally I thought I got it 🤷🏾♂️. Not right away but as my sickness began to drag on and I felt like I wasn’t getting any better. Then on top of that I started getting hives 😳😳 that was the worse part of this whole thing. I’d never experienced hives like that. I started to think maybe one of my plants is blooming or something, did Millie getting into something? I had all kinds of thoughts and I still don’t know.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I ended up getting the covid test and thankfully it came back negative. I’m feeling much much much better now it turned out to be a bad asthma flair up but I do have to see an allergy specialist about the hives. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve missed out on a lot these past few weeks so let me know what’s been going on in your world! 👇🏾 - @blackplanted on Instagram

This might be my favorite plant arrangement yet because I feel it fully captures this current season of my life. A little update on the Marble Queen Pothos/Exotica hybrid. It has been exactly two months since I soil propagated the cuttings of the two plant babies into the same pot. I places the pot by a humidifier, kept the soil moist, waited a few months and here is what I found. All conditions being equal, every single one of the pothos cuttings took whereas only about half of the exotica cuttings did. I’m not surprised that a pothos genus did a lot better than Scindapsus Pictus directly in soil, but I didn’t expect that the pothos would do twice as well. 🤔 All in all, I’m very happy with how the hybrid is turning out. Once the cuttings grow out into a cascading vine, this baby will be epic! 😆 I’ll post the link to my tutorial on how to create this hybrid on my stories, in case you wanted to check it out. Need help rooting your plant cuttings? There are many methods available such as water (easiest), perlite, and soil; but I prefer the sphagnum moss method. Sphagnum moss is a great substrate to use because it retains nutrients, keeps soil warm, and is lightweight (which allows for proper aeration). How to root your plant in sphagmoss: 1. Soak the sphagmoss in warm water for about 20-30 minutes and gently wring excess water out. 2. Place sphagmoss in a glass or clear plastic container (this will allow you to easily monitor the plant roots as they are forming) 3. Now its time to prepare your cutting! To do this, dip the cutting in rooting hormone powder.* 4. Then place the cutting in the now fluffy, rehydrated sphagnum moss. 5. Cover the container your cutting is in with plastic wrap or a glass dome to retain some moisture (think mini-greenhouse!). 6. (Optional) Place on a warm heating pad. *Why use rooting hormone? Rooting hormone significantly improves the plant’s resistance to stress by speeding up the synthesis of the antioxidant enzymes the plant needs to form roots. My first experience with a Zebrina was terrible to say the least but since this one has arrived she’s been a real pleasure. I have to say though they are pretty amazing at organising house party’s that they just love to invite pest to....you know, the types that never know when to leave. 🙈😆 My only real tips for success with these guys is to make sure you don’t over-water them. Mist the undersides of their leaves as often as you can and also keep a really close eye on the undersides for those pesky Spider Mites, Thrips and any other un-welcome characters that might have tagged along. 🔎 One other tip is to get yourself a magnifying glass, you will be amazed when you look at a Spider Mites web through it and can actually see what’s really happening on that leaf. Its been exactly one week 🙀 since 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙮 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩 was planted in the IG world and I am in awe of how much support this has received in such a short of time. I love getting to know this community and all your unique journeys -- plant-related or otherwise -- & Im SO HAPPY that the 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 message has been one that many of you also feel connected to because I have so much more to share with you all! Needless to say, Im looking forward to growing together! And if we haven’t connected yet, let’s be buds! 🌱💚 So before I go on, I thought this would be good time for an intro. 🙆🏻♀️ In a nut-shell: 🌿 The first plant Ive ever purchased was an Alocasia Polly. When I got home that day, I found out that its also commonly known as a Kris plant (my names Krissy!) and it originates from the Philippines (so do I!). We both also thrive in temperatures between 70-85 degrees. Ha, never thought Id introduce myself this way but here I am. 🌿 I adore this plant so much -- I got it tattooed! 🌿 I spent most of my adolescence on the tropical island of Guam. 🏝🌺 🌿 Im an artist to the core. Ive been hinged to a camera since I was 5, double-majored in Graphic Design & Fine Arts, & has operated under an art alias for the last 11 years -- completely immersed in everything from jewelry & 3D design, acrylic/oil/digital painting & illustrations, branding, fashion/lifestyle photography, you name it. If Im not creating something, Im searching for the next thing to create. 🌿 Much of my professional career, however, is less visual & involves helping people achieve their highest potential in their own careers and in life in general - and ensuring that their experience is one that is most positive & meaningful to them.
