New spot on our Hidden California site! During one of our annual Hidden CA roadtrips, we hiked to one of the most curious phenomenons. Located alongside a reservoir is what appears to be an unearthed kingdom from the ancient days. Strange pillar formations tower along the shoreline, twisting 20 feet high. It would not seem unlikely to assume this was a man-made structure, but it’s not! These columns had actually been hidden for over a billion years before the reservoir’s pounding waves began carving them back out. Researchers determined that the structures were created by a combination of cold water dripping down and steam rising out of hot volcanic ash, then spewed by a cataclysmic explosion 760,000 years ago. They are an astounding product of a natural experiment in the physics of hydrothermal convection. The columns began forming by snow seeping into the hot tuff, thus boiling and creating evenly-spaced convection cells similar to heat pipes. X-rays were able to prove that tiny spaces in the convection pipes were bonded together by erosion-resistant minerals. It is believed that as many as 5,000 of these columns exist within a 2-3 sq. mile radius of the lake. This spot will be part of our members section to help reduce foot traffic and aid in its preservation. Read full article on our site. China is Building a Floating Spaceport for Rocket Launches 🇨🇳🚀 In the near future, launch facilities located at sea are expected to be a lot more common. SpaceX announced that it is hoping to create offshore facilities in the near future for the sake of launching the Starship away from populated areas. And China, the latest member of the superpowers-in-space club, is currently building the “Eastern Aerospace Port” off the coast of Haiyang city in the eastern province of Shandong. This mobile launch facility is being developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the country’s largest aerospace and defense contractor. Once fully operational, it will be used to launch light vehicles, as well as for building and maintaining rockets, satellites, and related space applications. As China’s fifth launch facility, it will give the country’s space program a new degree of flexibility. Credit: www.universetoday.com - @dailyastrophysicist on Instagram

- Desert meets sea.

This week the last tendrils of someone else’s energy within were burnt away 𓆃 And with that. A whole world opened up through me again. The first blooms after a forest fire. Tenderly and gently, but determinedly blooming with life again. Without fear, without judgement, without words that weren’t mine. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My world. My devotion to myself and this beautiful life started to flow like a rapid river again. After months of confusion. The most loving arms of the universe reached down for me, after denying myself of them for so long. I found myself wrapped in Love I thought I’d lost. Bursting and spilling over the banks that I’d put up for too long, out of fear that the way I related to life was too much. It never was. I never was too much. I never said that. Someone else did. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Living life sacredly, listening to the messengers I find in each breath, the sway of trees, the cracks in the concrete, the earth’s pulse, is something I reclaim as my own again. There has never been another way, even if I try. Life seduces and takes me in ways I can’t resist anymore. I missed this. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I missed hearing the forest whispers, the gentle spark of the sun within, I missed spirit weaving it’s way through to me every second - and me replying with a ‘thank you’ instead of ‘not now’. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you’ve followed me for a while, I’m so happy to share that I’ll be sharing prose and poetry again like I used to. This is healing for me first and foremost. I will be sharing content that feels nourishing to me, because we have to stop abandoning ourselves for others.⁣ ⁣ 𓆃 The door’s always open for you to leave if it doesn’t resonate anymore, that’s ok and beautiful for both of us to be in spaces that serve us. And just a note going forward- any references in my writing to god/spirit - I use this term as a reference to the loving presence that I sense everyday, not in the traditional theistic sense nor attached to any specific religion. 🦋🤍 - @farahrising on Instagram
