Ей предшествовали более тридцати эскизов, акварелей и работ маслом, которые «документируют» процесс создания работы. Удивительно, но, после того, как художник завершил длительную предварительную работу, сама композиция была написана всего за четыре дня, что подтверждается фотографиями, сделанными между 25 и 28 ноября 1913 года. Главный мотив - овальная форма, пересекаемая неправильным прямоугольником воспринимается как центр, окруженный вихрем цветов и форм . I’ll be in conversation with Guadalupe Maravilla, who will speak about his work on immigration, detention, trauma and healing through sound. I’ll be talking about Black rage. Black rage is borne of chronic waiting. It is a product of both immediate and ancient grievances waiting to be heard and repaired. Its relationship to time is both immaterial and precise. Its timeline folds back on itself, winds around, gets lost in a cocoon of false social progress. Our experience of Black rage moves at the speed of our ancestors’ accumulated suffering, an avalanche you can hear coming from centuries away. It slows, suspends, and elongates when we collectively exhale in light of a symbolic policy victory. It exudes urgency when ignited by a George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, or Tony McDade. We bide the passing time enraged, making others wait while we protest in busy streets, and practicing various freedoms to prepare us for the real thing. Yesterday the world lost a great artistic soul, Hawaii lost a graffiti king, and I lost a friend. I feel blessed to have been able to spend time with @beaksup808 creating art, talking about art and life, working out problems and bouncing ideas off of his unique brain! His smiles and infectious laughter was from another world, it would make me giggle in my studio from across the building. I’m gonna miss racing drift carts with him, and honing my ping pong skills against the master. I’m gonna miss telling him, I’ll skate again one day and join him at the bowl in Aala park. Or that I’ll paddle out with him next time and go shred the gnar gnar, even though I never did. I’m gonna miss watching him produce amazing one-line tags, and fire out stickers at an unreal pace. I’ll miss seeing his throwies in the most random spots across honolulu, and the energy that just one B3@K piece can foster. My home has been blessed with multiple pieces of his work, and I will treasure them and our time together always. I will be eternally sorry that I couldn’t be of more help to my brother, and hope he found the peace he so deserved. We’ve come a long way with the language we use to talk about our trans brothers and sisters, but we still have a long way to go.⁣ ⁣ Billy Tipton was an American jazz musician, bandleader, and talent broker. For decades, Tipton assumed a male gender identity. Tiptons female birth sex (AFAB) was not publicly revealed until after his death, and the revelation came as a surprise to family and friends.⁣ ⁣ Tiptons music career began in the mid-1930s when he led a band for radio broadcasts. He played in various dance bands in the 1940s and recorded two trio albums for a small record label in the mid-1950s. Thereafter, he worked as a talent broker. Tipton stopped performing in the late 1970s due to arthritis.⁣ ⁣ Tiptons sex was reportedly concealed from the four women who would later call themselves Mrs. Tipton. Tipton kept the secret of his extrinsic sexual characteristics from them by telling them he had been in a serious car accident that resulted in damaged genitals and broken ribs.⁣ ⁣ The existence of Trans people is not something new, they have always been here, are real and valid. This year – october 9th – John would celebrate his 80. Birthday. I miss him very much and I think often of the many experiences we shared . For example singing with him together in duet of his cover version of “Bring It On Home to Me” was very exciting for me. It was part of a medley on his Rock ‘n’ Roll Album (Release 1975). The amazing orginial was sang by Sam cook and Lou Rawls. My new artprint reflects this very special moment.
