TUBERCULOSIS 👨🏽💻This was a tricky case - there was a clear abnormality at the right hilum with consolidation in the right mid zone but the more subtle findings were: ▫️Consolidation extending behind the right heart shadow - remember to look behind the heart, the density should be roughly equal on both sides ▫️Well defined apical opacity - compare both apices and look between the ribs, here there was an opacity on the right ▫️Left lower rib erosion - follow all of the ribs! Sometimes a subtle rib erosion can be the only abnormality on the film 👨🏽💻These findings could represent either a primary lung cancer or TB - given the age of the patient TB is the most likely diagnosis here. ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSTPONEMENT We have taken the very difficult decision to postpone the Christchurch Food Festival due to take place from 8-10 May 2020. The Festival will now take place from 29th – 31st August (August Bank Holiday Weekend). Thanks to the support of BCP and Christchurch Town Council, we have secured the venue and have agreement for road closures for the new dates. COVID-19 You will be aware of the constantly changing situation regarding COVID-19 and now that the government has moved to the ‘delay’ phase of its strategy, the goal appears to be to slow down the spread of the disease so that the peak occurs during May and June. From the Festival’s perspective, regardless of whether by then the government has ordered a ban on large gatherings (which in our view seems very likely), our feeling is that this would be a catastrophic time period to be trying to deliver a large scale public event, particularly with regard to the health of visitors, traders and our staff. Our aim has always been to deliver an event that supports small independent businesses with the opportunity to enjoy fantastic trading conditions as well as creating an exciting experience for tens of thousands of visitors. We do not believe that the current dateline will now offer this. We are obviously very sorry that we have had to take this decision and for the inconvenience it will cause. I wrote this years ago and I feel like many of my patients use my Facebook and Instagram posts to do just this... When we moved to Irving and I decided to join a practice in Lewisville, I realized I wanted to know more about the schools in the area and get a feel for the culture of the teachers that would be teaching my patients and kids. I searched online and found great and encouraging information about Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Irving and Lewisville school districts. I also looked up several teachers and administrators While I expected to get good information, I never expected to learn a concept that I hope to incorporate into my medical practice, but that is exactly what happened. I followed an educator on Twitter (@LaurenBibby) who is the Technology Integration Specialist for Lewisville ISD (@LewisvilleISD) and she has since “introduced” me to a concept known as the flipped classroom (even though she doesn’t know it yet). Wikipedia describes flipped learning as “a form of blended learning in which students learn new content online by watching video lectures, usually at home, and what used to be homework (assigned problems) is now done in class with teachers offering more personalized guidance and interaction with students, instead of lecturing.” So, students watch lectures at home in the afternoon then come to school the next day to do homework and other projects during class time. This gives the teacher time and opportunity to address what the student doesn’t understand from the lectures rather than have students turn to their parents for their Calculus homework (when dad had trouble passing Algebra). So, how does this apply to me and my practice? I’d like to have more patients to do “flipped check-ups.” In the flipped classroom, student listen to lectures at home and come prepared to do work and application related to the material. In a flipped check-up, parents would read and learn about the upcoming checkup (check out this page on my blog: Check-Ups for an example), develop specific questions and then allow me to get into deeper, higher-level education when they come in for their check-up... Un dolor en la cara externa mantenido en el tiempo del antebrazo (llamado epicondilitis) no siempre tiene un único componente mecánico sino que hay que tener en cuenta el componente nervioso. Una sensibilización a nivel C6 (cervical número 6) podría justificar que ese dolor del antebrazo no desparezca si solamente tratamos en la zona afectada. Por eso mismo , técnicas manipulativas de C6 enfocadas a generar analgesia ayudan al tratamiento. . Un dermatoma es el área de piel inervada por un solo nervio raquideo y su ganglio espinal. Los nervios cutáneos son los que llegan a la piel, recogiendo la sensibilidad de ésta. Cada nervio cutáneo se distribuye en una cierta zona de piel, llamada dermatoma. De cada segmento de la médula surgen un par de raíces posteriores o sensitivas y un par de raíces anteriores o motoras, que se unen lateralmente a nivel del foramen intervertebral para formar un nervio espinal mixto. Sabah has recorded 1,877 Covid-19 cases as of Wednesday (Sept 30), says state Health Department director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi. Of these, a total of 842 are still being treated at the various hospitals statewide. The death toll remains at 13, whereas there are still a total of 1,100 held at quarantine facilities and 1,797 are still home quarantined. Dr Rundi said in a statement that there are a total of 12 clusters in the state so far, namely the Benteng LD cluster with 878 patients, Bangau-Bangau with 285 cases, Pulau at 49 cases, and Selamat at 25 cases. The other clusters are the Laut cluster (24), Bakau (17), Kg. Sakong (9), Kuarters (7), Buang Sayang (5), Jalan Bomba (3), Udin (3) and Jalan Utara (2) cluster. Los pacientes con insuficiencia cardíaca leve (IC) sin bloqueo completo de rama izquierda (BCRI) no obtuvieron una reducción significativa en el riesgo de un evento de IC o muerte en el ensayo MADIT-TRC (ensayo de implantación de desfibrilador automático multicéntrico con terapia de resincronización cardíaca). Sin embargo, la eficacia de la terapia de resincornización cardíaca con un desfibrilador (TRC-D) puede modificarse después del desarrollo de la primera hospitalización por insuficiencia cardíaca (IC). El objetivo fue estudiar el efecto del TRC-D sobre el riesgo a largo plazo de hospitalización por IC recurrente en pacientes sin BCRI en MADIT-TRC.
