The Twin Falls Ferry was an early method of crossing the Snake River into the city of Twin Falls. Unfortunately, on at least three occasions the ferries didnt make it across, causing injury and sometimes death to the passengers. Which was strange when in 1964 an abandoned, non-marked, lifeboat was found washed up on the shore. Supplies were spread about but no traces of people were found. Its still a mystery today

In 1906, John Wesley Wolfes family moved into the cabin at Wolfe Ranch. His daughter, Flora, took several photos of her family that document their time on the ranch, which was later incorporated into Arches National Park. Flora used her camera to chronicle family memories and capture the striking landscapes in the area. This shot was taken flying over a mountain stream close to the border of Laos while trolling for groundfire from Viet Cong (VC) or any NVA that might be in the area. Oh! yes we were decoys flying low to the ground to draw gunfire from the enemy and then we would call in the Jets or any A-1E aircraft that would be in the area. Als ein Zeppelin über das Walberla flog Update: Die Archivleiterin des Zeppelin-Museums vermutet, dass das Luftschiff auf dem Foto Graf Zeppelin ist. In der monatlichen FT Forchheim-Rubrik „Aus dem Forchheimer Tagblatt vor 90 Jahren“ – zusammengestellt vom Forchheimer Stadtarchivar Rainer Kestler – war am 1. September 2020 zu lesen, dass 1930 ein Luftschiff („Graf Zeppelin“) über dem Walberla war. Im Fotoalbum seiner Schwiegermutter Gretl Kroder hat unser Leser Roland Kaplan in diesem Zusammenhang ein interessantes Foto entdeckt. Beschriftet ist es mit: „1936 Walberlafest – Luftschiff Hindenburg“. Bekannt ist, dass das Bild von einem Gast der Wandergruppe „Edelweiß Fürth“, die seit vielen Jahrzehnten die Gastwirtschaft Kroder in Schlaifhausen besuchte, damals bei einer Wanderung gemacht und der Wirtin gegeben wurde. Kaplans Schwiegermutter hat dann später die Notiz hinzugefügt. In Gesprächen habe sie die Echtheit des Ereignisses bestätigt. Bei der 650-Jahr-Feier des Dorfes (2012) wurde das Bild in einer Ausstellung gezeigt, wobei sich ältere Personen daran erinnern konnten. 📸 Archiv Roland Kaplan Der Zeppelin LZ 129 „Hindenburg“ war neben seinem Schwesterluftschiff LZ 130 eines der beiden größten jemals gebauten Luftfahrzeuge. Am 6. Mai 1937 wurde er bei der Landung in Lakehurst (New Jersey, USA) zerstört, als sich die Wasserstofffüllung entzündete. 35 der 97 Menschen an Bord sowie ein Mitglied der Bodenmannschaft kamen ums Leben.
