Couple new beers heading your way this week! With the temperature dropping by the day, that can only mean one thing........the slow realization and sadness of Summer being gone. We decided to brew an IPA that keeps us holding on as long as we can. My Sweet Summer Is Gone is a 6.6% NEIPA hopped with Azacca and Amarillo and then finished off with Mango and Peach purée. Fruity and tropical hops paired with some of our favorite fruit = tropical juice IPA. Come hold on to summer as long as you can! Performance Review 18 is a 8% DIPA dry hopped with some good good! As with all Performance Review beers, we like to explore the many options brewing beer allows us on a daily basis. PR18 starts with a heavily oated grain bill. Then we took some tasty yeast strains and blended them for a pretty cool outcome. Followed by a BIG dry hop of Simcoe, Amarillo and Citra. PR18 is a big hazy DIPA with a nice bitterness and juicy balance of fresh tangerine, orange rind and pine. It’s different from a lot of beers we make, and we dig it. I absolutely love my Facebook memories! It takes me back to a really happy time of our lives and miss baseball even more! Before meeting Cj I had no understanding of the game and rules whatsoever but with time I learned how to love and feel every bit of emotion during every second of the game. Experiencing that with @cjwilsonphoto was the most amazing and real thing to me. Watching him train physically and emotionally to pitch every 5 days was pretty raw and intense and he was so focused on his work and improvements daily. It made me proud to be by his side every step of the way, good days, bad days, surgery days, painful days, he was always positive and strong mentally ... I became his number 1 fan very fast because I saw close enough that he’s a rockstar. And I still am proud of him and happy to be his partner in life. In a rehab start in Triple A Sacramento on Saturday, Johnny Cueto pitched 3 2/3 shutout innings, giving up only hit on a slow roller to short, striking out four, and walked none. His command and stuff were both very sharp, which is surprising considering he hasn’t pitched since late April. Cueto threw 48 pitches, and likely will have to more rehab starts before coming off the DL. This is great news for the Giants. Before going down with an elbow injury, Cueto had an ERA south of one, and was arguably the best pitcher in baseball at the time. While the Giants have gotten surprising contributions for Andrew Suarez and Dereck Rodriguez, they’re obviously lacking front of the rotation starters outside of Madison Bumgarner. When Bumgarner and Cueto were healthy in 2016, they formed arguably the league’s most dominant 1-2 punch and carried the Giants to the postseason. As the Giants continue to hang around at 40-39, Cueto’s return may be what they need to give them an extra level of confidence. Having another reliable starter would also take pressure off the bullpen, which was has been overused this season. Especially with a tough schedule coming up, the Giants need Cueto badly. They only have to wait another week or two, because he’s rehabbing much faster than anyone anticipated and doesn’t look like he missed he beat. Unlike how Bumgarner struggled when first coming off the DL, I would expect Cueto to return to the form he had before he got hurt. Obviously he won’t be able to maintain an ERA south of one, but it shouldn’t sky rocket 2.50, and considering the lowest ERA in the rotation right now is Chris Stratton’s 4.14 ERA, it clear that they would obviously take that. With Cueto back and the surprising contributions from Rodriguez and Suarez, the Giants may be fine with the way their rotation is. 30 years ago today, this was the cover of Sports Illustrated. Reminds me of the era for us kids back then. To be a 8 to 14 year old in 1990. We were running around to card shows on the weekend at a bowling alley or hotel ballroom and crazy ones like me were autograph chasing waiting outside hotels where visiting teams were staying. The access was ridiculous. There were no back doors. You saw the biggest stars in the flesh and the nicest ones (Tony Gwynn to me) you actually had conversations with. Its why I love sports memorabilia so much today. I do regret one part of this and I hope to pass it on to the generation of kids. Get the picture of you and the athlete before the autograph, it will actually be worth a lot more to you.
