So the last 12 months have been a huge learning curve for me and the last few months has taught me what is important and what I need to do for me . This weekend I made the decision to close the Brownhills shop from FRIDAY 25th SEPTEMBER. People will gossip and make up their own minds on why I have taken this decision but in all honesty it’s for my own health and well being . Vibe // noun - 1. a persons emotional state or the atmosphere of a place as communicated to and felt by others Back in July I decided to change up my space. I had been working in both my second bedroom/office where pre pandemic I would see in person clients as well as my dining room where I had my office/computer set up. At the end of June I realized that with my office so spread out I was never fully taking time for myself & as I entered in July I decided to take some time to dedicate to making my second bedroom into an office. I invested in a new desk, a new computer a desktop at that... talk about grounding into a space. I hung new shelves, got rid of old energy. I wanted a space where I could walk into my office each morning and tune in before sitting down at my desk as well as between clients. I wanted to maintain space for myself to record sound healings as well as treat the occasional in person client. At the start of September the office was almost done and yesterday and today two final pieces arrived. My crystal harp and my third eye mirror. Each item in this office has a place, has meaning and feels aligned with my soul. To be able to open my office door in the morning and close it at the end of the day is huge for me. Over the last 4 years I worked from everywhere. Calls from my bed, hotels, airports, dining room, parks you name it. It is how I got to where I am now. Which is grounded. I am so thankful fo me every part of the journey. It has been a wild ride and one in which I have rarely stopped let alone reflected. In this moment and with this upcoming full moon I am being guided to rest and reflect. As I head out of town next week for a few days of work and then an undetermined amount of play I can’t help but be in a state of gratitude for the guidance from God and my highest self that has brought me to this moment and the fact that I have taken every step to get here. We are entering into the harvest season. This full moon brings to fruition all you have been working for since the new moon in Aries 6 months ago. This was taken the eve of our first day open. To think that anyone came back after that first day (or first 6 months if we’re being honest) is a miracle! Thank you! At both of our salons weve installed the same UV-C LIGHT technology used in the top surgical and medical facilities. A recent study at Columbia University found that continuous airborne disinfection with UV-C light could greatly reduce the level of airborne virus in indoor environments occupied by people. The study also found that UV-C light was 99.99% effective at eliminating airborne Coronavirus. Welll it’s August 1st. All Ca salons are still ordered to be closed. Our allowance to work outside is not only ridiculous but came with restrictions like No chemical services, only dry cutting under an open wall canopy with an outdoor receptionist area to follow protocol for clients. While that could possibly work for a barber shop or kids haircutting salon, it definitely doesn’t work for a salon that primarily specializes in color/chemical services and it especially doesn’t work for a (21 stylist) salon surrounded by restaurants. Can you imagine 21 stylists cutting 21 clients under a canopy on the sidewalk?! Now add 6ft social distancing between all of us..🤣 you get the jist. So here it is.. our beautiful, empty salon complete with the newly installed partitions. We have our nifty (expensive) touch free thermometers and endless disposable masks/gloves to make sure every single person is safe while getting serviced just sitting there “collecting dust”. As hairstylists, half of our duty is to be sanitary and safe. Can we please go back to work now? Our businesses are suffering and we’re pretty freakin BORED! Covid has brought a lot of change and I’m ready to face it head on! My dear friend and mentor @jennastylesofficial is opening up a brand new salon in January (21 chairs with a cafe inside 😍). I have decided to partner with her and be in the beginning stages of this new salon opening!!! In the meantime, I will be renting a space from her in her studio suite! The suite and new salon are both in San Marcos! It was announced yesterday that hair salons will be part of second phase in the reopening plan. Although details are vague, we are encouraged and excited about today’s development, however the actual reopening date is not yet been announced as we are waiting for more info from WorkSafe BC. When this announcement happened, we as an industry had more questions than answers, but we are all working together to find the best way to work the “New Normal” so we can all get back to what we love doing most. We at Headspace are making use of this time to ensure the salon space will feel safe and as comfortable as we can for everyone. There are certain changes that are in process but it is a work in progress to make this a smooth transition to our new normal. There will be changes in the physical layout of the salon, a new schedule for your favorite stylist, staggering appointments, needing to have PPE for the stylist (which is hard to come by these days), requirements that need to be put in place inside and outside the salon. Please email us at info@theheadspace.com to reserve your spot on the list of appointments waiting to be booked in if you haven’t already done so. At the end of the day, there is still a lot to do and figure out as we wait for the guidelines to come out. THE SALON WILL BE OPEN AGAIN, this I can promise you! The big question is when as there was no official date set for re-opening following the announcement. All I ask is for patience for a little bit longer.
