The last months, magazines and newspapers displayed masked human beings all around. Seeing the world through a plastic shield or behind a mask is not only for doctors and nurses anymore. These safety protection devices have become necessary in the fight for survival on the streets, in the stores, in the parks, everywhere. In my lockdown, the overwhelming printed information in magazines and newspapers became my new way to interact with the surrealism of this apocalyptic landscape. A truck company is classified as a support unit. Typically when a truck arrives on scene of a structure fire they are assigned to roof division. Depending on the type of building they will perform some sort of ventilation tactic. Vertical ventilation (shown above) allows for better interior firefighter operations. It increases visibility and survivability for interior crews and trapped victims by removing superheated smoke and gases from the structure. Vertical ventilation is performed from the roof because smoke and heat rise. Above the fire is the most dangerous place to be, but its where our truck companies go to keep the victims and interior crews safe. - @oxnardcityfire on Instagram

Louis son, Eric, developed the first non-slip and adhesive ski skins in Switzerland, already consisting of natural mohair fiber. Later on, his son Guy, also contributed to the evolution of the products. Thanks to his knowledge in rubber, he gave POMOCA skins its innovative waterproofing. Since then, the herited expertise of the family allowed POMOCA to improve its skins thanks to technological innovations. Ambas tortugas tienen un transmisor adherido a su caparazón y de esa manera podemos monitorearlas. Esta información obtenida por la señal emitida al sistema satelital nos ayuda saber no solo sus patrones de movimiento, sino también saber si han visitado zonas de alimentación o si algo anda mal. ¿A que nos referimos con el si algo anda mal? Podemos saber si la tortuga se encuentra en la orilla mucho tiempo (fuera de lo normal), o si por mano humana fue removida de su hábitat, indicándonos el lugar en donde se encuentra. Aqui pueden ver el mapa de sus movimientos desde el día de liberación. Chely (tortuga verde) es los puntos verdes y Kai (tortuga carey) los amarillos. Qué nítido, ¿verdad? Reconocemos el excelente trabajo de nuestro equipo de rescate, veterinario, manutención y voluntariado en el cuidado de estas tortugas, y el extraordinario trabajo del técnico Edward Hernández en el monitoreo posterior a la liberación interpretando el loco mundo de ARGOS y la telemetría satelital. Lloyd W. Williams was an officer during the First World War. Born in 1887 in Virginia he became a second lieutenant of the US Army in 1909 🇺🇲 . On 3rd June 1918 Williams and a division of Marines were assigned to help the French Army 🇨🇵 at Belleau Wood. When asked to retreat by a French Colonel he said Retreat, Hell! We just got here! . On 11th June 1918 Williams led an attack that routed the German defenders at Belleau Wood near Chateau-Thierry, France. According to a French Major, after he ordered Williams to withdraw, Williams replied with Go To Hell. Sometime later Williams was gassed and injured by shrapnel. He was lying wounded in battle. The medics came to him and Williams said Dont bother with me. Take care of my good men . Williams would die from an artillery shell while being evacuated. The German strategy for Operation Barbarossa (June 22 1941) . Since 1940, the Germans had already been planning an Axis invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, codenamed Operation Barbarossa (see previous post). Stalin had been warned several times for an Axis invasion and the Soviets did make significant preparations, but Stalin desided not to run the risk of provoking the führer by stationing too many troops and tanks on the westfront. . Meanwhile the Germans had secretly been moving around 3,8 million Axis soldiers and several thousands of tanks and aircraft to the eastern front in preparation for the invasion. The führer and his generals had planned the following invasion strategy. The Axis army, which consisted of around 150 divisions, would be split up into three Army groups: Army Group North, Army Group Center and Army Group South. Army Group North would advance into Northern Russia and try to capture or destroy the city of Leningrad. Army Group Center, which had the most armoured divisions and air support, would advance from Poland into the western center of Russia and advance towards Moscow. Army Group South would march through Ukraine from the south, capturing Kiev and then move eastward into Russia to take the oil-rich Caucasus area near Stalingrad. . The German forces in conquered Soviet areas (mostly Waffen-SS and Einsatzgruppen Units) had to control the areas, preventing any partisan activities and execute captured Soviet political commissars and Jews. The Germans expected a rapid advance into Soviet territory without many obstacles, after which the Red Army would collapse. . What was their biggest mistake during the invasion of the Soviet Union? Today we have two images of the infamous July 1883 log jam on the Grand River at the Detroit and Milwaukee Railroad Bridge in Grand Rapids. The historical marker information: One of the most devastating events in Grand Rapids’ history occurred on the morning of July 26, 1883. Two weeks of record-setting rains had raised the Grand River to flood stage. When lumbermen tried to take advantage of the high water to float their logs downstream, a tremendous seven-mile log jam was created above the Grand Trunk Railroad Bridge, two miles north of downtown. On the morning of July 26, the jam broke loose. Over 600,000 logs rushed downriver, tearing out every railroad bridge in the city as they went. For two hours residents watched helplessly as the logs roared by. For a time it was feared the entire mass would flow all the way to Lake Michigan, but heroic lumberjacks at Grand Haven built booms strong enough to stop the logs short of the open water. Fortunately, no lives were lost, but timber losses and property damages were estimated at over $500,000. In addition to the railroad bridges, many street and pedestrian bridges were damaged, disrupting transportation for several months. 더 나은 비주얼을 만드는 것보다 사람이 일을 하며 응당 추구할 수 있는 행복과 권리를 위해서, 용장관스튜디오 전원은 용기를 내어 오늘 용장관의 공식 입장을 발표하고자 합니다. 여러 추측과 소문이 있었지만 용장관은 탁월한 사진가를 배척한 사례가 있습니다. 해당 사진가는 성적 무절제함과 여성에 대한 반복적인 비도덕적인 행동, 그 밖에도 인간성과 도덕성이 결여된 잦은 사건으로 용장관 뿐만 아니라 그 주변 사람들의 눈과 귀를 의심케 하곤 했었습니다. 모델들과 부적절한 관계를 가질때에도, 함께 작업을 가장 많이 하고 언제나 그 사진가를 지지해주는 기자에 대해 노골적인 성적 묘사 혹은 성희롱을 할 때에도 주변 사람들은 불편해도 모른척 할 수 밖에 없었습니다. 본인의 사욕을 위한 소비를 하는동안에 어시스턴트의 월급을 수달치 밀려서 퍼스트 어시스턴트가 본인의 통장에서 후배 어시스턴트들의 월급을 주는 일도 일어났습니다. 담배꽁초를 어시스턴트의 얼굴에 던지거나 어시스턴트 부모님의 신용카드로 고가의 의류를 구입하고 빨리 되돌려주지 않았고, 외주 업체들에는 억대의 금액이 밀리도록 결제를 하지 않고 본인의 소비에만 집중했습니다. 혼인 중 기자와 부적절한 관계를 맺을때도 어시스턴트들은 망을 보거나 모르는 척 하고 있을 수 밖에 없었습니다. 기본적인 인성을 문제로 삼지 않고, 품고 갈 수 있었을지도 모릅니다. 용장관은 후배를 의미있는 사진가로 양성하는 것뿐만 아니라 나아가 그도 어딘가에서 또 다른 후배들을 끌어줄수 있도록 지식과 경험을 교류하며 어시스턴트와 함께 살아가고 있습니다. 하루중 가족보다 더 긴 시간을, 같은 공간에서 일하며 보내는 사람들에게까지 잘못된 행동을 하는 것은 우리는 더이상 참을 수가 없었습니다. “나한테 언제 대줄거냐” “젖탱이 한 번 만져보자” “어차피 썩을 몸 나한테 한 번 주면 안되겠냐” “물이 많게 생겼다” 어시스턴트들은 이에 대해 항의를 했다가, 행여 해고되어 오랜 시간 꿈꿔온 사진가가 되지 못할까 두려워하며 보이지 않는 곳에서 소리없이 울고 서로를 보듬으며 버틸 수 밖에 없었습니다. 빈번히 일어나는 언어적, 육체적 성희롱을 그렇게 일년 이상을 참는 것 외에는 방법이 없다고, 쉬쉬 했습니다. 그러던 어느 날 여성 퍼스트 어시스턴트를 차로 불러내서 운전하던 막내 어시스턴트에게는 차에서 내려 망을 보게 하고, 차에서 성폭행과 희롱을 가하는 사건이 발생했습니다. 그러는 동안 남자 어시스턴트들은 코앞에서 누나이자 동료를 지키지 못하는 자괴감과 분노로 눈물을 흘렸습니다. 최악의 사태까지 가는 것은 퍼스트 어시스턴트의 강한 의지로 겨우 막았으나 시간이 지나도 지워지지 않는 큰 충격과 그로 인한 흉터는 당사자에게는 물론, 이 사건을 알고 있던 용장관의 여러 사람들이 마음에 고스란히 남았습니다. 수없이 거절하는 목소리과 두려움에 떠는 목소리, 그리고 무서운 말을 내뱉는 그의 목소리가 담긴 그 날의 녹음 파일을 가지고 여태까지 침묵해 왔습니다. 재기를 위해 “무혐의” 라는 단어로 모든 과오를 일축하고 진정성과 자기반성을 운운하는 것에 저희는 입장을 공식적으로 표명하기로 어려운 결정을 내렸습니다. 수많은 피해자가 자의로 나서지 못하고 있습니다. 피해자가 여성인 성범죄의 대부분이 증거가 무형인 경우가 많은데 무혐의라는 단어를 말하고 그 무게를 받아들이는 데에 주의와 공감을 간곡히 부탁드립니다. 깊이 반성했다고 해서 용서받는 것이 아니며, 용서는 본인이 스스로 하는 것이 아닙니다. 이 짧은 글에는 다 담지 못하는, 경험과 시간을 공유한 우리는 한 명의 것이 아닌 가족의 상처를 아직도 회복중에 있습니다. 무혐의란 단어보다 수많은 경험들과 피해에 귀를 기울여 주세요. 우리가 사랑하고 아끼는 모델들, 스탭, 동료들이 오늘 우리의 이 글로 인해 2차적인 피해를 입지 않았으면, 그들의 상처를 진심으로 걱정하며, 용장관은 글을 올립니다. 우리는 그들의 상처가 진짜인지 가짜인지 의심하지 않습니다. 우리는 그들의 고통의 원인은 그들이 아니라는 것을 믿습니다. 본문 내용 중 “성폭행” 이라는 단어를 사용한 바 있습니다. 최악의 사태를 가까스로 막았다는 상황에 빗대어 표현하였기에 단어 자체가 잘못된것은 아니지만 피해자에게 위험했던 사건 상황을 떠올리게 하는 표현이 될 것을 우려하여 성추행이라는 단어로 정정합니다. 함께 공감하고 걱정해주신 많은 분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다 - @yonghee_ on Instagram
