Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ray Hermosillo (retired) who passed away on September 7, 2020. After serving as a volunteer firefighter for the department for several years, Ray was hired as a full time firefighter in November 1966. He was both the first latino firefighter and the first bilingual Spanish speaking firefighter. Ray was a highly-skilled, multifaceted person with a no-nonsense professional approach to his job. He served our Department and community for 32 years until his retirement in October 1994 as a Firefighter III. We are grateful for his service to the community and for being a great role model and mentor to all the young firefighters who had the opportunity to work with him. The impact of his mentoring and leadership skills is evident throughout the department and it is being passed on to the next generation of firefighters. Thank you for your service Ray. . : crimony, the rhino vinyl stooges fun house box set, thank you hank! from ig: Building Fun House by Iggy Pop I was laying on my back on the floor of the Stooges rehearsal room, stoked on LSD and reefer, staring at the lovely amplifiers and egg cartons on the walls, when I thought I saw the word Funhouse hovering above me in the air, just below the ceiling. We were about half way through writing and preparation for our sophomore album, and it needed a title this time. I remember thinking this is it; were going with it. The rehearsal room was set up in the former salon of a lovely old farmhouse we rented for $325 a month on the outskirts of Ann Arbor. It had a wide porch, a stately driveway, and a nice lawn and trees. There was an abandoned corn field and junked car in back. The farmer was too old to live there anymore, so we took over. There was a kitchen, rec room, tv room, rehearsal room, 2 proper bedrooms, 2 separated apartments, and a converted attic and basement. 6 of us slept there, most of the time. There was a lot of dope smoking, some good writing, and a bit of rehearsal done at that house which later became known as The Funhouse after the album. The songs on the album were all written there, most of it in my attic bedroom. Ron had gotten his hands on the best private apartment, and a nice girlfriend too named Shelly. So, he wasnt as prolific as he had been previously, and I dont blame him. Anyway, Id write a number that I thought the group could play well, bring it downstairs from my attic room and try to rehearse it up. Once it was solid, wed play it at our gigs on the weekend. Scott Asheton and myself were both very keen to do something much more aggressive than our first record which was more laid back in certain ways. Im not sure what Ron thought about that, but he definitely enjoyed what we were doing on this new record. As the concept progressed, I felt that the kind of music we were doing needed to expand and explode as the record moved forward, and thats why we brought in Steve Mackay to help blow us over the top with his psychedelic sax... - @wattfrompedro on Instagram

@moessouthwestgrill has always been familiar for me: I religiously participated in Moeās Monday for over two years eating a $5.99 burrito with chips and salsa (name a better deal, you canāt). So to say that after at least a year of absence from the establishment, when I decided to pencil in my calendar a āhomecomingā visit this afternoon, I had high expectations. Customers would forfeit their spots in line for me. The burrito itself would be wrapped in gold. Employees would be lined up to greet me. ā£ā£ ā£ā£ Not even a single murmur as I enter the restaurant. Maybe I think I heard the cashier say ā...welcome to Moeās...ā with his inside voice for the customer behind me as he headed into the back room. Extremely deflating. ā£ā£ ā£ā£ The line employee asked the cashier to google what was in this new promotional item so she could complete it correctly. Not to mention we had a re-wrap (point deductions) as the first one split, and even the re-wrapped tortilla had a burst seam. ā£ā£ ā£ā£ It was a good chicken burrito, however it wasnāt a good buffalo chicken burrito. Ingredients were dispersed quite nicely as it was a natural by-product of the re-wrap process. Overall, feelings of let down and confusion describe my mood as I try to pinpoint why this burrito was nothing like what I ordered. The KPL is a multi-user core teaching lab for RCSI which encompasses all undergraduate Pharmacy teaching activities from drug dispensing to Pharmaceutics practicals as well as foundation year medical practicals and lab skills exams.ššš§Ŗš¬ . . Suffolk County police officers patrol the county 24-hours-a-day to keep our residents safe. They do this during inclement weather, on holidays and overnight when most people are sleeping. The seemingly simple act of operating a patrol car under adverse conditions is one of the inherent risks to law enforcement. We were unfortunately reminded of the danger when two Suffolk County police officers were seriously injured in motor vehicle crashes and their recovery has been anything but easy. Itās been more than two years since First Precinct Police Officer Don Dillon was patrolling during a snow storm when his patrol car was hit head-on by an individual who was driving high on drugs and operating a stolen car at high speed, despite the poor weather. Officer Dillon suffered numerous broken bones including his pelvis, hip and leg. In a separate crash, Third Precinct Police Officer Christian Vidal was patrolling during the early morning hours on September 1, 2019, when a drunk driver crossed over into his lane of travel and struck his patrol car head on. Officer Vidal was so seriously injured that he was placed in a medically-induced coma. Both Officers Dillon and Vidal want to return to full duty to continue to serve the people of Suffolk County, however, they both still grapple with the serious consequences of their injuries. Earlier this week there was some good newsā after extensive and ongoing efforts on his part to rehabilitate, Officer Vidal returned to work on limited duty. However, Officer Dillon, a former marathon runner, has not been able to return to duty due to the severity of his injuries. To show the departmentās support for these two officers, Chief of Department Stuart Cameron paid the officers a visit this week. Please remember these two heroic officers and their sacrifice to our county as they continue to struggle with their injuries. For a Mom & Pop Local Business attempting to make it through a pandemic, with no cruel intentions did we mean to cause such a negative outpouring or be blatantly insensitive. In our apology, we do desire to exercise humility and a heart of reconciliation. Sunday is a great day for a open apology and acknowledgement of wrong. As an individual with a moral compass and compassion for the full spectrum of people and one who himself spent years working with the Severe & Profoundly Handicapped our owner wishes to openly apologize to the individual that made the post and any person who has a handicapping condition that this could have affected. In a time of civil unrest, morale decay and issues within our world and country that are far outside our scope of comprehensively understanding, we shouldnt be people of insensitivity nor should we be people that encourage hate, public ridicule or public shaming on social media outlets in an attempt to advocate for a cause. In reality that doesnt bring positive attention to the cause, it shifts the perspective toward anger which dilutes any attempt of awareness for the just cause. Advocates bring about change with actions that bring others closer to the cause itself. Again, as the owner of the business, I will take my lick and admit that I was indeed wrong. There is always another side of a story that may not be heard, so if anyone who viewed that post thought why would this jerk park there like that? Here you have it in full. At 7:45 p.m. or so I pulled into an almost empty parking lot in which only 2 of 7 Businesses were open to unload a few heavy boxes of products, check our cash drawer & alarm system. This would take me about 7-10 minutes on this night. My intentions were to get in and out & not occupy the space or spaces, even though Id left one handicapped spot available that was closest to one of the two open businesses. Nagpur gets new DCP, 6 ACPs; Maknikar, Khedekar shuffled within city In line with the spate of reshuffle in police departments across Maharashtra, IPS Lohit Matani has been transferred to Nagpur as Deputy Commissioner of Police. Matani who was the Commander of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) will lead Nagpur police as new DCP, a notification released by the Home Ministry stated on Wednesday night. Besides, few reshuffles also happened within Nagpur city as well. BURGER DAY UPDATE! Last week on #burgerday4unitedway 1,452 burgers were sold over our four locations and we want to thank every single person who came out to support the @unitedwayvictoria! That means we at Big Wheel donated $2,904 and the @bwcommunityfoundation donated $1,452. But that only brought us to just shy of @unitedwayvictoria goal of 5k. So we donated an extra $644 on top of that to bring the final donation and official cheque presentation to $5,000!!!! All of this money is going towards childrens literacy programs here on the island and we couldnt be happier to support this great cause! Massive THANK YOU to everyone who joined us last week. Geoffrey Davis - Peachland Pharmacy Manager/Store Operator ā¢ Just before I started working here at Peachland Pharmacy, I underwent open-heart surgery. I was born with a congenital heart defect. The medical term is a bicuspid aortic valve, which basically means that my aortic valve only has two leaflets, where a regular person has three leaflets, kind of like the Mercedes Benz symbol. I only discovered this when I was 18 years old, and the doctor said no problem, youll live to a ripe old age and have no trouble, you just cant be a professional athlete. I was okay with that. I played hockey a bit, but nothing too serious. ā¢ But then suddenly I was 31, and I was having heart palpitations. I went on a trip to Guatemala with my church, and I passed out while I was playing basketball, which was more than a little nerve-racking. I had thoughts of rushing home, but didnt right away. I was concerned. My wife was concerned. She wasnt with me, because she was at home with the kids. Eventually, I got checked out by a cardiologist, and he says yep, you need open-heart surgery to repair this valve. ā¢ Honestly, the unknown was scary. So many thoughts were racing through my head. ā¢ How well would my family do if I dont make it off the table? Would they be taken care of? I didnt want my kids to grow up without a father. ā¢ But I made it off the table. ā¢ Its been almost 15 years since I had my surgery, and according to my specialists, everything still looks great. I still stay active, and I love to cycle as much as possible. I often go on bike rides that are 30 to 100 kilometres-long. ā¢ That was a life-changing moment for me at that point. I realized life is complicated, but life also produces unique opportunities. When I see my clients, I can empathize with them in their health challenges when theyre faced with a lot of these difficult decisions. It gives me a lot of compassion when I see clients who are facing these challenges in their own lives. Its one thing when youre going through it personally. But then I think of my wife. She was challenged with going through it with me. It was a very difficult road to go down, and by the grace of God, we got through it.ā - @peachlandbc on Instagram

Yesterday we celebrated a great man and co-worker, Paul Rubsam who is retiring after 17+ years as Finance Director at NDP. Paul was given his official construction helmet for his role in making our new Performing Arts Center possible. He was overwhelmed by the generosity of those who contributed to his legacy gift to make sure he can have a little fun in retirement.
