Most salivary gland tumors in children are benign. Some salivary gland tumors are malignant and these are unfortunately more common in young children. ❎After rhabdomyosarcoma, salivary gland malignancies are the most common tumor in the head and neck in children. 🛑Most common type is mucoepidermoid carcinoma. ❌Most common place is the parotid glad. 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: past treatment for leukemia, lymphoma, sarcoma, or other cancers using chemo /xrt. 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬: a lump or swelling near the ear, cheek, jaw, or lip, or inside the mouth. 𝗪𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐮𝐩: Fine-needle aspiration biopsy to get a baseline diagnosis and imaging including PET/CT, MRI to stage. 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: 1. Surgery: radical resection +/- neck dissection depending on the grade. 2. Radiation therapy: after resection of high-grade tumors or tumors that have invasive characteristics such as lymph node metastasis, positive surgical margins, extracapsular extension, or perineural extension 3. Targeted therapy. 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡: radiation therapy should be used only in carefully selected cases of aggressive malignancy in view of the high risk of radiation-related complications in children. 𝐀𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡: Parotid gland tumors are removed with the aid of neurological monitoring to prevent damage to the facial nerve. 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥: ✴️Overall 5-year survival in the pediatric age group is approximately 95%. A common stereotype of sexuality professionals is that they are “hypersexual and that their “obsession” with sex is what motivates them to enter the field. However, research tells us that this view is inaccurate. In a study published in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, hundreds of sex educators, researchers, and therapists were surveyed about their sex lives and their reasons for entering the field. The three most commonly cited reasons for becoming a sexuality professional were “the field is interesting” (94%), there is still “a lot left to learn about sexuality” (84%), and the desire to “improve sexual health” (79%). Overwhelmingly, people’s motivations for entering the field didnt have anything to do with their own sex lives. In terms of sexual behavior, while sexuality professionals reported more acceptance of sexual diversity, they were actually less likely to report having had casual sex in the past year compared to the national average; however, they did report much higher rates of condom usage. Certainly, there is individual variability—some folks have much higher levels of sexual behavior than others. However, the overall trend tells us that the stereotypes about sexuality professionals aren’t grounded in reality. New Delhi, October 2: The National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) has released its 2019 ‘Crime in India’ report and it has thrown some shocking facts and figures about the vulnerability of the women in India. The report released on Tuesday indicated how the women in India are increasingly becoming unsafe. The latest case before us is the Hathras gang-rape and murder where a 19-year-old Dalit girl was brutally violated by four upper-caste men in Uttar Pradesh. The girl, who was allegedly raped on September 14, died at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Monday during treatment. The latest NCRB report further reveals how a woman is raped every 16 minutes in India, while a dowry death occurs every hour. The data further shows that a woman is subjected to cruelty at the hands of her in-laws or husband every four minutes, said a report in News18 online. The 2019 NCRB report further reveals that a woman becomes a victim of acid attack almost every two days. While a woman is gang-raped and murdered every 30 hours in India. A woman faces a rape attempt every two hours. The case of assault with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty is reported every six minutes. Ruth Bader Ginsburg spoke about the dangers of antisemitism. I had the good fortune of being a Jew born in the United States. Our parents, one of whom came from Odessa—an area where the Jews were fearful of pogroms. I might not have been here—I more than likely would not have survived the Holocaust if my mothers family had remained in Austria. So, thats what I mean by my great good fortune to be in the United States, where, I think, more than any other place, despite the existence of antisemitism, Jews can feel free to live their lives as they will, to think as they choose. . . . I came to see that there were brave people standing up for the most fundamental values of the United States, that is, the right to think and speak freely and without fear that you would be punished for your ideas. After World War II, many nations came to appreciate that elected representatives cant necessarily be trusted to uphold fundamental human rights. And so, countries began to do what the United States had been doing since the beginning. That is, courts interpreting a higher law. In our case, our Constitution and Bill of Rights. In the case of Europe, the new constitutions—the post-World War II constitutions that have similar guarantees of freedom of speech, freedom of religion. And separate tribunals—constitutional courts—began to engage in that business. Its just one more check against the return of an oppressive government. But, today, there is much cause to be concerned. . . . We can see it right now when the leader of Iran speaks about if there was a Holocaust. If there was one, then why didnt Germany create a special state for the Jews? And there are some people in the United States who are buying that kind of propaganda. Do I think it should be a crime to deny the Holocaust? That is a very difficult question. Whats right for one society is not necessarily right for another. . . . In the United States, I still believe that the way to fight bad speech is not to ban it, but to fight it with true speech. Your thumbprint, voice, footprint, heartbeat, and eyes are unique. You’re not one in a million. You’re one in trillions. God custom-made you. And he wants you to be you. You may have heard all your life, “Why can’t you be more like [your brother or sister or friend]?” But if God hadn’t wanted you to be you, then you wouldn’t exist. And, yet, you may spend your life trying to be somebody you’re not. When you do that, you miss your whole purpose. God did not make you and put you here on this planet just to breathe air, take up space, and die. If you’re here, there’s a contribution that only you can make. “For we are God’s masterpiece. Before you were born, God planned the good things he wanted you to do with your life. In other words, he gave you a ministry. Everybody has a ministry. For months we’ve been calling for clear confirmation on how blind and partially sighted people can be guided safely while social distancing through our #WorldUpsideDown campaign. This gap in public health information has caused lots of uncertainty, but we’re pleased that after persistently raising this issue, the Government have confirmed that blind and partially sighted people in England can be guided by someone outside their household or social bubble. Here we’ve put together our guidance on how this can be done while minimising risks. Technological Abuse is the use of technologies such as texting and social networking to bully, harass, stalk or intimidate a partner. Often this behavior is a form of verbal or emotional abuse perpetrated online. • Cell phone calls and texting at unimaginable frequency means constant control day and night • Controlling passwords and financial accounts • Controlling social media accounts or using social media to monitor • GPS tracking • Making threats to use social media against partner Stalking is a course of behavior that is obsessive and harassing that causes the victim to fear for their safety and the safety of their friends or family members. 💜 You deserve respect. For most people in addiction, putting the bottle down is not just about putting the bottle down. When we make statements like “they have to want to get help” you are assuming you KNOW what the person needs and the truth is you don’t! Not everyone will recovers through the Blue Book and coffee and not everyone falls into addiction for the same reasons. Regardless if it’s your brother, best friend, etc. stop assuming you know what one needs to overcome their addiction. Addicts put on masks all of the time and you may not be seeing the full picture. I’m not saying that you should coddle your loved ones... I am saying you shouldn’t assume. Instead of saying “this person doesn’t truly want help” or “you can’t help someone who doesn’t want help”, try “I can’t personally help this person with the tools that I have”. LINK IN BIO. ⭐️This week marks our last week of fundraising for the National Billboard Campaign, which will commission trans, non-binary, and two spirit BIPOC artists to create billboards that speak to the SACREDNESS of Trans Life. These billboards will be raised in late October - right before the elections, so that our voices can be heard. ⭐️ A billboard is a special medium. It is high up in the air and demands to be seen, but cannot be vandalized or removed. We will raise this potent message, that Trans People are Sacred, to the sky, to weave spells of safety, love, understanding, and justice for our community. ⭐️As of this morning we have raised $28.5k out of our goal of $152k which means that our brilliant curators ( @infinitedakota @indigenousvengeance @randybaby11 ) will be paid $1000 each, and that 13 trans, non-binary, and two spirit BIPOC artists will be paid $1000 each and have their work put on a billboard in a city of their choosing. That’s 13 public works that will create joy, hope, and representation for our community. I firmly believe that public art has the capacity to change culture. ⭐️When you share this campaign, when you donate what you are able, you are helping us cultivate some very potent magic. It is magic that honors our trans and gender non-conforming ancestors. Magic that honors the young people in our community who are coming up. Today I wanted to cover STI preventing contraceptives !! (STI= Sexually transmitted Infections) When should you protect yourself from STIs when engaging in sex? ALWAYS unless you and your partner/s/ have been tested recently and both have the green light !! How often should you get tested? Once a year as long as situations stay the same , but youll have to be retested if you change or add partners! Dont have access to a doctor? You can get at home tests or there are some testing facilities that do flexible payments (pay what you can afford) Unsure how to bring up getting tested with a partner ? Try things like Oh I just realised weve never been tested before, would you be up for going this day? Theres a newer at home STI test did you want to try it with me Ive been wanting to get tested soon, whens the last time you got tested? Maybe we should go together !! What if you test positive? STIs are more frequent than you think, there is just still a negative stigma around them. Many STIs are treatable or with use of protection wont effect your sex life! If youve tested positive it is your duty to inform past partners that may be effected as well as any current partners or before engaging with future partners. Try saying something like “Do you have a minute to chat? I want to talk about my recent STI test, because the results may impact you.” Whether its a chronic STI that may effect someone for like or something thats been cured its still important to talk to our partners and make sure we are using proper protection, being open and non judgemental. Everyone who wants it deserves good sex! Coming Out To My Mom TW: this is a story of me coming out to my mom, her reaction is very homophobic and there are mentions of conversion therapy. I don’t remember how long it has been since this happened, but I can place it during my eleventh-grade finals, probably not less than a year. I don’t remember it very clearly either, because I try not to. My parents took my phone because they suspected I’ve been talking to a boy. For some reason they believe that I am a promiscuous teenager, and I cannot talk to a boy without them getting suspicious. They wanted to read my chats with my friends, but I couldn’t let them because I was obviously not out to them. I don’t think I’ll ever be ready for it. So my dad stormed out of the room angrily, and with a lot of courage, I decided to tell my mom in confidence. I told her I had a crush on a girl, that I’d told that to my best friend, and that’s why I didn’t want them to look through my phone. She didn’t say anything for a moment or so, and then she asked me how I could be a lesbian, I’d liked a boy before. I already knew that introducing her to the idea of bisexuality was going to do me no good at the time, so I just said that I don’t know. She started saying stuff like one day I’m going after a boy another day I’m going after a girl, and then she continued to slut-shame me some more. Finally, she told me that I have a very weak mind. She said that whoever this girl is, I probably just really admire her qualities and that made my weak mind think that I have a crush on her. She said that this is not how it works. It is a mental health problem that some people are born with, but it can be fixed without therapy if one is willing to. And I’m sort of ashamed of this, but I agreed with her, and I went on agreeing with her and convinced her that she has successfully converted and cured me after about an hour of crap, and promised me this shall stay between us both, it probably did because my dad seems clueless.
