Estas fotos fueron tomadas el miércoles durante la gran nevada que hubo. A pesar de años de caza sistemática y la destrucción de los lugares donde viven, en los sectores altos del Valle Aconcagua se demuestra indicios de poblaciones recuperándose. Los mamíferos grandes, como el puma y el guanaco, requieren grandes extensiones de territorio inalterados para prosperar. En el Parque Andino Juncal, al ser un espacio protegido, se han visto guanacos con mayor frecuencia y número. Lo mismo en los valles aledaños, como Portillo. Algunas fotos muestran una manada en la entrada del Cajón de Ojos de Agua, cercano al humedal por camino internacional. Y otras fotos son de una familia pasando por la Quebrada Rodado Mecha, entre la Aduana y el túnel del Paso Los Libertadores. A menos de 2 km de Parque Andino Juncal. My one and only baby. For the first time this year I felt a ping of sadness. Being 37 and rolling through posts of motherhood in the traditional sense was different this year. But I will say I’m ok with it. And I also celebrate motherhood. I know it takes a village to raise children. And with this view there are a lot of mothers unseen. Forever ago @williamenta crewed me up with @acme_lighting , he gave me this warning... “Rico is terrible with the walkie, he uses a lot of hand signals, try to keep up.” . . Richard Sands, is an older gentleman with super human strength (Normally you need 4 guys to pick up a 6500watt generator, or 2 guys and one Rico). Equal to his strength is his lighting skills. Probably one of the best in the industry. He used to have a terrible temper back in the day, but has since mellowed, I used to love watching his outbursts on set. . . Propriété de la ville de #Lorient depuis 2007, la #tourdeladecouverte est la première à bénéficier de travaux de restauration dans l #enclosduport : sa coupole métallique fragilisée a été déposée en 2018. La reconstitution d’une nouvelle lanterne est en cours, non pas dans sa version la plus récente de 1949 mais au plus proche de celle de 1891. Larmature vient dêtre livrée. Le système de boule horaire également en cours de reconstitution sera installé sur la tour, ce qui contribuera à faire de la colline du Faouédic un site inédit en France pour découvrir et comprendre les observatoires de marine au XIXe siècle. Like, if you duct tape a really long string to a rock and lay the string out flat behind you like the tail of a comet at rest and then throw the rock as hard as you can, after about nine tries you can drape the string over the appropriate part of the tree and use the weight of the rock -- dangling hilariously in mid-air -- to shake the branches by pulling up and down on the string until the drone slips away and returns to earth, just as the sun has set and the streetlights spark to life and all is right with the world. Lots of people ask what we do with Timber when we go to NP’s. We have this foolproof secret... we leave him at home 😮. Not to be a stickler for the rules or anything (just kidding Erika is a full stickler) but if you bring your dog to a NP/conservation area that specifically says no pets, you ruin it for the rest of us who aren’t bringing dogs because they’ll close free campsites like this entirely, if people can’t obey the basic rules. Of course we ALLLLL want to bring our dogs but guess what? We don’t! Y’all rule breakers selfishly ruin any chances of those areas actually becoming legally dog-friendly in the future, and only encourage the restriction of dog-friendly areas even more because one bad egg made the rest of us look irresponsible. We live permanently in Central Aus and aren’t on the road full time so we can leave T-Roo at home when we need, but if we were on the road full-time, we would use friends, family, MadPaws or kennels if needed or avoid NPs and do them later when the stars align. Look into it before you take your pooch or cat travelling and be a responsible traveler. As we get into peak season at Freycinet, here are a few top tips for making your visit more enjoyable. The Park is at its busiest in mid-summer, so prepare for delays at this time, especially at the Wineglass Bay car park between 10am and 3pm. Consider visiting before 9am and after 4pm when the day is cooler. Due to the traffic hazard, queuing for a car park to become available is not permitted. Roadside parking is limited because of the narrow roads. If it’s looking busy, try exploring other Freycinet sights such as Sleepy Bay, Cape Tourville lighthouse and boardwalk, and Richardson’s Beach. The Freycinet Visitor Centre has a comprehensive shop and information on local attractions, as well as the popular Discovery Ranger activities. Visit www.parks.tas.gov.au for information. Sheep farming in Patagonia! 🐑🐑🐑 This month marks the start of a new holistic management in Patagonian farming... these 3.445 sheep (being counted in pic 2) are now being looked after by a Shepherd and moved strategically everyday to regenerate the land. 🐑 This probably means nothing to someone living in a city... The fire is essentially out here in the Yakima Canyon, and we expect the highway and floating to reopen tomorrow. The fire crews are still monitoring a few of the warm spots, but there is no flame and almost no smoke being generated by our local fire here. Further into Eastern Washington, which is very dry and essentially a desert, has some nasty fires still burning. Thankfully today the wind has laid down and we hope and pray the fires are encountering some natural fire breaks. The Eagles Nest Pine Tree (in photo) just upstream from Reds, wich has had nesting bald eagles for nearly 20 years was spared. The fire burned up to the railroad tracks and we are really grateful it didnt torch all of the riparian zones. Gratefully we are seeing a lot of unburned islands of sagebrush, grass, and many of the pines and other small bushes survived.
