Felicidade, para mim, é um encaixe. Hoje na live com a @carolbusa falamos muito sobre isso. Existe uma felicidade que é mais superficial, eufórica e em geral vem de um reconhecimento externo, uma busca por ser aceita, por pertencer. Tive várias experiências desse tipo, brincamos em nossa conversa que essa é a felicidade do Ego. Mas há uma outra felicidade que é mais profunda, mas serena, mais firme, que é um gosto por seguir vivendo, ver a casa limpa depois de uma faxina, conectar-se de verdade com alguém em uma conversa, sentir que tocou ou emocionou alguém, se deixar encantar por um sorriso... esse tipo de felicidade é o que estou chamando de encaixe, de contentamento em apenas ser. 🆁🅴🅲🅴🅽🆉🅹🅰 Była sobie rzeka to książka, którą byłam zajarana od bardzo dawna. Wydawała się idealnie dla mnie - przepiękna językowo, z elementami realizmu magicznego, stylizowana na baśń, z motywem kryminalnym. Nie przemówiły do mnie liczne opinie, że powieść jest nudna. Ja takie lubię - snujące się powoli opowieści, które czarują stylem i tętnią niesamowitym klimatem. Nie przepadam za szalenie dynamiczną akcją, od której nie można odetchnąć. Wolę poznać bohaterów, podomyślać się i wczuć w historię. Tu mi się jednak to nie udało. Nie umiem za bardzo ocenić tej książki. Bo z jednej strony była baśniowa, piękna, ciekawa i finał był bardzo satysfakcjonujący, polubiłam pewnych bohaterów, niektórym też kibicowałam. Z drugiej strony książka wlokła się niemiłosiernie - mi nigdy nie przeszkadza powolne tempo akcji, ale tu się po prostu męczyłam. Jeśli moje granice nudy zostały przekroczone, to coś tu jest nie halo, takie mam wrażenie. Walczyłam z nią pół miesiąca, czytałam stronę i odkładałam, bo nie miałam ani ochoty ani siły na więcej. Ani przez chwilę mnie też do niej nie ciągnęło i ani na moment nie poczułam się tą historią jakkolwiek podekscytowana. Bohaterowie negatywni byli całkowicie przejaskrawieni i niewiarygodni. Do tego, mimo piękna języka, książka budziła we mnie pewien utrzymujący się niesmak, którego nie umiem opisać. Coś nie tak było z tymi bohaterami. Nie powiem, że to była zła książka, ale nic nie wniosła do mojego życia i też nie bawiłam się na niej w ogóle. Wzbudzała we mnie raczej negatywne emocje. Nie mogę jej polecić, ale rozumiem, że kogoś mogła zachwycić. Ja mam mieszane uczucia i podejrzewam, że szybko o niej zapomnę. . ✨ 45 ✨ How is that number even associated with me? Wtf? I feel less youthful all of a sudden. Those were the thoughts running through my head not that long ago. Also damn, I can’t travel 🤦🏻‍♀️. Then Amanda asked me to speak @gemconference then I realized it’s a full moon. So I get to step into my power under that energy. Speaking about cycles ironically. Then I realized the people I hold closest to me that I cherish, will see and celebrate with them. This time teaching us quality over quantity. I realized I can finally breathe away from expectations and fill my own cup and also not give as much of a fuck. Between you and me I feel more embodied/sexy than I ever have. Even as this body is changing and evolving it feels more juicy and whole. As does my mind and soul. This year has been a holy eff one and the biggest growth I’ve ever seen. So for now, I celebrate, chill out, breathe and stare at the horizon excited, present, living my dharma even in the face of this weird pandemic, I made that leap. Super cool article in our bio link about biofabrication and what it could mean for the future of sustainable fashion! Explores what can ‘living’ clothes (made from things like algae) can do to absorb carbon emissions, reduce our reliance on fossil fuels (used to make polyester and conventional dyes) and ultimately shift the way we value our clothing. “Canadian-Iranian designer Roya Aghighi hopes we can develop a more intimate relationship with fashion -- by treating clothes as living beings that need our help to survive. Working with a group of scientists at the University of British Columbia (UBC), she has invented a living, biodegradable fabric named @Biogarmentry. Made from algae, the biofabricated textile photosynthesizes, which purifies the air around it. ENGRAVER AND CARVER Spanning Art and Technique Glyptics, the oldest known decorative technique for precious stones, is the art of engraving gemstones. It includes both intaglio (with the design cut into the stone) and cameo carving (the design is in relief). For the former, the engraver creates the motif by cutting directly into the stone; in the latter, the motif stands out from the background. Intaglio carving can be used to create seals and stamps, either freestanding or set in a ring. Cameo is an ornamental technique that showcases stratified stones (onyx, cornelian, agate, chalcedony) and their various planes of colors. These pieces most often depict the bust of a figure or a mythological scene. Engravers may also incise metal, to sign or personalize a work. They use a sharp instrument called a burin. Stone-carvers work in three dimensions, transforming a gemstone into a miniature sculpture, a fascinating piece of movement, lightness and refinement. Já chegou ao ponto de estar cansada emocionalmente dentro de um relacionamento? O cansaço emocional nos corrói, nos enfraquece. Por muito tempo eu não entendia o que acontecia comigo, achava que era apenas tristeza. Já falei em outro post, mas acho que se encaixa perfeitamente aqui também: o cansaço emocional me fez varrer os problemas pra debaixo do tapete, só que hoje entendo com clareza, que o tapete era eu mesma. Carreguei pesos que não eram só meus. E carreguei por anos. Mas pq tô falando tudo isso? Pra que você entenda que o amor não acaba, ele cansa. E é otimo quando enfim entendemos isso e seguimos em frente. Pode demorar? Pode. Vai depender de como vc lida com seus processos internos. Parece estranho, né? Mas a reflexão é importante. Its all in my head!! So I am finally back here. I needed a break honestly. Havent been in a very positive headspace with all the news and havent been feeling very creative portraits wise. To be very very honest, I felt very detached with this page. After working on this page so diligently for the past 2 years and not getting the kind of response really shatters your confidence. I open the page and seeing the number decreasing day by day broke my heart. I am not a very numbers person (I was in the beginning, I am not now!) but even then, it shatters your confidence. I have created a very curated page where I upload some of my best works and not just some random pictures and this is the reason why I dont upload client pictures too. So naturally I cant upoad every single day. But this whole engagement game that you have to play on social media is really taxing specially during these difficult times. So it was just sad for me to know that there are people who would unfollow you just because youre not uploading regularly which is so petty specially when the whole world is spiralling. So yeah, felt very demotivated. But I am back now. I am ready to work on new stuff. I am working on a new sight for findingsights (see what I did there!🙈) so stay tuned for that. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with SUPIMA on this project. One of the things I love most about photography, and in particular advertising photography, is that my role is oftentimes to be a problem solver and give form to abstract ideas. JUSTICE FOR THE PLANET (yes that includes PEOPLE) ✊🏽 Pictured here me weaving on a mini handloom. Hand weaving is mode of slow, sustainable fashion and cultural tradition for many BIPOC communities. It was even an act of resistance through the Swadeshi Movement in the fight for Indian independence. Unfortunately only 15% of Indias fabric is handloom and the government recently abolished the All India Handicrafts Board. Today many weaving communities in indigenous Native tribes, African tribes, and Adivasi communities (indigenous South Asians)are unknown, weaving at a small scale or in fear of their craft dying out. For true environmental, social, cultural and economic JUSTICE to happen, we must include PEOPLE and revitalize marginalized communities by listening to their ancestral knowledge and reviving/sustaining their cultural traditions. Practices like handloom weaving, prescribed burnings, renewing edible and medicinal plants etc. were lost during colonization and the Industrial Revolution. Reviving these practices at scale makes it possible for us to relearn traditional methods of taking care of the earth and move to a truly regenerative future. - @nihaelety on Instagram

It’s day 2 of my (@gfrnks) takeover for #diftg. This week Im featuring work by Ottawa photographers along with a few words about their process. Our second feature is Maxine Schieve (@mirage.atrois)! “My brain works in a funny way, in that my thoughts aren’t primarily words, they’re visual cues. Consequently, I think what drives my take on photography at its core is just trying to create images that will encapsulate my thoughts. Photography is a form of communication for myself, and for others like me, who think in terms of images instead of words. In terms of technical process, I use film rolls that are able to better convey the mood/tone I want to give a picture: Lomochrome Purple and Psychedelic Blues film have been perfect for that. I’m a sucker for blue and purple tones, especially with flash photography. Notably, the Psychedelic Blues film is able to project pictures into a dream-like state. Learning how to use these films has been super fun, discovering the settings in which they stand out more. And in which setting they most portray my vision, if any. I shoot with 3 different analog cameras: Canon FTb, olympus stylus and RETO 3D. My picture taking approach is messy: I draft a vague design but I never really have much of plan. This being said, I like it to be lighthearted and amusing when I take pictures. I often shoot in a party setting because people having fun is an enthralling energy to capture. And in turn people love seeing themselves having a blast on film. 3D photography and soft-core lust have really captured my interest, so that’s the direction my work is moving towards. I’ve been receiving positive feedback and it makes me happy seeing that other people are enjoying my craft as much as I am. Overall, I strive for the abstract, dreamy, and piercing dark tones with light debauchery sprinkled in. However, I’m still a beginner and I move slowly. I am trying to puzzle together how to make reality the images that my brain sees. Can you keep a secret? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The Islay Cask Company Lavatera ??? is a sample I wanted to share because it combines two of my favourite places in the world: Scotland & the Rhinegau in Germany. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ A 8 year old Caol Ila Whisky finished in a Pinot Noir Barrel from Balthasar Ress, a Winegut 40 miles from my home in Germany. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Now for the Whisky. Bottled at a mighty 57% abv it packs a #whiskypunch! ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ The sound of the Whisky got my taste buds excited but alas the balance, well: just doesn’t balance. The warm smokiness I love from the Caol Ila is hindered by the Red Wine finish, yet the finish doesn’t deliver a rich, chewy sweetness I was longing for. The flavour feels a little lost; like a disharmonised relationship which has either gone sour or needs longer to over come difficulties. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Would I buy a €99 from The Islay Cask Company? Yes, but purely because of my relationship & love for the Rhinegau.
