Thomaz Jorge Farkas nasceu em Budapeste, Hungria, em 1924. Aos 6 anos, se mudou para São Paulo com seus pais. Aos 8, ganhou sua primeira câmera, onde começou a experimentar um pouco do universo da fotografia. Formou-se em engenharia pela Escola Politécnica e fez doutorado na Escola de Comunicação e Artes da USP, mesma instituição onde também atuou como professor. Em 1960, assumiu a direção da Fotoptica, função que exerceu até 1987, quando a rede de lojas foi vendida. Entre os anos de 1964 e 1981, foi produtor e coprodutor de, aproximadamente, 38 filmes documentários de curta e média-metragem, tendo dirigido 3 deles. A maior parte desses filmes, sobretudo os realizados entre 1964 e 1974, ficaram conhecidos como a Caravana Farkas. Porém, Thomaz continuou produzindo até 1981, época de lançamento de Hermeto Campeão, documentário sobre a música de Hermeto Pascoal. Thomaz é reconhecido pela sua produção fotográfica, tendo realizado exposições nos mais importantes centros culturais e museus do Brasil e do exterior. Ao lado de fotógrafos como German Lorca, Geraldo de Barros, José Medeiros e Marcel Gautherot, Thomaz é um dos principais expoentes da fotografia moderna no Brasil. PURIST MAGAZINE PART 1 ✒️Remember that art is process, the journey is always the only arrival. I thank Julia Cameron for that wisdom and reminder. It’s the closest way of words that can describe my relationship to my work. The lives that I have had the privilege to witness through my art are living breathing entities that grow, changes and teach. After all transitions give room for vulnerability. We grieve loss and we celebrate birth along this winding path of complex human emotions. It’s such a testament to life and what makes it so fragile and beautiful. My entire life is embedded in all I do, it’s the only way I know how to create. Each image is a reflection of my own story. These photographs are a glimpse of that sacred space. It is with pure joy that I am sharing this heartfelt project that I did for the July issue of Purist Magazine. I am deeply thankful for the relationships that trusted me and allowed me to share this. There is not a moment that goes by without that gratitude. It’s a complicated fragile time in this country and I have found that healing is never something we do completely in solitude. Our wounds are our courage, our brokenness is also our light. It took me a long time to truly lean into that process. Don, Loved capturing all these images. This was one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever photographed: I took pictures of the evidence in Rae Carruth’s trial for Cherica Adams’ murder for a TV documentary. In fact, I almost didn’t do it and negotiated what I would and wouldn’t photograph because I didn’t want to be a part of something exploitive. It was very disturbing and emotional, seeing all of the evidence and trial exhibits. My sweet husband, Jim, helped me get through it, as usual! Theres on average three or four stories a week that normally would be the story of any year. It’s had such a numbing effect, I think, on the American people that they can’t even grasp it. Let’s take today. One of the stories today was that the President of the United States said he would not necessarily accept an orderly transition of power. Well, thats the story of most decades. It might be the story of this decade. But that was just this week. We also have the Breonna Taylor verdict today. And our governor and his wife tested positive for COVID. And the son of the President of the United States is going to be required to testify in what might be a criminal investigation. My point is that we have so much going on that people almost cant process it. The other thing that has been more striking this year has been the severity of the blue silo, red silo divide. It seems more pronounced this year than ever before in our lifetimes. People are working from entirely different information bases. So theres no debate in the country, at this point, on any kind of meaningful issues because were not dealing with the same set of facts. Now, the flip side is that there are many stories of human kindness and resiliency and compassion that happen every day, in every state, in every community and thats the great thing about our country. It goes across lines, it’s not a red thing, it’s not a blue thing. And then you think about the frontline workers. I’ve never had to risk my life to go to work, you know, and these folks are doing it every day. Think about all the acts of heroism, 9/11. There is something about our country that always seemed kind of magical about that, risking ourselves for others, and I dont know that its unique to us particularly, but that’s still there. The 2018 TPON TIME Person of the Year: Frank V. Johnson “Usher for a New Era” - On February 20, 2018, Frank Veto Johnson was sworn in as the 30th President of TPON as a Republican from Ohio. Johnson had just won an election of the closest margins, overcoming Senator Warren by just one vote. That one vote may have very well changed the history of our simulation as we know it. Johnson had campaigned heavily on total sim reform. His involvement in the creation of the “TPON 2.0” plan, which outlined some sensible and in other aspects drastic changes to the way TPON operates laid the foundation for goals as President. Some of these goals were included resetting TPON as we know it. Less than a month before Johnson swore in, the new US and TPON Constitutions were officially ratified. Johnson took part in the writings of these Constitutions, being the principal writer of the TPON Constitution in particular. Through the ratification of these Constitutions, Johnson laid the groundwork for the reset. The reset had long been one of TPON’s most controversial issues. When the Constitution was ratified, and Johnson elected as President, he knew he had to be the one to finally turn back the clocks. On March 8th, 2018, President Johnson along with Joseph Pitts and John N. Tesla submitted their final version of the “Reset Act” which after intense debate in Congress made it to Johnson’s desk and thus signed into law. On April 3, 2018, TPON officially rewinded back 86 years smoothly, squashing all of the anti-reset concerns. The bloom of activity following the reset is regarded as one of TPON’s most active period. Despite Johnson serving only one term (albeit extended to 91 days due to new Constitutional provisions), he signed 42 pieces of legislation into law, vetoed 12, and issued numerous executive orders in-line with his Republican platform. In addition, Johnson set a new standard for how to operate the Executive, respond to events, and engage the world. Following his one-term tenure as President, Johnson continued to serve in TPON by authoring and moderating numerous events (which he still does). A new study at Montefiore Health System and Albert Einstein College of Medicine will compare the outcomes of people with COVID-19 who are monitored at home by wearable technology, to people who receive standard outpatient care. The investigators hope to determine if Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) can be used successfully to track symptoms and flag people at risk for getting severely ill, and why. Jonathan D. We are happy to reveal our competition proposal for the ‘Book City’ masterplan and landscape design in the Bao’an Central District in Shenzhen, China. With nature and culture as starting point, the new 77,000 square meter Book City is a nature-based parkland that fully integrates with the underground building. Quote: “We believe that book reading will survive the digital era, due to the physically and sensible information format. When you read a book, you are focused and your mind is clear - and nature brings the perfect conditions for sensibility and focus. With inspiration from the traditional Chinese garden, the park has meandering paths, enclosed spaces and a comfortable micro-climate. The careful selection of native trees creates shadow, spaces for exploratory and social experiences plus of course quiet spaces for book reading,” says @alhambraraz, Partner in SLA. To protect the park environment from street noise, the east side is elevated and has amphitheaters integrated. Here, book discussions and cultural events thrive, while noise from the outside is blocked. The new landscape design thus establishes an attractive, generous and lush frame around the new Book City to benefit the cultural life and all residents of Shenzhen. U.S., however, the vaccine empires are beginning to crumble, and English versions of the news in mainstream media outlets are available via the Internet. One such country is India, where the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and their vaccine empire are under fire, including a pending lawsuit currently being investigated by the India Supreme Court.” If you aren’t aware of the key players in the vaccine mayhem being driven into African countries, they are: The World Health Organization The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation PATH (Program for Appropriate Technology in Health, funded by the Gates’ foundation), and GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, also funded by the Gates’ foundation) All four of these organizations will now be expected to explain themselves due to a writ of petition originally submitted to the Supreme Court of India in 2012, by Kalpana Mehta, Nalini Bhanot, and Dr. Rukmini Rao, which has finally been heard by the courts. The petitioners stated: “BMGF, PATH and WHO were criminally negligent trialing the vaccines on a vulnerable, uneducated and under-informed population, school administrators, students and their parents who were not provided informed consent or advised of potential adverse effects or required to be monitored post-vaccination.” Furthermore, though absent from most mainstream U.S. media outlets, the Economic Times of India published their report in August 2014, stating that young tribal girls were tested with HPV vaccines. This involved not a handful of children, but 16,000 individuals in Andhra Pradesh, India, where they were given the Gardasil vaccine. KP Narayana Kumar reported that within a month of receiving the vaccine, many of the children fell ill, and by 2010, five of them had died. Another two children were reported to have died in Vadodara, Gujarat, where another 14,000 tribal children were vaccinated with another brand of the HPV vaccine, Cervarix, manufactured by GlaxoSmitheKline (GSK), who incidentally, has been accused of dumping polio virus into a Belgium river. One of the main reasons why I chose the subscription model is because math anxiety in children typically starts very young and, left unresolved (as it often is), math anxiety keeps compounding to the point that it evolves into math trauma. And math trauma eventually = limited career options, decreased earning potential, less favorable health outcomes, etc. ⭐Your child can be the textbook definition of good at math and still have high math anxiety.⭐ I see it all the time. And when stuff is deep-rooted, it doesnt just go away overnight. Much like many things worth having, the magic and the results are found in the routine, consistent work. Our kids deserve to have math confidence. Our kids deserve to perform math at a high level. Our kids deserve to have the agency to use math to change their lives and the lives of those around them. But, in order for them to get all they deserve, they need regular, consistent exposure to fun, engaging and relevant math activities...month after month after month. Thats how the anxiety heals. So thats what were doing.
