The fire was located in the counties of Santa Cruz and San Mateo and as of yesterday had burned over 86,000 acres. Due to the diligent efforts of over 2000 personnel the fire is 72% contained has stopped its forward progress and was in the mop up stages. This years fire season has started very aggressively and resources are already stretched thin. Your Downey Fire Dept. is prepared and honored to serve as part of the states Master Mutual Aid system. Strike Team 1282A was made up of Engine’s from Downey, Santa Fe Springs, West Covina, La Habra Heights and Torrance. Shortly after 2am this morning Companies 1,4,&5 were dispatched for a reported structure fire on High St. A Shelton Police Officer patrolling the area was first to arrive and confirm a working fire. The officer also notified dispatch that people were still trapped inside the house. First arriving Shelton Fire units along with Shelton Police officers began rescuing the trapped occupants. Additional man power from Company 3 and Derby FD was requested to the scene to assist with operations. FD units began fire attack and a primary search to check for any other potential victims. Removed patients were transported by Echo Hose Ambulance and Derby Storm ambulance to the hospital. The fire was placed under control about an hour and a half later. Also while operating mutual aid units responded to a fire alarm, and covering shelton units responded to a working car fire. We would like to give a HUGE shoutout to not only all Shelton And Derby Fire/Ambulance units, but also Shelton Police officers LT. Tommy Lindberg, Ofc Caroline Moretti, and Ofc Phil Norris. These officers were able to locate and remove one victim while firefighters removed another. Thank you Shelton Police for your courage and assistance this morning!!! - @whitehillsfireco5 on Instagram

Around 1700 hours the box alarm was sounded in the area of Central Ave / Yost Place. While en route, responding units were advised by Communications police are on the scene reporting a working fire with possible entrapment. PE805 arrived on scene first due of a 1 story strip mall with smoke showing from the Alpha and Charlie side. PE805 advanced an attack line and forced entry into the business cutting through roll up gates and multiple locks. Units advanced into the structure finding a fire in the rear office and extinguished all remaining fire. There were no trapped occupants and all searches were found negative. Napa Fire Department welcomes home our members who were deployed out of county on Engine 6. The 4 members on E6, along with a strike team leader from Napa Fire, deployed over two weeks ago originally to the Lake Fire in Los Angeles County. After working on the Lake Fire for 4 days, the crew was reassigned emergency need back to their home county and was assigned to the LNU complex here in Napa. E6 spent the remainder of their tour working all over the LNU complex doing structure protection, back burn firing operations, assisting with hose lays, and evacuations and search. The first two units, #Engine74 and #Ladder25, got access to the two workers and were able to put their life-saving ropes on both of the workers in order to provide another means of safety for them. Once that happened, we were able to take one worker in through the window. The other worker was away from the scaffold up on one of the ledges, and #Rescue1 had to lower one of their members over the edge of the building from the roof, attach their safety line to the worker, pull them up, take them off of their safety line, and get them into the window. It was a very good operation by all three units. It showed a lot of teamwork. Both workers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. We had a very successful outcome,” says #FDNY Deputy Chief John Schof, #Division3, from the scene at West 78th and Broadway in Manhattan where FDNY members performed a high-angle rescue after a portable scaffold failed. FDNY Firefighter Andrew Dinkel, Rescue 1, says, “Engine 74 and Ladder 25 did an unbelievable job securing the victims in the window areas where they were initially trapped. The companies were also able to get one of the victims to safety. The other victim happened to be hung up on their tether, so our company went into operation on the roof. We were able to find anchor points up there to get a lowering operation into play. It worked out really well. This is something we do all the time as far as drilling and training is concerned. Early this morning, Orange County sent out additional resources for mutual aid assistance up north. A part of this recent deployment, Costa Mesa Fire and Rescue has deployed our Engine 82 as part of Strike Team 1422A with four firefighters to the Lightning Complex Fire in Napa County. Additionally, CMFR’s OES Engine 415 firefighters continue to work the Carmel Fire with four firefighters and are staying in high spirits. Red Flag Warning Staffing Update: Engine 354 (responding from Station 6 on Central Ave.) and Water Tender 53 (responding from Station 8 on Fremont Blvd.) will be upstaffed for the Red Flag Warning through Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 8 AM (unless the Red Flag Warning is extended). At 23:57 hours, Station 83 and first alarm companies were alerted to a reported bedroom fire on Merrybrook Road. The 83 Duty Officer (Engineer 83) arrived to find heavy fire on the B side of a 2 story dwelling, with it already running into the attic and venting through the roof. Quint 53’s crew of 6 arrived to assume first due engine duties and deployed multiple lines while Ladder 83’s crew of 7 split, with half assisting with advancing hoselines and the other half performing first due truck company duties. Crews battled challenge after challenge in fighting this fire, but persisted with an aggressive interior attack in an effort to save as many personal belongings as possible. Due to the area not having hydrants, multiple tankers were requested. Crews then returned at 5:24 hours for a rekindle, and remained on the scene until 08:00 hours. Due to the many challenges faced at this incident, the equivalent of a 3rd alarm was struck for mutual aide companies. Räddningstjänsten gör en stor resursuppbyggnad och påbörjar flera parallella åtgärder för att försöka släcka branden samtidigt som så mycket egendom som möjligt ska räddas. I en av lagerlokalerna håller några brandmän på rädda egendom då plötsligt en vägg rasar in. Brandmännen rusar ut och när de samlas igen på utsidan av byggnaden så saknas en brandman. Det ropas NÖDLÄGE på radion! Om ovanstående situation inträffar, vad gör du? Hur förberedd är din organisation på att hantera ett nödläge? Finns nödlägesplaner och är de inövade? Din kollega och vän saknas, och det kommer bli ett trauma för dig, din grupp och organisationen som helhet. Utöver att vara tränad för att hantera den akuta fasen så behöver din organisation också vara förberedd på att ge stöd till egna medarbetare, lång tid efter händelsen. Det bästa är ju såklart att aldrig hamna i ett nödläge, varav kontinuerlig riskbedömning under hela insatsen är väldigt viktig för att fatta beslut om fortsatta åtgärder. Men vid dynamiska händelser inträffar ibland det oförutsedda. Därför är det bra att diskutera och öva nödläge i sina organisationer. Hur gick det i den aktuella händelsen? Tack vare ett snabbt och bestämt agerande gick kollegor till den saknade brandmannen in igen i den brinnande byggnaden för att påbörja ett sök. Yesterday evening was extremely busy for our crews as storms came through. We were dispatched to several calls related to the storms as well as three structure fires with one being a working fire. Crews from Wake Forest, Rolesville, and Youngsville responded to this home off Miracle Drive. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control that was in the attic. #TruckCompanyThursday - highlighting the importance of the truck company in our city. In the District of Columbia, our Truck Companies are on the streets daily handling a variety of duties from structure fires, medicals emergencies, gas leaks, electrical emergencies, among many more. @dcfirefighters staff and professionally operate 16 Truck companies, 15 of which are @tractordrawnaerial trucks and one centrally located Tower Ladder. The relationship between these and our #EngineCompanies is pivotal. A common question citizens ask is what do the really big fire trucks without water do? Ladder trucks do not carry water and instead, carry a healthy compliment of ground ladders, an aerial ladder, misc tools and appliances. The men and women on our trucks are tasked with numerous duties on structure fires. The sole job of #EngineCompany is to extinguish fire with water. Truck Company tasks however are multi-faceted. Working in conjunction with the engine, the members on the Truck are tasked with gaining access to structures, conducting searches for victims, placing ladders for citizen rescue and firefighter egress from upper floors, the removal of heat, smoke and toxic gasses caused by fires, and opening up concealed spaces in floors, walls, and ceilings to search for hidden fires, as well as the control utilities. These efforts increase victim survivability and aide in the extinguishment of fires. Truck Companies also function as the safety company on all Metrorail incidents, ensuring power is de-energized and the track bed is safe for entry in addition to other tasks. Im letzten halben Jahr wurde die ILS Rhein-Neckar mit der Feuerwehrleitstelle Heidelberg fusioniert: Heute, zum 1. Oktober, nimmt die neu gegründete gemeinsame Leitstelle offiziell ihren Betrieb auf. An zwei Standorten in Ladenburg und Heidelberg werden Notrufe entgegengenommen, Rettungskräfte alarmiert und Einsätze aufeinander abgestimmt. Responding to a call of people trapped, #JerseyCity Firefighters rescued a woman from her 3rd floor Hutton Street apartment this morning. Due to the quick actions of the crew of #Engine36, and the expert medical care of the members on #Rescue26, the patient arrived at the hospital in time to receive a #cardiac stent and stabilize their critical condition. The #professionalism, #teamwork, and #execution of these members contributed to the #survival of this patient.
