It’s #nationalcollegecolorsday! (Thanks for the reminder, @truesportusa!) And I wanted to share what competing for @purduesports meant to me. . 📸: @gettyimages/Johnathan Ferrey, Olympic Trials 2008 Qualifying Round 🚂 . Being a Boilermaker meant having every resource available I needed to be successful, but that maybe those things weren’t quite as shiny as other people’s stuff. Our mascot describes people who threw coal into train engine burners after all, and this was before the current, beautiful athletic facilities (I always juuuuust missed new uniforms and perks growing up 🤦🏼‍♀️.) So the work was gritty and difficult and it was usually cold and I was far away from home and I got hurt multiple times and I struggled to keep a wide range of classes straight cuz I couldn’t decide on a major. . But the people. My fellow Boilermakers: Dodge Street residents. Athletes from other sports who’ve become lifelong friends. Athletic department administrators and support staff. @purduenutritionscience students and professors. Coach Zuyderwyk, all my incredible @purduethrows & @purdue_trackxc teammates. @boilergoldrush fellow staff and the freshmen who were in my groups that remain such uplifting voices in my life. @purduemortarboard, where I felt like I failed miserably but still got to learn from incredible peers. Purdue Athletic Trainers, who set me up for so many comebacks. So grateful that they were my introduction to sports medicine. . Every facet of Purdue, for me, was struggle and hard work, with a fabulous community around me. I had one early bout of homesickness, but otherwise loved my 5 years in West Lafayette. I made the best decision to go join the best people for me in a place that was big, but felt small. A school that had everything I could want, but wasn’t intimidating. Where I could grow at my own pace but then accelerate out into the wider world. Thank you, Purdue. Really stoked to have competed in my first half Ironman distance event over the weekend at geelong 70.3. It was a great weekend out competing in a team relay with @ben_galea_tri where we managed to finish 8th out of 48 teams. . . The race started for me started with the 1.9km open water swim. It wasn’t my best performance in recent times however I’m still happy to go sub 30minutes for this distance. . . Then it was onto the bike for me. Started of my bike strong averaging good speed in the first lap however I soon learnt that I may have gone too hard too early to struggle with speed on the second lap. All in I was able to ride a 2:35. Before transferring the reins to Ben for him to run a 1:25 half marathon. . . All in all super happy with my performance and the overall success of the weekend. Lots of lessons were learnt and theres always more work required but I can’t wait to compete at my first full Ironman 70.3 in Melbourne this year. Přelet nad Brnem ✈️ V úterý se v Brně konalo Akademické mistrovství ČR, kde jsem absolovala hned 5 startů. Tento běžecký pětiboj mi začal v deset hodin ráno na trati 3 km🥇, následoval start na 3000 m překážek🥇.Třetí start na 1500 m 🥉byl pro mě asi nejmilejší překvapení protože PB 4:25,75 po dvou trojkách 🤷🏽‍♀️. In these types of races, mistakes are costly and I made quite a few today. I raced clumsy and while I’m disappointed to not have executed as I envisioned or know I am capable; I am also pretty proud that I was able to maintain composure and focus in the times I fell short. T2 was a host of unforgiving mistakes in itself, but there were others I made throughout the race. What I find comforting (in an odd way) about races like this is that it is not hard for me to determine where work needs to be done and how to be better for next time. So today provided great insight and feedback and I can’t wait to be better at the next opportunity, which is right around the corner! I was inspired by many of the other ladies racing on the course today. Of course by the always smiling @georgiatb on winning the World Championship and racing 💪🏻 and 💨, the overcomer of all adversity @floraduffy and the consistent Hamburg crusher @laura_linran. They were so impressive, and many more inspiring performances ran deep today and went far beyond the podium ladies. So my feelings: disappointed, proud, hungry for more, relieved to have the first race done, thankful for the opportunity and so so happy to reunite with this wonderful community of people. Dear runner. We know that many of you due to take part in the Copenhagen Half Marathon this year are eager to know if the race will go ahead as scheduled or not. We very much hope that we will be able to put on our running shoes and run together this September. As much as we would like to, we cannot yet offer certainty as we wait for updated guidelines from the Government that will dictate whether or not there will be a ban on major events in Denmark for the rest of this year. It is a very difficult situation for us as event organisers, for those of you who have already signed up and those who are considering whether to take part or start training. Please be assured that we will provide an update as soon as we can. At this stage, we can give you some peace of mind by informing you of your options should the event need to be cancelled due to COVID-19. This should also offer certainty to those of you who are trying to decide whether or not to buy an entry in the race: 1⃣ You can opt to transfer your 2020 registration to 2021. Listened to the story of the circus elephant and the peg today. Baby elephants are captured and tied to a peg in the ground. They fight and struggle to break free but are too weak. Over time they finally give up fighting the peg and just the act of putting a rope around their leg is enough to subdue them. Years later as fully grown elephants they are still completely subdued by a small wooden peg and rope. Zum ersten gemeinsamen Lehrgang nach der COVID-19 Pause trafen sich unsere Kaderringer im Sporthotel Wagrain. Unter der Führung der Sportdirektoren Jörg Helmdach und Benedikt Ernst, sowie den Trainern Cikel, Nöster, Bodi und Kratky wurde ein abwechslungsreicher Trainingsplan für die 2 Wochen erstellt. Neben harten Kraft-, Ausdauer- und Koordinationsübungen fand auch eine Wanderung zum Tappenkarsee statt. Weiters wurden natürlich Coronatestungen und Leistungsdiagnostik durchgeführt. El maratón de Londres se llevará a cabo el 4 de octubre del año en curso, recordando que será una exhibición donde solo habrá una categoría: la élite. 🤯 Pero eso no es todo lo que nos traerá esta competencia, sino que, lo más impactante es la gran batalla de los grandes del asfalto, Eliud Kipchoge y Kenenisa Bekele siendo Kipchoge el que tiene el record del mundo de 02:01:39 en maratón, pero Bekele no está nada atrás ya que solo está a 2 segundos de la marca de su adversario.🙈 Aunque el maratón no es solo de estas Rock Stars, sino que, también hay otros 8 atletas élite que marcan sub 2:05Hrs en el maratón 😱. . Bekele ha sido tres veces medallista de oro olímpico que ganó 17 títulos mundiales en cross-country, atletismo, además tiene el record de los 10,000mts que rompió en el 2005 y dice que se siente en unas excelentes condiciones para este gran enfrentamiento con Eliud.😎 . Por su parte Kipchoge, ganador de 3 veces el maratón de Berlín donde en uno de ellos fue el que consiguió el record, pero el verdadero record que obtuvo fue en Viena 2019 ya que pudo romper la barrera de las 2 horas en el maratón; Claro esta, que no fue reconocido como oficial ya que no fue una competencia abierta, sin embargo, si un esfuerzo digno de admirarse.🤩 . It’s crazy and almost embarrassing to admit, but I finally love racing. Win or lose (win is much better though!). I used to get crazy anxiety that made me miserable and almost want to quit, but now I have so much fun and only get a little nervous on the line. I ran a PR of 2:04.9 in the 800, I’m happy for a PR but not satisfied by any means. But what’s important is results aside, I loved these big friendly meets.. and that’s what matters the most. Thanks to my team, all the athletes, photographers, and @pdxtrack for making an amazing summer and teaching me to love racing. Big friendly might be over but I still have one race left! Next Saturday I get the privilege of going to the beautiful city of Des Moines, Iowa to race the USATF Road mile championship! Vyrovnané výsledky přinesl závod žen. Na trati dlouhé 9,5 kilometrů s převýšením 820 metrů doběhly první tři ženy v rozmezí 26 vteřin. Svůj první mistrovský titul v běhu do vrchu vybojovala Tereza Hrochová v čase 50:18. Druhé místo patřilo naší dlouhodobě úspěšné vrchařce Pavle Schorné (50:37). Pro bronzovou medaili si doběhla Lucie Maršánová (50:44), naše nejlepší závodnice z minulého Mistrovství světa v horském maratonu. Na 4. pozici se umístila loňská vítězka Adéla Stránská (51:44). 5. příčku obsadila další účastnice loňského Mistrovství světa Hana Švestková Stružková (54:07). Na 6. místě dokončila Kristýna Dvořáková (56:14), 5. z Mistrovství světa v roce 2018. Na 7. místě skončila Iva Milesová (57:55), mistryně ČR z roku 2013. Poslední závodnicí, která se vešla pod hodinu, byla na 9. pozici Alena Matějáková (59:24). Ta nás minulý rok úspěšně reprezentovala v kategorii juniorek na Mistrovství světa, kde obsadila 4. místo. Всем привет 🖐️ Ну вот и пришло время моего рассказа про забег Бухта Находка@zabeg_nhk , присаживайтесь поудобнее и не забудьте попкорн, шоу начинается😁 Проснулись в 9 утра, позавтракав кашей и неспеша собравшись, к 10:30 мы уже были на озере Рица. Старт по расписанию для полумарафона и десятки ровно в полдень, итого у нас ещё есть полтора часа для того чтобы поздороваться с беговыми товарищами и сделать разминку. Быстренько пробежали по городку, всё посмотрели, мои девочки @ksene4ka87 и #Кристинка остались смотреть выступления коллективов, а я пошёл на разминку. Закончив разминаться, в 11:50 я пошёл переодеваться, всё делаю не спеша, т.к 10 минут у меня ещё есть для выхода на стартовую линию. Через 3 минуты я резко начинаю паниковать, т.к слышу слова ведущего: “Все приглашаются на старт и через минуту стартуем!, а я стою в это время в одних шортах. Кое как всё натянув на себя и не понять как зашнуровав свои кроссовки, я подбежал к старту за секунду до обратного отсчёта. Обратный отсчёт:..... три, два, один, СТАРТ!!! Все резко рванули вперёд, я со всеми, Леха @lexus_smy4kov как обычно впереди всех😁 Оглядываюсь по сторонам, смотрю на всех кто бежит рядом, ищу Женю @eugeny0909 , в первые 10 секунд его не наблюдаю, подумал уже что может решил не бежать, ну мало ли😊 или так же как и я не был готов к старту на 6 минут раньше от заявленного и опоздал. Ещё через 10 секунд он появляется, спросил у меня по сколько я побегу, а я у него, вдруг думаю смогу за него зацепиться и с ним пробежать дистанцию, но цифра в 3:20 на километр была для меня ещё недосягаема, но я бегу, а в голове мысль сдохну блин😱. В итоге первую пятёрку я отработал по 3:24 на километр, отстал от Жеки метров на 200. Со второго круга меня начинает пейсить Женя @ivashchenko1303. Он спросил у меня по сколько держим темп, я ответил что по 3:40. Ты точно справишься? Да нормально, побежали. Женя вёл меня 3,5 - 4 км трассы из 5 километрового круга, давая пенделя🦵 мне перед участком с разворотом. 2020 has been a mess in too many ways to touch on in this post. After getting email after email announcing race cancellations, I still had hope for at least 1 race.. The World Mountain Running Championships. I had my eyes on this Championship with the intent to defend my World title from 2019. Ive never been one to rest on my past results and become content so this years Championship was important on a personal level. I needed that opportunity to prove to myself that I could bring another medal home to my country 🇺🇲⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Getting the news that this years Championship was canceled flooded my mind with emotions. Not only will I miss an opportunity to practice my Spanish on the beautiful island of Lanzarote and eat a few new recipes, but I also wont get to challenge the mountains of the Canary Islands with my fellow countrymen and other international competitors Ive been blessed to share trails with over past years. Думала, этим мыслям не суждено было выбраться наружу. Но вот они здесь. Я долгое время шла по пути, который выбрала когда-то совсем маленькой девочкой с кучей амбиций, непоколебимой уверенностью в себе, совершенно не знающей границ. ⠀ Ты побеждаешь первый раз, второй, десятый, иногда эта череда завоеваний прерывалась и приобретала соленый вкус на короткий срок. Затем все снова складывалось как пазл: от создания идеальной картинки в голове до ее реализации проходило считаное время. И вот ты начинаешь воспринимать себя через призму своих результатов в спорте. Победа за тобой - хорошая девочка, победа за другой - какое же я говно. В состоянии последнего я жила годы, это знали только близкие люди, картинка в социальных сетях была иная. ⠀ Мне помогла работа со спортивным психологом. Да, пришлось обратиться за помощью (и это нормально), потому что я старалась сделать максимум, чтобы улучшить свои показатели. В память четко врезалась фраза «ты не есть твой результат в спорте», можно провести аналогию на любую сферу вашей жизни. Казалось бы, примитивно. Но зачастую спортсмены мыслят иначе, думая, что их результат говорит о них ВСЕ. ⠀ Я так и не смогла улучшить свой рекорд в тройном прыжке, добиться мечты той маленькой девочки о золоте. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are incapable of following your dreams. I have been an age-group triathlete for almost 6 years now after a disappointing career as a collegiate springboard diver. I struggled immensely with self-confidence throughout college until I found the sport of Triathlon which ‘saved me’. I love how I can make as little or as much out of this sport as I want. I love how the only pressure to perform comes from within myself and not from any outsiders watching. I love how direct the correlation is between hard work and improvements on the racecourse. I can’t say the journey has been easy, as I battled a stress fracture of my femur, pelvis, and two stress fractures of my feet soon after committing myself to Triathlons. Doctors told me that I was too fragile; they said that my genes gave me bones too weak to support the stress of training. I am not weak. I am not fragile. I decided to pour my heart into the sport and focus on strength, conditioning, and recovery in order to keep my body strong and healthy. I have since been injury-free and am working my way up the ranks of the age-group field, recently placing 4th overall female at Ironman 70.3 North Carolina. Unfortunately, those dream-crushers never go away. I am now in medical school at Duke University and am told constantly that I cannot continue medicine and Triathlons – you must pick one. Well, I have refused to pick one, and I will continue to refuse. My true love for both a career as a gyn oncologist and my love for racing will continue to drive me to work hard to succeed in both. Sometimes it means 3 am runs or long bike trainer sessions while reading medical research, but the journey is easy when I love what I do. For all you triathletes out there who have encountered people who tell you that you are not good enough, not strong enough, or can’t do it all - - I’m here to tell you that you CAN. Som en del av denne satsingen er Casper Stornes og Kristian Blummenfelt blitt Vikingmedlemmer. For Kristian er det ikke nytt da han har vært medlem i friidrettsavdelingen i flere år, men for Casper blir det for første gang i vikingdrakt når han sammen med Kristian skal sesongdebutere i World Serie i Abudabi fredag 6.mars. Copenhagen Half Marathon 2020 Cancelled. We regret to inform you that the 2020 Copenhagen Half Marathon, scheduled for September 13 has been cancelled. Last year thousands of runners from all over the world gathered together in Copenhagen for the event but this will not be possible this year. We would have loved to be running with all of you in Copenhagen in 2020 and we know that many of you will have been training hard but your health and that of the spectators, volunteers, the event team and the wider public must remain our priority at this time. All entrants who were registered for @Cphhalf 2020 will be able to transfer their registration to next year’s race which will take place on September 19 2021, or get a full refund of the entry fee paid. If you’re able to, we sincerely hope that you will transfer your entry to 2021 as your support will help protect the future of the Copenhagen Half Marathon. We are sad that for now we must remain apart but we are excited to offer a motivational goal in the form of a Virtual SuperHalfs event and earn a medal!
