It’s taken me a few days to articulate the overwhelming feeling of emotion I’ve felt from the number of messages I’ve had following my Podcast from a few days ago. In which I opened up about aspects of my life that I’ve only started to understand in self reflection stemming from my desire to strive to be the best version of myself that represents my values and traits. This isn’t about being perfect and self righteous or thinking I’ll never have moments or periods again where I’ll become a Pratt and wish I’d handled events differently! But the realisation that life is not always going to be easy and there are always lessons to learn from and improve. Using my podcast as platform to voice and acknowledge past events has been liberating and rewarding! My sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to message me and I am truly touched at some of the stories people have been kind enough to share and I consider that a privilege to be able to hear other people’s stories. Vince and Thomas - the mentor and mentee, the elder and apprentice - weed rows of onions with Vinces homemade, three-head fire-weeding rig. I see this transfer of knowledge between generations as being vital to our culture and something that, unfortunately, we need to revive. The past and future meeting, to share time and skills in the present. • This photograph is part of my ongoing, very personal project of documenting my community. Its becoming a series of photographs that feel so close to my heart and intimate that I have trouble sharing them in such an impersonal way. One day it will be a book to take your time with, to sit with the images as I have sat with them. • But for now, a small collection of them are on display as part of an outdoor exhibit in Nelsons Lakeside Park which runs until Oct.15. Its a collaborative show between @thomasnowa @jakeshermanphoto and I that explores how the pandemic has influenced the communities we live in. Miss you Mom. These are weird times when people from the United States are not allowed into the European Union. Normally I spend at least a month during the summer months at home in Baltimore or traveling with my family. Last year we flew to Montana where my mom spent some years living in her 20’s and made a road-trip across the state to Glacier national park. This a photo of my Mom in front of a restaurant we stopped at on the side of the road. We drove and listened to the radio that went in and out and later to cheap cd’s we found in a second hand shop. We hiked and had picnics with beautiful views and swam in the ice cold water at the lake with the mountains behind us. It was great. - @_m_u_n_k_90 on Instagram

Strolling through Greenville is like walking back in time. You wont see chain stores, or chain restaurants, or chain anything for that matter; most businesses in Greenville are locally owned. Few towns in California have the personality of Greenville. Aside from the well kept storefronts and building architecture ranging from the 1860s to the 1940s, Greenvilles rural setting alongside the Union Pacific railroad is what makes this town of 1,100 residents so endearing. Located in the northwest corner of the Indian Valley along California Highway 89, surrounded by towering timbered peaks on the northernmost fringe of the Sierra Nevada Range, Greenville is only nine miles from Lake Almanor and the start of the southern Cascade Range, home to Lassen National Park. Greenville was born in the 1860s amidst a quest for gold, but like many other Sierra Nevada frontier towns, as mining played out, logging and ranching grew, and to this day there are still ranches in the Indian Valley, some of which are generational dating back more than 100 years. Logging was prominent in Greenville, especially during World War II, when the appetite for lumber was insatiable. The influx of new residents to California in the 1950s escalated the demand. As a result, lumber and sawmills in Greenville operated around the clock, causing skies choked with smoke from the burning of scrap lumber. However, the economic future of places like Greenville depend greatly on tourism and recreation. Fortunately for local residents, Greenville and the Indian Valley area have no shortage of remote mountain beauty to share with visitors, and as a bonus, very few crowds. White GA- late 80s on my Grandparents farm.. that’s my Grandpa, my best pal Eric, and me on the left. I remember these days vividly.. I remember exactly where the 40 foot long water moccasin slept in that pond. I remember helping my grandpa shoot the snapping turtles with a sawed off shot gun, I remember all my grandmothers tiny glass pianos and duck crap absolutely everywhere. There was a wall of white rabbits with red eyes in the barn, a peacock named Prince who decided to live at the house down the street, a pet turkey that attacked me from behind, and the smallest toads in the world. I’d share a bed with my Great Grandma who was known for grave robbing with her sister in a small town in NC, I’d fall asleep every night to the voice of Barbara Walters. I’d crack nuts with a huge weird nut cracker and watch them burn in the fire. I knew every word to every Dolly song. My uncles would sing “sometimes it’s hard to be a woman” in perfect harmony for no reason whatsoever.. my grandmother took people on haunted hay rides and my uncles would hide in the woods dressed as bears to scare them. I know where the headless witch lived. I still do. All my Aunts friends names started with Ts. Tanya, Terry, Tammy, Tina, and so forth and so on. My maw maw was a full blooded Cherokee Native American and the only family member trusted with the cleaning of the catfish. My whole family loved “Dallas”, the Gaithers and A song called “It’s me again Margaret”. My grandmother secretly fed the starving horses every night on her neighbors property. My grandpa had a long black Cadillac with red leather interior and an old Dodge Ram with a column shift. I’ve got a new record coming out next year.. probably January or February.
